In this publication, we continue sharing details of the upcoming improvements and new content including a new progression system, interface tweaks, reworked maps "Phantom Zone" and "Oil Depot" as well as other changes.

Please note that the features described are preliminary and can be subject to change per general testing results.

[h3]Game Improvements[/h3]

Progression System

The progression system is a linear character development throughout its in-game life. Previously, it included ranks and the vendor system that stimulated players to move on, reach new heights and receive various in-game bonuses for their success.

The current system is outdated - important items for beginners (for example, Specter equipment) unlocked via the vendor system become available too late; it is not interesting to develop the character; there are no new ranks, and the rewards for them are unattractive. Another significant disadvantage of the existing progression is that it is difficult for a new player to understand.

We decided to change this by redesigning the system so that the player always had the motivation to level up, no matter what stage of the game they are currently at. You can learn more about the new system from a dedicated publication or the video below.

Texture Streaming

We continue to rework textures to fully implement the technology allowing to optimize the PC load. The upcoming update will be the second stage of the process and it will weigh ~10.53 GB. However, the overall required disk space will not increase.

Reworked Interface

In the upcoming season, we will gradually introduce both visual and technical changes to make the game interface more user-friendly. The list of planned improvements includes:

  • updating player progress section;
  • displaying equipment specs in the modification window, a pop-up window notifying about obtaining a new item;
  • updating item information pop-up (e.g. Battle Pass level up reward);
  • technical improvements to the interface - the performance of the game client will be improved in some sections;
  • updating certain icons.


[h3]New Content[/h3]

Slide Activation via the Crouch Button

The game will feature an alternative combination to activate the slide. It works in the following way: while dashing, the player presses the "crouch" button (Ctrl by default), thereby performing a slide. This movement will work as a transitional state between the dash and the crouch positions. Therefore, the final pose will depend on the options selected for the crouch in the settings: "to press the button" or "to hold the button". The new scheme can be activated or disabled in the control settings.

[h3]Content Changes[/h3]

Reworked Maps "Phantom Zone" and "Oil Depot"

In the future season, we will continue to improve your favourite maps. The "Phantom Zone" and "Oil Depot" maps will be significantly redesigned. You are in for both visual and gameplay improvements.

The "Phantom Zone" map will sport upgraded looks, new weather conditions and redesigned lighting. In addition, various effects and anomalies will appear on the map.

The "Oil Depot" map will also change - object looks will be improved, and unintended spots that could be shot through will be removed. The map will offer new passages allowing players to attack from new positions.

Inactive Clan Disbanding



Soldiers!

United by the common goal and interests, many of you have found friends in the game. Dozens of battles won together, hundreds of hours of collaborative efforts and fun, thousands of enemies eliminated - very often it is vital to have a reliable teammate to watch your back. A good team makes a clan, and a good clan becomes a family.

However, unlike a real-life family, if clan members no longer spend time together, it ceases to exist. We have to inform you that the clans whose members have not logged in for 6 months or more will soon be disbanded.

The leaders of the clans facing disbanding have received a corresponding notification. Can you preserve "your family"? Yes, you can. To prevent dismantling, a clan member should log in before the procedure kicks off.

Agent Viking - Already in Game!

A new agent Einar Fredriksson, known as Agent Viking, has joined the ranks of Engineers. Einar is an experienced soldier, a top performer in combat. He started his career in the national army and became a good sapper within a few months of service. Later, Fredriksson tore up the contract and founded a private military company.

The agent is part of the "Snowstorm" seasonal update. You can learn more about it in a separate publication.

[h3]Details[/h3]

Einar Fredriksson was born in Iceland and at first, didn't think that the military career was for him, he was working as a history teacher at a local school. But after a few years, this monotonous life bored him. He wanted to see the world and change his career, so he joined the ranks of the coast guard.

During his first patrol in the Mediterranean, pirates attacked the boat. The fight was difficult, the crew lost a lot of people, but in the end, the Icelanders managed to fight off the intruders. And surprisingly, the "fresh meat" Einar managed to play an important role in the battle. As soon as the ship returned to the port, Fredriksson was invited to a special forces squad. They had to persuade him for a long time, but in the end, he agreed. The squad was assigned to a dangerous mission, and the country needed people with even the smallest combat experience since it didn't have a standing army. After a couple of months of training, Einar became a sapper.

Then there were hot spots and local conflicts that over the years hardened the former teacher. But still, he and the other Icelandic fighters that were in the unified international grouping were looked down upon. They were rarely assigned to important missions. So wasn't surprising when Einar tore up the contract when the opportunity arrived and created a private military company he named "Valknute", which only recruited Scandinavian veterans. And it paid off because the descendants of the Vikings were very hardy and brave warriors. The "Valknute" fighters brilliantly handled operations, that others were too scared to take up. Just the look of the bearded mercenaries, whose uniform is decorated with Norse patterns and runes, instils pure fear in their enemies.

[h3]Agent Viking Set[/h3]

The game now features a new weapon series "Asgard" including the Quarter Circle 10 SMG Custom, TEC-9 and Khopesh. The novelties are already available in the game store.



The agent set also sports brand new weapon charms. Decorate your arms with cool accessories!



Moreover, special achievements for kills made with the new weapons and unique spoils of war designed in the agent's style have been added to the game. Eliminate opponents with "Asgard" arms, earn cool distinctions and pin them on your profile!

[h3]New Contracts[/h3]

New contracts with the agent related content are already available in the game. Complete tasks to get "Asgard" weapons, Agent Viking Suit Box, unique distinctions designed in the agent's style, a weapon charm and other useful items.

[h3]About the system[/h3]

The current system is outdated - important items for beginners (for example, Specter equipment) unlocked via the vendor system become available too late; it is not interesting to develop the character; there are no new ranks, and the rewards for them are unattractive. Another significant disadvantage of the existing progression is that it is difficult for a new player to understand.

We decided to change this by redesigning the system so that the player always had the motivation to level up, no matter what stage of the game they are currently at.

[h3]What will Change?[/h3]

Key Changes

The vendor system as it is will be completely removed from the game. Instead, there will be a new progression system tied to the character's rank (we have also increased the number of levels!). Players will advance in it by gaining experience received (mostly) at the end of the match.



Other

  • The amount of experience required to reach certain levels has been revised - now, you will reach level 100 faster than rank 90 in the current system.
  • Some vendor system items will now become available upon reaching certain ranks, while others will get completely removed as we consider them outdated.
  • Players will unlock modes and classes via the progression system as well. As soon as the user reaches a certain rank, they will get access to particular classes and modes. This is the way the system will work for new players. If you already have access to classes and modes when the new system appears, it will be preserved.
  • In addition, upon reaching certain ranks, the player will be able to choose a reward from several offered.


[h3]How will it Work?[/h3]

Levels and Prestige

It's simple - play, gain experience and progress. There will be 100 regular levels and 900 prestige levels at your disposal (1000 levels in total).

Regular levels are not reset; the amount of XP at any stage grows progressively, just the way it works in the current system. Only now there are 100 levels instead of 90.



As currently projected, it will be possible to get prestige ranks until the active battle pass season is over. After it ends, you will not be able to reach new prestige levels until a new battle pass begins. For example, the next battle pass season will last approximately 60 days once the update is installed, meaning that you will have the same number of days to unlock all prestige ranks (assuming that the mechanics are live without changes).

We will probably be resetting prestige progress before the start of each new season. We also consider having different prestige rewards each season to give you more incentive to level up.

Please note that the information is preliminary as we are still tweaking the progression system and it is subject to change per general testing results.

Rank Icons

At each level of the regular progression, you will see a new icon next to your nickname. It will show everyone your progress. As for prestige levels, there will be 5 icons with a digit indicating the current level.

Rewards for Ranks

Almost all rewards unlocked in the progression are received automatically - access is immediately granted, while items are sent to your Inventory. Rewards that can be chosen require confirmation in a dialogue window. It will pop up after you reach a level (or after a match, if the level is obtained in battle). You can't close it and choose later. If you start the next match or force the game to close, the window with rewards to choose from will appear again after the match or after logging into the game, respectively.



Check out the button below for the list of rank rewards. It is not final and can be subject to change. Please bear in mind that this is a preliminary version, which will be fine-tuned based on the testing results.

Rank Rewards

[h3]What will happen to my current level?[/h3]

After logging into the game for the first time, the client will process your progress, and you will receive all the rewards according to your current experience level.

For example:

  • if you had rank 20, in the new system, it will be saved - you will start from level 20;
  • if you had the maximum (90th) rank, it will be saved in the new system. Upon its implementation, you will not get a higher rank, regardless of how much "extra" experience you have managed to accumulate. You will have to level up to the maximum level (100) and unlock prestige levels.


If you previously got items distributed via the vendor system, they will be conserved and will be marked as received. No articles will be removed from your Inventory. New rewards will be added automatically, and you will get an opportunity to select items with an option to choose from.

[h3]Matchmaking[/h3]

Now, there are 2 types of channels that users join depending on their level - common (1st-20th), and professional (21st-90th). Players are matched within these channels; for example, if you play among professionals, you can't be matched with a rookie. You can't intentionally join players who are on the other channel. In general, the system will continue to work the same way (with minor internal improvements), but the channel boundaries may change slightly by the time of the feature release. We'll describe these changes later if we decide to bring them into the game.

We have slightly changed the logic of expanding the search by level within a specific range: you will not be able to play against players from the other channel; however, within your range, the search can gradually expand if there are not enough players of the similar level. You can't clearly notice these changes, but we expect matchmaking to become fairer.

If the search for a match is too long, the matchmaking boundary will gradually expand. This will happen smoothly. Situations when experienced players dominate over beginners will be minimized.

In addition, when distributing players into groups, their skills will also be taken into account based on the K/D ratio.

Thanks to these changes, player matchmaking at the very beginning of the room search will improve - fighters will be more equal in terms of their level, skill, and other indicators. And if the room search is too long, special mechanisms will smoothly expand the selection of players suitable for the match.

All the described changes in matchmaking will not completely replace the current system, but will only supplement the already existing one with new parameters.
