Wild Assault Weekly Log #60: Special Feature – Bulwark and Street-Snake

[p]Valiant Ones, I'm Fang Wen, the lead writer.[/p][p][/p][p]Previously, we recounted the first encounters with several characters. Many have asked: how did those stars, which seemed to have no connection in the records, later find each other's orbits on the star chart of the Mose Corps?[/p][p]Today, let's talk about two of them—Vladimir and Ryan.
Classification: For Internal Circulation Among Valiant Ones[/p]

[p]I. Northern Flame: Vladimir's "Justice"[/p][p]1992, a snowbound town.[/p][p]What I recorded was merely an outcome: the brutal mayor plummeted from the tower, and Vladimir stood atop the battlements, sparks scattering into the night sky like stars.[/p][p]But the first half of the story, I later pieced together from the townsfolk's fragmentary, awe-filled recollections: how this quiet, outsider bear spent weeks listening to their grievances, mending their roofs with hands that could hoist fuel drums, and finally, in silence, made that decision.[/p][p]His "justice" did not stem from law, but from the most fundamental empathy: when the weak are deprived of their last morsel, protection is no longer a choice, but an instinct.[/p][p]When he left, the town had no name, only a codename. And what he took with him was a profound understanding of "power," and a faith of guard that was tempered in the extreme cold into something nearly stubborn.[/p][p]II. Law of the Mire: Ryan's "Survival"[/p][p]Rewind a year. 1991, a sweltering, chaotic port district somewhere in XXX.[/p][p]Gunfire was the background noise here; police uniforms and gang tattoos were equally cause for vigilance. Here, the name "Ryan" meant "negotiable," and also "don't mess with him."[/p][p]I witnessed him walk away unscathed from a conflict once, not through firepower, but through precise knowledge of every alley, every boss's weakness, every grey-market deal. His "kingdom" wasn't in a palace, but at the nodes of the street network.[/p][p]His "loyalty" wasn't pledged to any flag, only to "survival" itself and recognized "partners." In that environment, emotion was a luxury, but "reliable deals" and "unspoken rules" were stronger than any oath.[/p][p]The war was "over," but war here never stopped. What Ryan mastered was another kind of war—one without a frontline, but fought every moment for survival.[/p][p]III. Mose Corps: Converging Trajectories[/p][p]So, how did the guardian of the north and the streetwise survivalist meet?[/p][p]The answer wasn't some romantic encounter. It was the Beast Bone Core.[/p][p]In the early 90s, the precursor network of the Mose Corps began scouring the globe for individuals with special talents. Vladimir's name appeared on certain underground intelligence brokers' lists because of the "Town Incident"—a prime asset with formidable capability, clear moral motivation (easy to understand and utilize), and no complex background.[/p][p]And Ryan? He was part of that intelligence network himself. The Corps needed someone to make contact, assess Vladimir, and safely extract this northerner from a region that could attract unwanted trouble.[/p][p]That task fell to Ryan, who was already a peripheral associate of the Corps at the time.[/p][p]According to the fuzzy records in the archives (and Ryan's own sporadic, tipsy banter (on one occasion).), the first meeting wasn't "friendly." Vladimir was deeply suspicious of this contact with his street-smart aura and talk of "terms"; Ryan, for his part, thought the big northerner was "a bit too idealistic for his own good."[/p][p]The turning point came during an ambush. Old forces tracking Vladimir collided with local rival gangs. Vladimir instinctively tried to form a defensive line, to meet them head-on. Ryan pulled him through the labyrinthine slums, using the terrain, even exploiting the enemies' mutual distrust, letting them fight each other.[/p][p]"See, big guy," Ryan said afterward, "sometimes, clearing a path works better than building a high wall. Your shield can block bullets, but not a knife from the shadows."[/p][p]Looking at this man who navigated chaos like a fish in water, Vladimir realized for the first time that "protection" could take more than one form. Ryan, too, discovered that this seemingly stubborn northerner's pure, unyielding commitment to "what deserves protection" was, in a principle-less grey world, a rare kind of "solid" thing to have at your back.[/p][p]IV. Today's Battlefield: Complementary Bastions[/p][p]Now, within the operational hierarchy of the Mose Corps, they have become a classic duo.[/p]
 • [p]When Vladimir raises his energy shield, establishing a firm frontal line, Ryan's smoke always envelops the flanks at precisely the right moment, obscuring the enemy's sight, transforming a solid "point" into a disorienting "area."[/p]
 • [p]When Ryan initiates his "Savage Charge" to disrupt the enemy formation, Vladimir's "Wrath" autocannon is always there to clear a foothold for the follow-through.[/p]
 • [p]One excels at establishing rules (a position), the other at exploiting and breaking them (chaos). In tactical briefings, Vladimir's proposals are often direct and firm, while Ryan's are full of detours and variables. Arguments are frequent, but the final plans are often strangely effective.[/p]
[p]Their relationship is not that of close friends in the traditional sense, but more a mutual recognition between experts in different fields. Vladimir is the "fixed coordinate" Ryan can trust amidst absolute chaos, and Ryan is the "reality interpreter" Vladimir needs in complex situations.[/p][p]They each saw in the other a philosophy of survival from outside their own world and learned to employ it when necessary.[/p][p]So, the next time you see "Vladimir" and "Ryan" standing side by side on the battlefield, that's not merely the sum of two heavy firepower units. It is the resilient fire of the northern tundra and the street-smart survival wisdom of the southern alleys, forged into a silent, solid alliance within the torrent of the Beast Bone Core conflict.[/p][p][/p]

[p]Thank you for reading.[/p][p]— Fang Wen, Archives Room. The blizzard outside has just ceased.[/p]

[p]That concludes this week's Wild Assault Dev Log. Thank you once again for your support and understanding regarding Wild Assault. Wild Assault Dev Log #58: Black Market Transaction Records & Anonymous Testimony

[p]Hello Wild Ones![/p][p]File ID: RAVEN-23-00213[/p][p]Archivist: Fang Wen · Intelligence Analysis Department, Mose Corps[/p][p]Classification Level: Requires "Silver Key" clearance for decryption[/p]

[p]Last time, I presented to you the complete log of RAVEN-07's encounter with the "Crystal Husk" in the far north. That was a tragedy of energy backlash—a retribution triggered by our over-exploitation of the Beast Bone Core.[/p][p]But today's file is different. It points toward something darker than mere backlash—a clear, calculated malice with intent.[/p][p]The following content is corroborated by three independent sources: an encrypted transaction record from a black-market informant; an anonymous testimony from a former junior technician of the Huli Research Institute; and a fragment of an unsent personal letter I discovered among the late Dr. Lotus's effects, written in her lifetime.[/p][p]I have arranged them in chronological order. The truth may lie in the silences between the lines.[/p]

[p]Document 1: Black Market Transaction Record (Excerpt)[/p][p]Location: Backroom of an underground bar[/p]
[p]Parties: Codename "Raven" (our informant) and Codename "Apothecary" (seller)
Raven: The last batch of "Clarity Agents" worked well. Do you have anything... stronger? The client demands "breaking physiological limits." Side effects are negotiable.
Apothecary: (Long silence) Yes. But it's not on the list. We call it "Dark Tide."
Raven: Effects?
Apothecary: Within 72 hours of injection: muscle density, neural reaction speed, pain suppression rate—every metric you can think of, tripled or more. But the cost is permanent. Skin blackens, like charred leather. Veins bulge, glowing dark purple. Energy... leaks from the pores. Unstoppable.
Raven: Controllable?
Apothecary: (Cold laugh) That's why it's expensive. Not the serum—the "Controller." A chip implanted in the back of each subject's neck, corresponding to different colored signal receivers—red for frenzied assault mode, blue for calm潜伏 mode, gold... rumored to trigger some kind of "unstable evolution." Without the Controller, the subject won't last a week. They'll burn themselves to ash from the inside.
Raven: Source?
Apothecary: Don't ask. Only know it comes from the north. A place that should have been forgotten long ago. The seller calls himself... "The Professor." A madman.[/p]

[p]Document 2: Anonymous Testimony (Audio Transcription)[/p][p]Provider: Former assistant, Laboratory 3, Huli Research Institute (identity verified)[/p][p]Recording Location: Safehouse in a neutral country[/p]
[p]"...I was in charge of cleaning test tubes and disposing of failed samples. So I saw things they didn't want others to see."
"The disputes between Dr. Lian Hua and Dr. Marquez were never just academic. Marquez wanted 'breakthroughs.' Lian Hua wanted 'limits.' But there was a third person... we all called him 'The Professor.'"
"He wasn't on the official roster but had the highest lab clearance. His project was called 'Life Remodeling'—went further than Marquez's 'Super Soldiers.' He didn't want to enhance the human body. He wanted... 'to fully fuse the life properties of the Beast Bone Core with organic matter, to create programmable bio-weapons.'"
"I saw a test subject once. A lab mouse, injected with an early serum. Its eyes turned crystalline. Muscles swelled until the skin tore. But it sat quietly in its cage because of a small, glowing device on the back of its neck. The Professor said to the monitor: 'See? Controlled evolution. This is the future.'"
"Three months before the institute explosion, The Professor and Marquez had a huge fight. I caught fragments through the door. Marquez roared: 'You're creating monsters!' The Professor's voice was calm: 'No. I'm saving them. Giving them a perfect form, beyond fragility.'"
"After the explosion, The Professor vanished. Official reports said he died in the accident. But two months later, I saw the initial description of 'Dark Tide' on the black-market intel network... identical to the symptoms of that lab mouse."[/p]

[p]Document 3: Dr. Lian Hua's Unsent Letter (Fragment)[/p][p]Discovered: Hidden compartment in her study[/p][p]To: Unknown recipient (or perhaps just a diary)[/p][p]Excerpt:[/p]
[p]"...Reviewed the 'Life Remodeling' project proposal again today. A chill to the bone. They call the Beast Bone Core the 'Cornerstone of Life,' yet seek to use it to code programs of death. Marquez is at least obsessed within the framework of 'humanity.' But The Professor... he has discarded all ethical shackles."
"He writes in the proposal: 'When life can be designed, pain can be suppressed, loyalty can be implanted—why fear war? We need only create more perfect soldiers.' I annotated: 'What you will create are not soldiers, but shadows that will inevitably backfire. The essential nature of Beast Bone Core energy is 'growth' and 'adaptation,' not 'obedience.' Forced control will only breed monsters that break all chains.'"
"He did not reply. Only, at the next meeting, a small, golden Controller prototype appeared on the back of his neck. He smiled and said, 'Lian Hua, fear stems from ignorance. And I... am becoming knowledge itself.'"
"I have a Foreboding. Some doors, once opened, can never be closed again. And all of us will live in the shadow of what lies beyond."[/p]

[p]Three documents, pointing to the same dark core.[/p][p]The "Crystal Husk" may be a natural backlash, but "Dark Tide" and those creatures with Controllers are man-made, meticulously crafted tragedies. They are not products of loss of control—they are the extreme product of the very desire for control.[/p][p]"The Professor"—or, "The Mad Scientist"—never left. He merely moved from the sunlit laboratories into deeper shadows. He uses Dark Tide serum to forge weapons, uses Controllers to code loyalty, and perhaps... is even using the Crystal Husk phenomenon for some larger "experiment."[/p][p]What unsettles me most is Dr. Lian Hua's prophecy in her letter: "The essential nature of Beast Bone Core energy is 'growth' and 'adaptation,' not 'obedience.'"[/p][p]When the instinct for "growth" meets the shackles of "obedience," what will ultimately be born?[/p][p]When those Controllers fail, will the modified creatures simply break down... or will they evolve into something even more terrifying?[/p][p]What we face may no longer be merely a war.[/p][p]It is a cruel experiment on the very nature of life, orchestrated by a madman.[/p][p]And all of us... may already be part of the experiment.[/p]

[p]File sealed.[/p][p]Awaiting next decryption.[/p][p]— Fang Wen, in dim light, the typewriter keys have just fallen silent.[/p]

[p]That concludes this week's Wild Assault Dev Log. Thank you once again for your support and understanding regarding Wild Assault. During the game, please report any issues promptly through our social media channels[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Combat Cat Studio[/p][p][/p][p]X:https://x.com/WildAssaultGame[/p][p]Discord:https://discord.gg/WildAssault[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Follow us on social media ⤵️
