Your feedback will come to life in the Early Access version of Inkborn!

Hello, roguelike deckbuilders enthusiasts!

At the very beginning of this announcement, we would like to sincerely thank once more all of you who have checked out the Inkborn Combat Demo so far and shared your feedback on the gameplay experience with us. We are very grateful to you for this action, as your feedback will help us make our game that much better!

We took a very careful look at the feedback you received, not only via social media channels or the Inkborn Discord server but also the one you sent to us directly from the demo version itself.

You have shared with us a lot of hints on the mechanics and features implemented in Inkborn. There are still a few things we need to improve, but with your support, we will succeed! πŸ’ͺ🏼

You’ve asked us about various aspects of the game, like the volume of the music in the demo, the visibility of Ideas, the ability to skip cards when adding them to the deck, and similarities to Slay the Spire. Our dev team has reviewed all these points: some fixes have already been implemented, while others are awaiting integration in the Early Access version. But that’s not all!

Some of you reached out to us directly from the demo’s menu with feedback about the dodge mechanism, suggestions for improvements (such as β€œHighlight or bold text in the Book of Thoughts” or β€œWhen choosing a quote, it would be nice if you could hover over the bonus as well to pick it, not just the slots”), and clear, detailed bug reports. We truly appreciate it!

And, of course, you didn’t stop there! ❀️

While we are thankful for your feedback and suggestions, we want to clarify that we won't update the game's demo version. Instead, we're focusing on refining the Early Access to ensure the best possible experience for everyone. However, we would like to respond to the messages we received, so here's a structured response for better clarity:

  • We will introduce additional healing options; its absence is a characteristic of the demo.
  • We are considering various accessibility and quality-of-life (QoL) improvements in further development.
  • We are working on improving the UI for quotes.
  • We recognize that animations need fine-tuning, so we plan to synchronize attack animations with sound effects.
  • We’ll review the balance of Inkbreath’s move.
  • We monitor and optimize combo balance and overall game balance.
  • We make game elements more self-evident (e.g., damage numbers and descriptions).
  • We are evaluating the design of certain characters, and some may undergo significant changes.

Furthermore, we’d like to reveal, especially for everyone who gave us feedback, some additional exciting plans:

  • We plan to introduce new combos and cards in the future.
  • We will add a lot more sound effects.
  • In the Early Access version, beyond the combat mechanics you’ve already experienced, you can expect city upgrades, a skill tree, exploration mechanics, and a chronicle system.
  • We will take a closer look at the text field.

In our humble opinion, it’s worth the wait ;)

And that would be it! We catalog and collect your feedback in one place, and our dev team constantly improves the game and works on its improvements to the Early Access version. Of course, remember to add Inkborn to your wishlist, follow our social media channels, and leave your thoughts. Your feedback is a valuable motivation for us to continue working on Inkborn!
