Airships: Lost Flotilla News

Version 1.0.8

Fixes and Adjustments

  • Fixed plink damage being unable to kill players, which means getting enough armor no longer makes you invulnerable.
  • Grenades and flak guns now have fuses, which means that they will explode once they've reached the distance to their intended target.
  • Increased reload time of flak gun from 0.6 to 0.8 seconds.
  • If you restart a wave after dying, empty weapon slots are no longer refilled with weapons from the starting version of your ship.
  • Damage dealt is now added up correctly in post-wave stats.
  • Shot speed changes no longer affect range.
  • Added mods screen translations.

Modding

  • Manual entries can now unlock multiple things. Use e.g. unlockWeapons instead of unlockWeapon with a list of weapons to unlock.
  • Added fuse flag to WeaponType.
  • Added levelStartScrap and playerShotSpeedPc to EquipmentType.
  • The game now uploads the correct English name and description for mods even if your game is not currently set to English.
  • Mods now default to using non-premultiplied alpha for images, which means translucency effects work the way you'd expect them to.

You can look up the details of all of these in the modding documentation.

Version 1.0.7 & Modding & Workshop Support

Mods are here!
With this update, you can now create mods for the game and subscribe to them via the Steam Workshop. There are already a number of example mods and some first mods made by beta testers.

How to get mods
  • Go to the workshop
  • Subscribe to the mods you want
  • Launch Airships: Lost Flotilla
  • Go into the mods screen
  • Enable the mods you want to use
  • Hit Apply
How to make mods Bugfixes
This update also fixes some minor bugs:
  • Selecting Brother Zinn and then hitting escape in the difficulty selection now resets the ship selector properly.
  • Remaining time in On Dragons research is now shown correctly.
  • There is now an upper limit to the number of Shellflies the Shellfloater spawns.
  • You can no longer have more than one monocoque upgrade. That would be a uh, polycoque, which makes no sense.
What's next?
  • I'm heading over to Airships: Conquer the Skies to do a bugfix update there.
  • Then, I'll be working on a bigger update for Lost Flotilla with some more content and achievements.
  • I'm also starting to think about what my next project should be - more on that later.

Version 1.0.6 & Modding Beta

  • You can now fight the final boss with the assistance of the church, which gives you a Great Blessing, which gives +40% HP, +10% reload speed, +10% escort reload speed.
  • Showing piercing amount on weapons.
  • Gun Skyboats and other escorts no longer go so close to their enemies that their shots miss.
  • More visible non-OS cursor.
  • Can no longer ram enemies that are still spawning.
  • Laine's ability now works for all control schemes.
  • The Exterminator's accuracy decrease is now shown properly in the ship stats.
  • Upgrading wrecker escorts is no longer free.
  • Went over fire damage per time and resistances for all enemies and bosses.
  • Further performance improvements.
  • May have fixed stutter happening during screen shake caused by gamepad issues.

Also, the modding support is now in beta! If you'd like to try out modding the game, switch to the "modding-beta" branch in Steam, join this group to be able to see the Steam Workshop, and look at the detailed documentation and examples. You can also join our Discord to ask questions, give feedback, and talk about modding.

Upcoming Modding Support

Now that the post-release dust has settled, I'm working on adding modding and workshop support to Airships: Lost Flotilla.

You'll be able to add and modify existing weapons, player ships, equipment, and more. My previous game had extensive mod support, so I'm building on my experience to build on its strengths and avoid some pitfalls.

For now, you can read the work in progress modding documentation here, or discuss modding the game on the Discord.

And again, thank you for all your support, feedback, and kind words.

Version 1.0.5

  • Stelas work again.
  • Improved performance.
  • Higher contrast for selecting map nodes.
  • Lord Brizendine no longer makes explosive weapons piercing, which caused them to not actually, you know, explode.
  • Fixed two puzzles in the manual. If you're looking for clues, have another try at the traitors and the moons.

Happy year of the snake!
