[h2]Who is WDC?[/h2]
WDC, Whale and Dolphin conservation is the leading global charity dedicated to the protection and conservation of whales and dolphins.

Their expert-led teams in the UK, Europe, the Americas, and Australasia work across the whole spectrum of threats, from climate breakdown to accidental entanglements in fishing gear. They bring together, and work hand-in-hand with, businesses, philanthropists, scientists, NGOs, governments and grassroots communities to find solutions to the problems faced by whales and dolphins.
Their aim is to reverse the global decline in whale and dolphin populations by creating safe seas for these majestic creatures.

Entanglement in fishing gear, or ‘bycatch’ as it’s known, is the biggest threat whales and dolphins face. Many hundreds of thousands die in nets or get tangled up in fishing gear every year. As air-breathing mammals like us, when they get trapped in a net, panic can take over and they can sustain terrible injuries before either escaping, or suffocating. It is a massive problem and so WDC is working on some innovative solutions. 


[h2]What WDC has been doing so far
[/h2]Working across the globe to protect whales, dolphins and porpoises from dying in fishing gear:

• They’re collaborating with creel fishers in Scotland to trial new types of fishing gear to reduce entanglements of humpback and minke whales.
  
• They’re working with colleagues and partner organisations in the Central Baltic Sea to develop a recovery plan for a critically endangered group of Baltic harbour porpoises.
  
• On the west coast of the United States, critically endangered North Atlantic right whales are facing extinction. Entanglement is a massive threat to their survival, and WDC have been working with fishers to trial alternative gear types.
  
• In Hong Kong WDC have been supporting local community efforts and working with fishers to save the remaining 200 Indo-Pacific finless porpoises from extinction due to bycatch.
  
• These projects are saving lives, and they are powered by inspiring people working together for the ocean.

[/h2]By purchasing games from this year’s World Ocean Day sale, you will help WDC continue these vital conservation projects across the globe, as well as enable WDC’s team to embark on new efforts to bring further protections for whales and dolphins, like the Sri Lankan gillnet fisheries project:

• Sri Lanka is home to many species of whales, dolphins and porpoises as well as a myriad of other sensitive marine species like sea turtles that are vulnerable to entanglement in gillnets – these are nets that hang in the water like a wall. With funding, WDC hopes to collaborate with Sri Lankan artisanal tuna fisheries that use gillnets to trial new gear types and reduce the impact their fishing has on marine life, while still enabling them to earn their living.
  

Whales and dolphins are awe-inspiring. They are intelligent beings, vital for the health of the ocean and planet. Together we can still help them recover and flourish and they can help us reconnect with the wild, and repair the damage we have caused.

Hello General! Your favorite ovine reporter’s been invited to interview none other than Broden, the fearless dwarven Gryphon rider!

Finding Broden’s backyard on the Linirean Camp was a breeze, thanks to the MASSIVE Linirean flag waving like it’s the 4th of July. As I got closer, Broden swooped down from his Gryphon to greet me.



Broden: "Alright, listen up, little woolly buddy. You and me, we’re gonna have a real talk. You’re ready for some BBQ?"

I reached for the vegan option as I searched my notebook for questions.

Sheepy: “Let’s start with your Gryphon. How did you two become such a dynamic duo?”

Broden: “Ah, Liberty... she ain't just any Gryph, she’s my partner! I was a young dwarf honing my aim in the mountains when a stray bullet rang out, and I heard a squawk like no other. I tracked it down and found the most majestic beast I’d ever seen. Couldn't just leave her there! I Nursed her back to health for countless days and nights. We've been inseparable ever since. ”

Sheepy: “Most dwarves love their gadgets, but you're all about firepower and your feathered friend. What's the deal with that?”

Broden: “The Dwarven Air Force? Hah! They’re too busy fiddling with flying machines and playing with their toys since Wilbur whipped up that contraption. Me? I'm old school – Liberty and my guns is all I need.”


Sheepy: "Final question: What made you join the Alliance?"

Broden:  "If it were up to me, I’d be unloading my clips on those home-invading Dark Army scumbags. But as much as I despise 'em, I love my Linirea more. So, I signed up to rain hell on those cultists to protect my homeland."

Broden grew bored of the interview and gestured toward the sky.

Broden: "Hey, enough talk! How about a spin on Liberty? Hold tight, we're about to fly like it's doomsday!"

I hopped on Liberty's back, clutching onto Broden's waist as we shot into the sky. The wind roared in my ears as we barrel-rolled through clouds, Broden's laughter mingling with Liberty's victory screeches. 

At that moment, high above the world, wind rushing through my fur as we soared through the skies, I realized that freedom, true freedom, is worth fighting for.

Welcome back to our weekly interview with your favorite four-legged reporter!

I'm over the moon because I'm meeting with Selenir, the mystical Elven Stargazer. She's a priestess who harnesses cosmic energies to fight for our Alliance - a true force to be reckoned with.

The Stargazing temple was a sight to behold, even from a distance. 

A simple yet mesmerizing stone platform overrun with rich green moss, it radiated an incredible power. As I approached the steps of the temple, I heard a soft voice speaking from the center of the structure. 

Selenir: "Hail, traveler of the flock. I sense the light of curiosity shining in you".

Sheepy:  "My pleasure! Thank you for agreeing to this interview!"



Sheepy: "Can you tell us more about the cosmic energies you work with? Are they connected to the void? 

Selenir: "My power originates from the Cosmos - the moon, stars, and other celestial bodies forever at play, orbiting in the cosmic dance of the universe."

The priestess gestured at the sky, eyes wide with wonder. "Space may seem lifeless, but it's imbued with energy, forever in flux. The Void, on the other hand, is a realm of darkness, unknown and dangerous. I steer clear of its treachery".

Sheepy: "I see. Many believe that elves draw their magic from nature. Is that connected to your power as well?"

Selenir (smiling sadly): "That used to be true before our world was plagued with tragedies…  the corruption of the Tear of Elynie, the loss of our dragon, war, and destruction. We were all of a sudden disconnected from the source."

With a heavy heart, she added after a long pause:

Selenir: "So many Elves fell to despair. Their path became aimless and their hearts darkened inside. It pains me deeply... my people have lost their way."

Sheepy: "I’m so sorry. You seem to have found yours, though."

Selenir: "Often, when you are lost, you feel disconnected from the universe. Alone. Yet the Stars and Moon reminded me that I had always belonged, and I found my place again in the family of things."

Sheepy:  "Is that why you decided to become a priestess?"

Selenir: "Yes, my path led me to the realization that there are infinite sentient beings still lost, seeking meaning. I swore a solemn bow to guide them and protect them all from harm. It’s the reason I’m fighting in our Alliance."

Sheepy: "Your resilience and dedication are truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with me."

Selenir: "May the stars guide and protect you, young one. "

As darkness fell, Selenir cast a light orb that guided my path back to my tent. Once I was safely home, her magic dissolved into stardust, twinkling as it slowly floated in the air - a mesmerizing and magical sight. 

I paused to reflect on the encounter. Selenir's words lingered in my mind, a reminder of the profound connections that bind us all, even in times of great despair. I thanked the stars for bringing such a strong ally to our cause, feeling a renewed sense of purpose, by the light of the moon.

Hello once again, General! It's your favorite ovine reporter, bringing you the Alliance's latest news. Let's continue getting to know our ranks.

Today, I'm interviewing none other than Chim and Churri, the goblin cousins conducting the infamous Onagro war machine.

I know exactly where to find them: in the heart of the Dark Army encampment, amidst the clang of metal and the rumble of machinery.

When they noticed me approaching, the two goblin tinkerers paused their handiwork to greet me.

Sheepy: “Thank you for agreeing to my interview!”

Churri: “Buckle up! This is gonna get interesting.“


I gestured towards the imposing figure of Onagro looming just outside the tent.

Sheepy: "So, tell me about the inspiration behind your giant mecha. How did you come up with THAT?"

Chim: "Well, you see, Sheepy, it all started with a little bit of goblin madness and a whole lot of stolen dwarven doodads!"

Churri: (nodding enthusiastically). "Oh, yeah! We mixed and mashed for a whole day and night until we got Onagro, the ultimate war machine! Care for a tour?"

Churri showed me around, pointing out the heavy arsenal aboard the imposing wood and metal war machine. Chim followed closely, looking proud.

Churri: "We've got bombs, we've got mines, we've got rockets, we've got a goblin zeppelin to provide cover fire - all the good stuff to make Onagro the most badass greenskin war machine in the land!"

Sheepy: "Well, it certainly sounds impressive! But I have to ask, how did you come up with the name Onagro?"

Chim: "Believe it or not, 'ona' means 'big' in goblin, and 'gro' is short for 'grot', which is our word for goblin. So, put them together and you get 'big goblin'!"

Churri: "Or you could just say, it sounded cool and scary, and that's how we roll!"



Sheepy: "I see. It's truly fearsome. But why must you two man the vehicle?"

Chim: "I'm the pilot, my part is to manouver at full throttle on the battlefield."

Churri: "The fun part's all mine! I send our bombs, mines, and rockets a flying toward our foes like a bunch of angry bees! Buzz, buzz, boom, baby!"

Churri was so excited he couldn't stop talking. "And I always try to add new weapons and gadgets to our arsenal! Like, last week I came up with this awesome idea for a flamethrower. Chim wasn't too sure about it though."

Chim (rolling his eyes): "Yeah, because the last time we tried your 'awesome idea', we almost blew up the entire mecha! Remember that, Churri?"

Churri waved him off with a dismissive grin, "Pshh, details, details.”

I thanked them for their time, still laughing at their antics,

As I looked around at Onagro's various weapons and gadgets, I realized just how much thought and ingenuity these pair of goblins put into every single aspect of this mechanical marvel. Seeing them rollin’ in perfect sync is a sight to behold!

Good day, everyone! This is Sheepy, reporting live from the Alliance Camp. 

Today, I've got quite a hot interview for you all. I'm about to venture into the Dark Army camp to interview none other than the imps from the Demon Pit. Let's see what they have to say!

It’s usually pretty easy to find them. You just have to follow the smoke trail visible from miles away. 

Look, there they are!



Miguel: Well, well, well, look who's come to visit us. What brings a fluffy reporter like you to our humble abode?

Sheepy: I’m interviewing the ranks, and getting to know our Alliance better. What brought you here?

Miguel: (chuckling) It's quite the tale. Us demons got sent to dig up gold in the dwarven mines to expand the Dark Lord’s treasury. But we didn’t mine for very long.



Sheepy: And what happened?

Miguel: (smirking) One day, we stumbled upon this magnificent lava spring deep in the mines. And let me tell you, it was like finding paradise. We realized that we didn't have to hate our jobs anymore. 

Imp: Let's just say we found our true calling: relaxation!

Sheepy: So you turned the Demon Pit into your own personal spa retreat?

Miguel: You could say that. Why slave away in the dark when you can relax in the warm glow of molten lava? We may still have to fight, but at least now we do it on our terms. And let me tell you, this lava pool does wonders for the complexion!

The other imps nod in agreement, some lazily floating on inflatable rafts

Sheepy: And what about your new abilities, such as explosive damage? How did those come about?

Miguel: (grinning) Ah, those are just a few perks of our improved working conditions. Plus, a steady diet of lava fumes does wonders for your explodability.

Sheepy: Fascinating! And I hear you hold the record for the best fighter with a towel?

Miguel: (proudly puffing out his chest) No one can wield a towel like I can. It's just one of the many talents I've developed since we upgraded our workplace.



I thanked them for their time and wandered off, feeling a sense of warmth both from the hot air and the unexpectedly charming encounter with Miguel and his crew.

As I strolled back towards my tent, I reflected on the imps' approach to life. After all, amidst the chaos of battle, finding moments of relaxation and joy is essential for maintaining one's sanity! 

Perhaps I should consider joining Miguel and his crew for a dip in the lava pool a couple of times a week?
