Diablo-esque ARPG Jotunnslayer adds 8 new weapons and the Norse god of the sea

ARPG fans are spoiled for choice right now. The ever dependable Diablo 4 keeps ploughing on with new seasons, Path of Exile 2 continues to evolve in early access, and Last Epoch recently sprang up as a worthy newcomer too. However, with its roguelike twists, bullet hell elements, and world entrenched in Norse mythology, Jotunnslayer is one to also have an eye on. While not as grand in scope, this early access game is providing some great Diablo-esque action, and its second major update since launching has just arrived.

Content Update 0.3 is LIVE - featuring new weapons and Njord, the God of the High Seas!



[h2]1. Meet the Njord - Seafarer Supreme and Lord of Wealth[/h2]



God of the High Seas, wealth, and (unsurprisingly) fishing has made an unexpected arrival in Jotunnslayer with the Weapon Update. Alongside an extra new weapon for each class, Njord brings a unique water-based skill set worth its weight in sea salt. Unleash amphibious assaults or call forth the monsters of the abyss - though some of them may be a bit... fishy.

With Njord, we’ve brought you even more riches from the sea and plunder from daring raids. His permanent passives directly enhance your gold acquisition, retention, and chest spawns - ensuring wealth flows as freely as the tides!

[h2]2. New weapons for each class[/h2]

BERSERKER WEAPONS

Jagged Axes - The Bleeding Berserker’s Choice!
20% Critical Damage boost means more devastating hits.
Meat Grinder Skill - hurl 3 massive axes, one returns!
Bleed chance (30%) means enemies suffer even after the hit.
Strengths: Short cooldown, Bleed stacks, high Crit damage!
Weaknesses: No Crowd Control, lower initial damage.


Sea Wolf’s Axes
- The Brutal Anchor of Destruction
30% Collection Range boost - grab loot with ease.
Anchor Skill - Pulls enemies into an 8m radius for massive 50 damage!
100% Slow Chance makes enemies helpless for 5s.
Strengths: Highest damage of any weapon skill, enemy pull, full slow!
Weaknesses: Longest cooldown, no passive damage bonus.


SEERESS WEAPONS
Totemic Staff
- The Endurance Master
+1 HP regen per second - stay alive longer!
Tormented Spirits Skill - unleash 6 maddened ghosts dealing 25 damage.
Strengths: Reliable damage, short cooldown, defensive passive regen.
Weaknesses: No Crowd Control, no bonus skill effect.


Tidecaller Staff - Control the Battlefield!
10% Attack Speed bonus for extra mobility.
Tentacle Skill – whips enemies with knockback & 25% Stun chance!
Strengths: Knockback, stun, movement boost.
Weaknesses: Longest cooldown of Seeress weapons, no direct attack boost.



REVENANT WEAPONS

Composite Bow - Precision and Power!
10% Cooldown reduction - fire more often!
Unholy Barrage Skill - Fires a growing barrage of bolts, 3 strikes per shot!
Strengths: Large area, short cooldown, easy control.
Weaknesses: Low initial damage, no offensive passive boost.


Serpent Bow - Unleash the Abyss!
20% Dash Cooldown reduction - stay nimble!
Abyssal Wyrm Skill - A deep-sea wyrm circles you, damaging enemies.
Strengths: Continuous AoE, high DPS, great cooldown/duration ratio.
Weaknesses: Low initial damage, no offensive passive bonus.


FLAME SISTER WEAPONS

Cruel Dagger - Strike from the Shadows!
6% Attack Critical Chance boost - more crits, more kills!
Shadowstrike Skill - 50% Slay Chance on multiple strikes!
Strengths: High Slay chance, multiple attacks per strike.
Weaknesses: Low initial damage, small area of effect.


Pirate Dagger - The Marauder’s Choice!
8% Attack Speed increase - strike fast, strike hard.
Hot Wave Skill - Launch a scalding water wave, 35 damage, and 50% Cripple chance!
Strengths: High initial damage, cripples enemies, short cooldown.
Weaknesses: No defensive passive bonus.

Bug Fixes
  • Fixed issue where bosses and mini-bosses could knock players out of bounds
  • First skill point purchase was more expensive than intended after reset
  • Frozen elite enemies no longer stop animating
  • Fixed elites teleporting while casting
  • Dash recharge now resumes properly after a boss cutscene
  • Resolved issue where active display settings couldn't be changed
  • Muspelheim spiders now properly respect slay chance
  • XP Crystals and Gold from ghosts and flying enemies are now properly reachable
  • Addressed frame drops caused by certain skills
Known Issues
  • Text overlapping in certain languages
  • Stats from modifiers may not be accurately reflected in the pause menu
  • The game may still not save on some devices

Hordes of Hel Just Got Balanced - A New Extraordinary God Joins the Fight!

Hey Jotunnslayers!

As we’ve been reading and scanning your feedback and suggestions thoroughly, a lot of brainstorming has been done lately to find the best way to address your constant demand for making Jotunnslayer more distinctive and positioning it as an outstanding piece in the whole genre. We dare say the brainstorming session we had was so wild and fruitful that it hopefully brought out something big enough and important for you all!

Coming as a surprise was a deliberate decision since our whole team believes this is the right twist we’ve been looking for from the beginning. But the decision wasn’t easy - honestly speaking, it took a lot of courage... but hey, when did boldness ever come easily?

We are introducing a new, utterly fresh figure to the world of Jotunnslayer. Even though he may not entirely fit the Norse aesthetic, we believe he adds to the striking uniqueness of the game...

Karl the Accountant: The Balance Bringer


Lore

Born from the ashes of burnt receipts and the cries of overtaxed merchants, Karl the Accountant is a mysterious figure in the halls of Asgard. Legends say he can calculate compound interest faster than a Valkyrie can draw a blade and strike fear into the hearts of even the fiercest warriors with a stern glance over his half-moon spectacles. He exists to bring order - true balance - and painful audits to those who dare neglect their calculations and opt for mindless moves.



Karl’s Unique and Solid Abilities

  • Taxman’s Wrath (Ultimate Ability) It’s time to pay your dues! Karl slams down a giant ledger, causing a shockwave of flying receipts and paper cuts that deal true damage based on a percentage of the enemy's total HP. All nearby enemies are "Audited" halving their damage output and reducing movement speed for 5 seconds.

  • The Audit (Skill) Let’s take a closer look at those numbers! Karl marks an enemy for an Audit - scanning their weaknesses and revealing them to all allies. The target takes 10% more damage from all sources and drops extra gold on death. If the target survives the Audit, Karl takes interest damage.

  • Debt Collector (Skill) Pay what you owe! Karl throws a glowing contract that chains to up to 3 enemies. Bound enemies are "In Debt" and take increased damage from all sources. If a target dies while In Debt, Karl gains a stack of "Compound Interest" permanently increasing his damage by 2% (up to 10 stacks).

  • Asset Freeze (Skill) Your assets are frozen! Karl channels dark financial magic to "Freeze" a target enemy, rooting them in place for 3 seconds. While frozen, enemies take double damage from attacks, but Karl is unable to attack or move.

  • Revenue Stream (Skill) Steady returns! Karl summons a magical fountain of coins at a location, healing allies and damaging enemies over 5 seconds. Allies in the area gain 10% increased movement speed while enemies suffer a Slow. At the end of the duration, the fountain bursts, scattering coins - providing gold to nearby players.

  • Balance Sheet (Skill) Debits on the left, credits on the right! Karl conjures a magical balance sheet above an enemy, weighing their sins and debts. The enemy becomes "Unbalanced" reducing their damage by 20% and increasing Karl’s damage against them by 30% for 6 seconds.
