Sneak Peek at Act 3!

Hello Inkborns! ✒️ As many of you know, Act 3 is in the works, and today we're ready to give you a little glimpse of what you can expect when you reach it. You’ve fought on the ground and ventured deep underground - now it’s time to rise above it all. ☁️ Get ready to travel to a fractured, mist-covered arena with floating islands, where we're setting the stage for tense encounters. 🌫️



One of the new enemies you’ll face here is the Apparition.
This ghostly foe has a new ability: “Transcendental: Reduces all received damage to 0.”.
Figuring out how to deal with it will take clever deckbuilding and precise strategy. Can you discover the best way to defeat something that refuses to take a hit? 👻



While we wait for the release of Act 3, we’ll be adding an update to the Book of Thoughts, introducing new metaprogression elements to help you prepare for the challenges ahead. And one last thing, we’ve been thinking about adding harder achievements to Inkborn, aimed at the most persistent and determined players. 🏆 For example, an achievement like “Defeat the first Boss using only the starting deck”.

Roadmap progress, upcoming features, and a small Hotfix!

Greetings, adventurers of Inkborn! ✨ It’s been an exciting week for us and the community as we officially began bringing our Roadmap to life. Over the past days, many of you have already been exploring two new features that make your runs more personalized and replayable: Difficulty Levels and Player Profiles. 🗡️

These additions are just the first step in shaping Inkborn into the deep and dynamic roguelike we’ve envisioned. If you haven’t had a chance to try them yet, now’s the perfect time to jump back in! [h3]Expanded Book of Thoughts 📖[/h3]
We’re transforming the Book of Thoughts into a living Bestiary, a place where you’ll not only find enemy details, their weak points and story connections, but also Metaprogression to reward your discoveries.
  • Study and eliminate more enemies to improve your Ideas, giving you more tools to tackle future runs.
  • Piece together the history of the world as you build out the Book’s pages.


[h3]Act 3 - a new chapter 👻[/h3]
At the same time, development is moving forward on Act 3, which will bring a new location and new enemy types, further expanding the content and variety of the game. More details are to come! 🙂


[h3]Hotfix notes 🐛[/h3]
We’ve also pushed a small hotfix with a couple of fixes:
  • Fixed localization for Unyielding and Ancient Quill.
  • Additional cards and potions are now added immediately when upgrading the Shop building.

🗡️ Difficulty Levels & Profiles are coming to Inkborn!

Hello everyone! 👋

We’ve just finished preparing the next update for Inkborn, and this one’s special: it features the first two items from our recently published Early Access roadmap! 🗺️ We’ll keep rolling out more stuff in future updates, step by step, so that every player can enjoy Inkborn in their favorite way. 💪

[h3] 👥 Player Profiles and the Beta Profile [/h3]
  • Player Profiles let you track your progress and manage multiple metaprogression profiles in a single copy of the game.
  • Beta Profile gives us a way to share some future content with you earlier than planned. In this case: Difficulty Levels.

Normally, Difficulty Levels would have launched together with Act III, but we’ve seen how much you’re asking for more playtime, so we’ve decided to bring them in sooner. The reason they live in the Beta Profile for now is simple: Difficulty Levels grant extra Soulink, and that speeds up your City progression. If we added them directly into the main profile before Act III, it would curve the intended pacing once Act III drops. 🧭



👉 So for now, if you want to try out Difficulty Levels, just switch to Beta Profile. Once Act III is ready, we’ll unlock them for your regular Player Profiles.

[h3]🎚️ Difficulty Levels: choose your challenge[/h3]
After you complete the game for the first time, your next run will give you the option to choose Difficulty modifiers, which crank up the tension and let you tailor how tough each adventure feels. Each completed Level rewards you with 1 Soulink, a powerful resource to expand your City even more. 🏙️
  • Typesetter up to 3rd level.
  • Shop up to 3rd level.
  • Barracks up to 3rd level.
  • Library up to 4th level.

There are 10 brand-new Soulinks up for grabs - and yes, you can attempt a run with all modifiers active to collect them all in one go. But fair warning: this is the kind of run that legends are made of… and also the kind that ends with you questioning all your life choices while yelling. 😀



Here’s the list of modifiers you’ll be able to toggle in this update:
  • All enemies have 20% more maximum health.
  • All enemies deal 20% more damage.
  • All enemies start fights with random buffs.
  • You have 2 Idea slots less.
  • 5 additional Chronicle points for entering map nodes.
  • Whenever you enter the map node, you lose 5 gold.
  • Camps can't restore health.
  • Camps can't remove cards.
  • All prices are increased by 25%.
  • After fights you get 1 less card to choose from.

Difficulty Levels mark the first step on our Roadmap, and we'll keep adding more ways to play in the patches ahead. What quotes should power the Curse mechanic?

👁️ Hey folks, we’re cooking up something grim for the Curses in the game, and we’d love your help to make them even more sinister. We’re looking for dark, famous quotes (from books, poems, plays, etc.) that are in the public domain. The kind of lines that feel like a curse whispered into your ear. Think old, eerie lines that send shivers down the spine. A few things to keep in mind:
  • When sharing citations, please also include the original author’s name and the title of the work.
  • If the quote isn’t originally in English, please drop the original text too, along with the translator’s name.
  • Bonus points if it’s something that really feels like it belongs on a cursed relic or whispered by shadows.

💀 And yes… these quotes aren’t just for flavor. They’ll make your gameplay more challenging. Because why should Curses ever be fair? 😈

📜 Inkborn Early Access Roadmap - what’s next?

Inkborns, your journey through our game is just beginning! In what’s to come, you can expect two major milestones:

⚔️ Firstly, expect Difficulty Levels: Whether you want a more relaxed run or a brutal test of your deckbuilding skills, new difficulty options will let you tailor the challenge to your taste. Expect Soulink as reward and bragging rights for braving the harder settings.

🌌 Then, heading straight for the 3rd Act: A whole new chapter awaits - a fresh environment filled with never-before-seen enemies, treacherous paths, and a climactic finale to push your strategies to the limit.
