Devlog: Building
Hello there!
In today's devlog, we would like to share some news and updates to the building system, which is a core gameplay element in Symbiosis. Let's jump into it!

Symbiosis is all about defending the core against swarms of enemies. Without a base, it’s impossible, and without building systems… Well there are no bases!
But the importance of construction goes far beyond stacking walls around your Core:
- Victory hinges on smart defence. Good fortifications and well-placed structures are the difference between holding the line or being overwhelmed.

- Building accelerates the whole game loop. As you expand your bastion, you unlock systems that boost your character, improve mobility, let you travel further, and reach deeper into the alien world.

- Exploration depends on your infrastructure. With the right upgrades, you can venture out to seal nest openings, discover rare enemies, and gather uncommon resources.

Whether you're a strategist who loves optimizing layouts or a wanderer who wants the base to run while you explore, building is at the heart of every decision.
Materials: construction starts with two core resources, easy to find and essential for expanding your first bastion around the Core.
But as your ambitions grow, so do your needs:
- A third, rarer resource becomes crucial for crafting advanced buildings. Securing it means pushing further into the map, holding new territory, and surviving higher threats.
- Some structures also require special items to reach their full potential. These rare components unlock upgraded behaviors, stronger effects, or new interactions.
Players will have access to four main categories of structures, each critical to the ecosystem of your bastion:
1. Conversion Structures
Collect, refine, and consume resources. These buildings fuel your economy and keep your entire base running.

2. Offensive Structures
From focused lasers to wide-area blasts, these are your automated weapons. They deal damage in various patterns and playstyles, helping you handle massive enemy counts through clever use of your surroundings and smart positioning.

3. Defencive Structures
Walls, doors, baits, funneling systems, anything that controls the flow of enemies or shapes the battlefield. Good defences buy time, create kill-zones, and let your offensive structures do their job.

4. Character-Oriented Structures
Some structures will help your prisoner evolve in the game. Being by mobility through teleportation. Or by upgrading your abilities through a biomass injection technology.
