We're super excited to announce that Inkborn will be open to everyone for a limited-time Playtest on Steam! From July 19th to July 20th, you can jump into the game, explore its unique Glyph-based combos system, and help shape the future of the project before it enters Early Access. 🃏

Hey folks, after gathering your feedback from the Beta and spending time analyzing what’s working (and what still needs polish), we’ve made the call to postpone the Inkborn’s Early Access release to late July 2025. 🗓️

We know delays can be disappointing, but we want to make sure that what you’ll play on day one already feels meaningful, exciting, and worth your time. Early Access is just the beginning, but that start should be as strong as possible. 🃏

Bug fixes, balance tweaks, quality-of-life improvements - and yes, the Kind Faerie has her wings again. 🧚

Thanks for playing and testing Inkborn! This patch focuses on improving stability, fixing soft locks, and making the overall gameplay experience smoother and more readable.

[Feature] The Kind Faerie has wings again!
[Feature] Added background music to the Main Menu.
[QoL] Dialogue scroll speed has been increased.
[QoL] It's now easier to visually distinguish Common vs. Rare Ideas.
[QoL] Adjusted the positioning of HUD tooltips for better visibility.
[Fix] Random encounters now properly randomize as intended.
[Fix] Added missing localization to Evergrowing Roots’ attacks.
[Fix] Loading a save will now correctly restore the previous combat state.
[Fix] The summary screen now displays the defeated boss, if applicable.
[Fix] Added a missing icon for the illumination status.
[Fix] Rare cards now truly live up to their name and have a lower drop rate.
[Fix] Dragon’s intent has been moved lower on the screen.
[Fix] The Draw Pile button is now disabled outside of combat.
[Fix] Enemies that summon reinforcements should no longer cause battle positioning issues.
[Fix] Fixed a soft lock in the “Cartographer” event.
[Fix] Fixed a soft lock caused by Mary Shelley’s torso quote.
[Fix] The Destiny-Pointing Signpost now correctly doubles the reward only once.
[Fix] Curse cards can no longer be upgraded.
[Fix] Shop cards now show tooltips correctly and no longer appear as upgraded.
[Fix] The Mantis enemy now only consumes other Mantises (no more snack time across species).

✨ If you requested access through Steam Playtest, please make sure to check your Steam library or the game’s store page to see if access has been granted there, as some testers were selected via Steam. And don’t forget to join our Discord server for all the details - Acram Staff will also grant you a special role with access to exclusive channels where you can report bugs, share feedback, and chat directly with us along with a game key. 🙂
