Dev Blog #11: Seeress Reborn – New powers, Old secrets

Hi Jotunnslayers!

Welcome to Dev Blog #11 for Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel!
Today’s spotlight shines on the legendary Seeress—an old favorite reimagined and revitalized.
Just like the other classes you’ve experienced in the Jotunnslayer demo, the Seeress has undergone some changes and polish based on your valuable feedback and suggestions.

So, dive in and discover what the improved Seeress has to offer as we approach the Early Access launch!

SEERESS

Weapon: Staff

Ever reclusive and mysteriously powerful, the Seeress has long been the target of both the desperate, looking for their forlorn hope; and the contemptuous, seeking the end of her sinister and eldritch ways. A shadowy and clairvoyant opportunist, able to invoke contempt in the desperate, and desperation for contempt, she seeks to once outsmart the very ancients with her mastery of dark ancient arts.

The Seeress is a dark, staff-wielding witch, perfect for players seeking an eldritch spell caster. She uses her mystical foresight and twisted magic to protect herself and deal damage to her enemies.

WHAT’S NEW WITH SEERESS?

Let’s dive into the updates for our reclusive sorceress—The Seeress. Just like the Berserker, she too has received a few new tools to play around with.

NEW SKILLS

To further enhance the Seeress’ ability to maintain area control, we’ve introduced Magic Missiles—a skill that unleashes projectiles spreading from the Seeress to strike random enemies nearby. When evolved, this ability transforms into a magical ICBM: slamming into foes, exploding on impact, and shattering into smaller missiles for devastating effect.

When it comes to passives, we’ve taken a slightly different direction. First, we’ve made the Seeress more experienced, boosting her experience gains through a new unlockable passive—Divination. Second, based on your feedback and our analysis of the current “wardkeeping meta” (trademark pending), we introduced Healing Wards—giving the Seeress a chance to heal whenever one of her precious bubbles popped.

RECAP OF THE OLD SKILLS

Whether you’re a newcomer or a veteran, our quintessential magic user—and first introduced ranged character—deserves a quick refresh of her identity and ability roster.
The Seeress, a dark and mysterious sorceress, channels her mastery of ancient powers to devastate her enemies.

Her attacks unleash large splashes on impact, while her innate skills balance both offense and defense:

  • Eldritch Wards: Shields you from incoming damage when hit.
  • Augur: Provides a chance for additional options on level-up or after opening a chest.
  • Malicious Wisdom: Experience crystals may deal damage as they travel toward you.

The Seeress supports multiple playstyles in her sorcerous combat:

  • Hag: Focuses on direct damage and damaging auras triggered through Eldritch Wards.
  • Soul Collector: Experience Crystals always deal damage and may refresh Eldritch Wards.
  • Witch: Amplifies suffering through enhanced debuffs and increased damage to debuffed enemies.

—---------

There’s darkness to conquer and slaying to be done, Jotunnslayers!
We hope you enjoyed this quick dive into another class waiting for you in Early Access on January 21st.
The final countdown is on—awake your hidden magic and prepare for battle!
See you in Hel!
Cheers!

Dev Blog 10: Berserker 2.0: A God-like warrior reforged!

Hi Jotunnslayers!

Welcome to Dev Blog #10 for Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel!

We’re back with our weekly character introduction series, and today’s spotlight is on an old favorite with a fresh twist—the one and only Berserker!
Since our last update featuring this god-like warrior, Berserker has undergone a major overhaul in both balancing and design. Thanks to your feedback, this fan-favorite is now an even more polished, badass hero with an upgraded vibe!

BERSERKER: Raging Warrior

WHAT’S NEW WITH BERSERKER?

Berserker’s arsenal has been upgraded with a brand-new active skill (and its Evolve) alongside two new passive skills (As have been all heroes’, of course, but stay tuned.)

NEW SKILLS

As the first to charge into battle, our most battle-scarred warrior has received his updated toolkit ahead of everyone else.
Introducing the Totem of Suffering—a brutal slaughterhouse of spinning death. This skill unleashes a pair of deadly whirling blades that release chains, hooking and dragging enemies unlucky enough to cross their path.

For passives, you can amplify his bloodthirsty, rage-fueled nature with Open Wounds, which gives a chance to inflict bleed on attack, and Adrenaline Rush, which offers a chance to heal the Berserker whenever he enters Rage.

RECAP OF THE OLD SKILLS

Let’s also revisit what makes Berserker a classic melee powerhouse—whether you’re a seasoned Jotunnslayer or a greenhorn upstart gearing up for the first time.
Berserker is the ultimate melee character: a resilient, axe-wielding hack-and-slasher driven by bloodlust and fury. His core abilities reflect this ferocity:

- Rage: Boosts damage, movement speed, and health regeneration.
- Hot Blood: Increases attack speed as HP falls, turning desperation into power.
- Survivor: Provides max health and health regeneration, keeping him alive in the thick of combat.

Berserker also offers versatile playstyles through his subclasses:

- Battle Master: Focuses on raw attack damage.
- Zealot: Channels divine favor, enhancing skill damage.
- Troll Scion: Amplifies Berserker’s innate regeneration, making him even more resilient in the center of the battle.

Berserker’s abilities range from up-close, brutal melee attacks to chaotic battlefield mayhem.
Wherever he fights, destruction follows. :)

—----

We hope you enjoyed this Berserker recap and the improvements you’ll get to experience in full during Early Access!
We’ll keep the character intro series rolling in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Until then, get ready—a lot of slaying is on the horizon.

Cheers!

Dev Blog #9: Dancing with fire: Inside the FLAME SISTER's arsenal

Hey Jotunnslayers!

Welcome to Dev Blog #9 for Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel!

We've been hard at work, inspired by your ideas and feedback, to rework and enhance our characters and classes—giving them more power, new abilities, and plenty of love!
In the upcoming dev blogs, we’ll introduce you to each class, one by one, and give you a sneak peek at what awaits in Early Access.
Today, we’re kicking things off with an inside look at the fiery and fearless FLAME SISTER!
Let's dive in!

FLAME SISTER

Weapons: Daggers

Although empowered by fiery spirits and fanatical in their devotion to Loki’s trickery and ingenuity, the Followers of the Flame have been shunned as outcasts and blasphemers for ages. In the true honor of her ever-defiant patron and empowered by the diligent training of the sisterhood, the Flame Sister seeks redemption for her deeds and vows to be unshackled from the bounds of fate and superstition.

Flame Sister is a highly mobile melee class specializing in swift, lethal strikes and fiery chaos. With a deadly combination of daggers and fire, she excels in offense but lacks defensive capabilities making her a high-risk high-reward class choice.

Skills

As our rogue archetype, Flame Sister brings exactly what you'd expect: agility and finesse, though at the cost of durability. She lacks the straightforward survivability of previous classes but compensates with Evasion passives and an extra Dash charge right from the get go.
A devoted wielder of the primordial flame, her playstyle revolves around fiery spectacles and a touch of assassin-like lethality. Her attack pattern—a rapid flurry of stabs with a chance to trigger a fiery burst that inflicts burn—and her innate ability, a randomly timed explosion around her, showcase her blazing potential perfectly.

Attack Pattern

Blazing Soul Innate

Dance of Daggers

Shrapnel Pot

Flaming Ray

Sisterhood Incarnate

Fire Dart

Subclasses

When it comes to subclasses, Flame Sister stays true to her infernal theatrics and lethal instincts. You can dedicate yourself to the Gods with burning fervor as an Ash Disciple, focusing on enhanced God Skill Damage and an amped-up Blazing Soul. Alternatively, embrace the seductive allure of fire as a Flame Dancer, turning your attacks into a fully infernal spectacle and a formidable fire hazard. Lastly, you can become a disciplined hitwoman as a Smoke Assassin, transforming Blazing Spirit into a smoke bomb that boosts evasion, with a chance to instantly eliminate non-boss enemies.

-----------

Well… Jotunnslayers, there will be flames!

We hope you enjoyed what you saw!
Don’t forget to share your thoughts and feedback on this brand-new, never-before-seen class—we’re listening!
We’ll keep the character intro series rolling in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
Until then, keep your eyes on the horizon... There's much more to come!

Cheers!
