Oh no, not again

Hello there!
Bad news - the server went down again last night, again for a power outage, this time of the building where the server is. Until the conditions improve and we can guarantee a better environment, I've taken the decision to take the server with me and move it to a less outage-prone location, which is definitively not my house.

I'm really sorry for all the inconvenience.

Power outage and multiplayer games

Howdy folks,

as Cody mentioned in his Hotfix changelog, the Barrage server had a major breakdown which happened last night. What we initially thought was just a network outage turned out to be a severe power disruption that involved the whole neighborhood, which drained the emergency battery and brought down the server machine.

While we were able to fix the situation, thus returning to the normal operational level, we had to manually restart all the services involved. This means, however, that all the ongoing online matches have been lost in the process.

If you were impacted by the outage or your game has been canceled, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience, and we hope it won't happen again in the future.

Hotfixes #2

Good evening everybody!

First of all, let me thank you all again for sticking around! Your feedback and reports have been invaluable!
On Sunday we released a new build with a few hotfixes and changes, and with this post comes a new one! (v1.0 b.839)

Before listing the fixes and changes, a bit of bad news: the Barrage server is currently offline, due to a network outage in the server area. We will be online again as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Now, here are all the fixes done since the last post:

+ UNDO - fixed tech tiles getting undone outside the wheel
+ UNDO - fixed player company power indicator
+ UNDO - fixed water drop not getting removed after using fill dam tech tile
+ UNDO - fixed actions popup not disappearing during undo if open when undo button pressed
+ AI - fixed bug causing "CantPayEntryPrice" when trying to use the advanced tech tile "excavators==concrete mixers" plus they had Solomon PJ as an XOs and the structure they were trying to place was on a paid slot
+ AI - fixed bug causing "MoreFavourableActionAvailable" when, with Krylov, trying to clone a tech tile that required no engineers but ended up cloning a different one
+ AI - fixed bug causing "ZegermansinvalidPowerPlant" when forbidden Germany power plant was used to resolve the ability
+ fixed tech tiles being selectable and acquirable during opponents turns
+ fixed Octavious causing the popup size to stay increased if closed with the X button
+ fixed bug on Octavious where, if multiple penstocks-rights to pay were present, only one would get paid and animated
+ fixed production popup UI with Octavious when switch between different production complexes
+ fixed bug where sometimes contracts selection in the action popup footer could cause the game to get stuck
+ fixed a bug that would sometimes cause the footer of the actions popup to not open
+ fixed a bug in end-round score calculation when only two players were present, where one player would get 6 points and the other 0 instead of 4 and 4
+ added other missing Chinese characters
+ added missing Japanese characters
+ reworked multiplayer session handling to (hopefully) avoid invalid refresh token
+ fixed tutorial talking head going outside the screen in turn order step in 3:2 aspect
+ fixed contracts layout sometimes occupying only half the space at hand
+ fixed main menu getting stuck on Windows when deleting the last game present
+ fixed overly bright company power unlock animation for the "cream" player

Changes:

+ changed mandatory actions to be optional
+ changes some popups positions based on the ongoing situation
+ added tooltip for unlocked incomes even when playing a 2 players game (big players boards)
+ player board - removed production bonus icon, leaving only the value (the icon, with an explicative label, is still present in the tooltip)
+ log bar - increased decorative glass transparency, to increase readability
+ increased bonus tiles tooltip size and fonts
+ increased company details tooltip size and fonts
+ increased XOs details tooltip size and fonts
+ increased game objective details tooltip size and fonts
+ dedicated tooltip for opponents locked incomes when playing a 2 players game (big player boards)
+ reduced volume of rain loop during water phase

Welcome to Barrage everybody!

First and foremost, a huge thank you to everyone who has bought the game and given us a chance — we truly appreciate it!

Also, big thanks to those who’ve sent in feedback or reported issues. Your input helps us make the game better!

Since launch, we've been working on hotfixes and we released a few "quick" builds already and as you’re reading this, another one is on the way!

There's still plenty to do, but here’s a quick rundown of the major fixes so far:

+ Fixed UI layout on screens with aspect ratio over 21:9
+ Fixed some shadows not being laid out in the background
+ Fixed a bug where sometimes (for sure when paying "penstock rights" to other players), the total amount of credits for an action would persist in the footer of the popup, causing problems down the line.
+ Fixed map building slot highlights staying on when switching to another action without closing the popup.
+ Fixed Germany special power icon getting stuck when used by an opponent
+ Fixed a bug where Viktor Fiesler ability was counted as active by the UI, letting the user close contracts that were actually unavailable, causing an error to appear.
+ Fixed a bug preventing the AI to use the Germany special power if triggered (they would skip it every times)
+ Fixed a bug where reloading a game would cause some "hidden" values to be shown in the log messages for Germany special power, free dams or free penstocks
+ Patent Office : fixed some highlights staying on after buying a tech tile
+ Main menu game details - replaced the thumbnail behind the name of the map with the intended one
+ Added missing characters to Chinese font
+ Replaced wrong icon of Gennaro Grasso in his popup with the correct one
+ Fixed a missing localisation in the production popup
+ Fixed wrong implementation for the game objective "Altitute with the least buildings built"
+ Fixed Undo not being interactable during the "end turn" phase

And heres a list of changes :
+ Increased size of all tooltip across the board with slightly bigger font size
+ Enabled hints on opponents incomes (when still locked) when playing against 1 opponent (big player board). The tooltip shown is the same as the one shown for the player; this is not great since includes irrelevant information. We'll work on a new version just for this scenario.
+ Changed the icons used for tech tiles powers in order to try and increase readability. The new icons have a black outline and/or a bit of shadow. This was the original solution we intended to use but discarded at the last moment due to problems with tweeking the anti-aliasing. We still have those problems so the solution still isn't ideal, we will work hard to come up with a better final result.
+ Changed the colour of the dim on the map when hovering, from gray to deep blue, to (hopefully) improve overall readability on the map.
+ Slightly changed layout of map name in the main menu game details
+ Tweeked a few steps in the tutorials
+ Slightly increased tech tiles size in the patents office for better readability

We took note of all your feedback and we still have things to fix and improve and we will.

In particular we will address all the UI glitches and errors caused by the undo functionality.
There will also be a change to address a misinterpretation of a game rule where if at the end of the round a player still had advanced tech tile that didn't require engineers to be used and could build something with those, it would be forced to use it as a mandatory action.
In those cases the action will be changed to be optional.

For those who asked, yes, we plan to add more challenging AIs.
