Payday rival Crime Boss Rockay City gets a new heist, axes an annoying feature

Crime Boss Rockay City may have launched to a mixed reception back in 2023, to put it kindly, but it's since received a number of substantial updates to address issues like poor stealth, awful enemy AI, and a boring progression system. It's really turned its Rockay reputation around (sorry). And now, the Payday-like shooter's most recent update removes the annoying quick join feature and adds a brand new heist, more AI bot improvements, a handy in-game heisting guide, and lots of bug fixes and improvements.

[p]Changed the appearance of Baker’s +50% mission reward bonus when he’s selected in the lobby. [/p]

[p]Touchdown now carries a tactical knife instead of the basic knife on higher army tiers. [/p]

[p]The mission to lower the enemy army tier on their final turf should no longer be offered when their army tier cannot be lowered anymore. [/p]

[p]The stash defense random event should no longer trigger if there are no other hostile gangs. [/p]

[p]Defend Business Partner in the random event can now also award the “King of the Hill” achievement. [/p]

[p]Hostile gangs weren’t sometimes considered hostile if they didn’t attack players’ turf for a while. [/p]

[p]The police ambush random event should now properly apply the reward of negating heat for a day. [/p]

[p]The message about an eliminated soldier in the turf war is now displayed properly. [/p]

[p]A random event mentioned a killed character when, in fact, no character was killed. [/p]

We’re coming up on one year since Crime Boss: Rockay City launched on Steam! We’re taking a look back at the day our heisting shoot-’em-up hit the biggest gaming platform in the world—and how far we’ve come since then.[/p][p][/p][p]On June 18th, 2024, Crime Boss released on Steam alongside a major update and our second expansion: Cagnali’s Order. For such a pivotal moment in the game’s journey, we had to go big or go home. This DLC introduced a new faction, story content, a new Boss appearance—Buddy the Bot—and much more.[/p][p]As our player base grew, so did the scope of our game. Our roadmap may have seemed small at first, but the content we delivered in 2024 took major effort from a small studio like ours. And 2025? It was only going to get bigger and better.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Since then, Crime Boss has gone through multiple updates, adding a wide array of new content: characters, missions, cosmetics, weapons, equipment, and game modes.

⚔️ New Weapons

Vintovka EB – Features increased damage compared to the base Vintovka, plus a massive 76-round drum mag that lets you mow down enemies without stopping to reload.
DE 44 RB – Same 9-round magazine as the DE 44 and DE 44 Elite, but with a serious bump in damage, RPM, range, and accuracy — all topped off with flashy gold plating.
MIC-ON – Hielo’s personal spin on brass knuckles. Fight back the fans and look good doing it.
Poison Grenade – Releases a toxic cloud that slows, and damages enemies caught in its plume.

⚡New Perks

Dodge – Grants a small chance to ignore incoming damage. At Tier III, if triggered, it grants 5 seconds of invincibility (once every 20 seconds).
Fire Frenzy – Boosts fire rate, magazine size, and total ammo capacity. Pair it with Hielo’s Vintovka and you’ll be holding the trigger all the way to the getaway van.
Psychopath – The more blood you spill, the deadlier you get. Simple as that.
