Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance TD News

There is someplace in camp where a deadly silence reigns, and no quarrels dare arise. Linireans and Dark Army alike hesitate to approach Raelyn and her Dark Knights.

Still, I was set to interview her, since surely the Commander of the Dark Army assigned by Vez’nan himself would shed some light on this newfound Alliance — and how to keep it together.

"WHO GOES THERE???"

A voice echoed deeply from the helmet, startling me. His sudden appearance sent a shiver down my spine. I couldn't help but notice the heart-shaped tattoo with the letter "R" emblazoned on his arm. They must love her fiercely. I swallowed hard, trying to gather my courage.

“I-I'm Sheepy. Here to interview Raelyn.”

The Dark Knight regarded me with fiery red eyes, their gaze piercing through me. For a moment, I feared they would turn me away, but to my surprise, they stepped aside and motioned for me to enter the enclave. “SHE’LL SEE YOU", he rumbled in a deep, gravelly voice.


"Make it quick, I don't have all day."

Glowing red eyes greeted me, dripping with contempt.

“Right, understood. How did you ascend to command the Dark Army?”

Her gaze pierces through the dim light, her features obscured by shadows.

"My origins are inconsequential, but know this: I emerged as a Squire and swiftly ascended ranks to Dark Knight during Vez'nan's victorious Crusade."

"I was entrusted with the leadership of a specialized unit against the mightiest adversaries. The success of my squadron was such that the Dark Lord himself demanded my presence within his innermost circle."

"And now, here I stand."

“But how do you cultivate such devotion among your knights?”
“Loyalty is earned, not given freely. I lead by example, fighting side by side with my Knights on the frontlines. I unveil my face to serve as a reminder of our shared destiny on the battlefield. If it comes to it, we're prepared to face oblivion together."

“I can see that… Thank you for sharing your insights.”
“Now, leave, Sheep. Consider this your sole audience with me.”

Here's a quick recap of last week's the questions and answer session with the devs. Let's dive in!


Q: How long have you been working on Kingdom Rush 5?
A: We've been at it for over two and a half years now. Started back in February 2022 and it's been quite the journey getting it ready for the big release on July 25th.

Q: Why add the option to use two heroes at once?
A: We wanted to shake things up and inject some fresh dynamics into the gameplay. Allowing players to control two heroes simultaneously opens up new strategic possibilities and new dynamics in the game.

Q: How many stages are there in the main campaign?
A: There are a total of 16 stages to conquer in the main campaign, each with its unique challenges.

Q: Are there any returning heroes or towers?
A: We've brought back some fan-favorite iconic towers to give players a nostalgic nod to the past Kingdom Rush games, especially the trilogy. That's why we have the classic Paladins, the Royal Archers, the Arcane Mages and Necromancers. However, we've also introduced a host of new heroes to keep things fresh and exciting.

Q: Who is the Overseer?
A: The Overseer is an interdimensional creature that feasts on worldsHe's a world-devouring entity with a voracious appetite for destruction. We see this creature on Iron Marines and also in Legends. He's trapped outside of space and time, so he can be in many different places at almost the same time.

Q: When does Alliance take place? Is it before Legends or after?
A: Alliance picks up a few months after the events of Vengeance, but it also overlaps with the timeline of Legends. In summary, until a certain point in the game both games are in parallel, but then the Alliance will continue from where we left off in Legends of Kingdom Rush.

Q: Can we expect updates when the game is released?
A: Absolutely! We've got plans for post-release content, including new campaigns, heroes, and towers.

Q: Will Alliance be a more challenging game?
A: We're trying to go for more Frontiers and Origins experience. Controlling two heroes adds a whole new level of challenge to the game. Waves are going to be a little bit more charged and the pacing increases on some levels. It starts low, then it goes up.

Q: Do we get two hero abilities?
A: Indeed you do! With two heroes at your disposal, you'll have access to a wide range of abilities. Instead of having your Rain of Fire, you will have the second hero spell. There are many combinations to try.Some heroes are better at certain tasks than others, so we like the idea of you actually mixing and matching them the way you see fit.

Q: Will this be the final installment of the Kingdom Rush series?
A: The short and only answer I can give is no, it won’t be the last one. Beat the overseer and see what comes after that.
