Devlog - Gamescom

Hey there, Survivors!
In today’s devlog, we want to share some insights about our development journey that leads us to the upcoming Gamescom! Let’s jump right in!
We're incredibly excited, and a bit nervous too, to be honest! It’s our first time showing Land of Symbiosis in such a big international setting.

We’ve been working quietly behind the scenes for a while now, so finally getting to share what we’ve been building with press, partners, and players feels like a big milestone.

It started with a clear goal: we wanted to make a survival game that felt fresh, hopefully not just another stone-axe simulator.

Our early ideas around symbiotic creatures, electromagnetism, and procedural ecosystems helped shape the vision of the sci-fi survival game Land of Symbiosis would become. Since then, it’s been about building the game piece by piece. We're focused on developing the core gameplay and making sure it really clicks with players. In that sense, the upcoming playtest will be a huge help in gathering feedback before we reach our next big milestones.

Narrowing down the scope while still staying true to the game's identity.
When you're working on something new, it's tempting to chase every cool idea.
We had to make tough decisions about what features to keep for Early Access and what to delay, especially as a young indie studio.

Also, survival mechanics are a crowded genre, so making sure we had a real reason to exist, not just a different art style, was a big part of the challenge. For that we are confident our base defense focus will bring a great gameplay experience.

Seeing the core gameplay loop come together, the moment where we could actually play it, not just imagine it, that was magic. Also, the random, weird bugs we encountered along the way were often hilarious.

We’re grateful for the support we've gotten so far. This game is being shaped not just by us, but by the feedback and interest from the community.

Gamescom is just one step, an important one, but we’re in this for the long haul. We’ll keep sharing our journey openly, and we can’t wait to hear what you all think once you get your hands on the game.

Devlog - Creatures

Hey there, Survivors!
In today’s devlog, we want to share some insights about the Creatures you will be able to find in the game. Being prepared and knowing your enemy is a key to survival! Let’s jump right in!
The creatures in the game are part mechanical, part organic beings that have been artificially modified. Throughout the game, you’ll gradually uncover why and how this happened. As players survive through the cycles, new creatures will adapt and evolve into unique variations with special abilities, bringing fresh challenges to defending your base.

For Early Access, players will encounter five families of creatures. Each family will include a primal creature along with several variations. We’ll reveal more about these variations in future dev posts.

As cycles pass and you explore further into the environment, you’ll encounter increasingly powerful creatures, adding new layers of challenge.

While some larger creatures will appear alone or in tiny groups due to their powerful abilities, smaller ones will gradually form larger and larger swarms.

Base defense is a core aspect of Land of Symbiosis. Each type of defense you can build has unique strengths designed to counter different creatures as they appear. Players will need to experiment with different tactics to figure out which defenses work best in various situations.

For the 1.0 release, we plan to add not only more enemy types but also a richer pacifist wildlife ecosystem. Right now, our focus is on enemy creatures, but over time, the entire world will feel more alive through updates.

Land of Symbiosis will be at Gamescom!
