Forest Heroes Roadmap Update

Hello, this is Hoochoo Game Studios.

Today, we would like to share updates on the progress and revisions of the roadmap we shared during the Early Access launch.

[h3]Updated Roadmap[/h3]



First, the planned four new battle themes have been fully implemented, and the Oak Tree stage has been revamped with new enemies.

Additionally, although not originally planned, we have introduced an update adding over 40 new artifacts.

Instead of focusing on keybinding, we have decided that adding new content would be more beneficial for improving the experience and gathering feedback. As a result, the new unit additions originally planned for April will be moved up and included in the next patch.

Look forward to meeting new animal friends in Forest Noctful!

*The Cobra has taken the purple color, and the existing Tentacle Snake’s color has been changed.

Stage 2 & 4 Theme: Vines

The vine theme has been added to stages 2 and 4.
This theme introduces various obstacles, such as pulling in ranged allies and preventing players from using cards.



Changes
- The Safari Hat will no longer appear when you have a Machete.
- The first 3 cards from the Frozen Clown Mushroom will no longer include cards that cost HP.

[h3]40+ New Artifacts Added[/h3]

Based on the feedback we’ve received since the early access launch, we’ve decided to add a large number of artifacts. These additions aim to improve the following aspects of the game:
  • Provide a wider range of victory plans and playstyles
  • Offer more ways for your team to grow stronger
  • Enhance the utilization of existing keywords (poison, bleed, stealth, etc.)

This large-scale addition was a challenging choice for both development and balancing, but we’re delighted to bring you a much richer experience. We have adjusted it so that an artifact is unlocked every time a curse is cleared.

[h3]Final Boss "The Oak" Reworked[/h3]
The Oak was intended to be the ultimate challenge in early access, but its current skill set and unit usage up to stage 7 made it less threatening. We’ve reworked its skills and associated units to make the stage much more challenging and enjoyable.

[h3]System Changes[/h3]
  • Fixed damage indicators have been added to some skills. Fixed damage ignores fortitude and evasion and is applied directly to the enemy.
  • Some artifacts will no longer appear at stages that are too high or too low.


[h3]Ally Changes[/h3]
  • The charm duration of “Lurer Peacock” has been reduced.


[h3]Artifact Changes[/h3]
  • The effect of the artifact “Gold Flag” has been changed.
  • The effect of the artifact “Delicious Cheese” has been changed.
  • The artifact “Sandbag” now deals damage equal to the attack power of the “Stormer Mole.”
  • The artifact “Snail Shell” has been changed from a boss artifact to a rare artifact.
  • The effect of the artifact “Bubbles” has been changed.
  • The mana gained from the artifact “Flute” has been reduced.
  • The effect of the artifact “Chestplate” has been changed.


[h3]Skill Changes[/h3]
  • The cost of “Pale Follower” has been reduced.
  • The health consumed and increased by “Infusion” has been reduced.
  • The mechanics of the card “Buffer” have been reworked.
  • The range increase provided by “Standstill” has been improved.
  • “Rage” now deals fixed damage, and its additional scaling has been removed.
  • The effect of “Wind Blast” has been changed.
  • The cost of “Violent Shadow” has been reduced.
  • The cost of “Trap of the Dead” has been reduced.
  • “Trap of the Dead” and “Curse of the Dead” now affect areas.
  • The mana provided by “Unearth” has been increased, and it now has an exhaust effect.
  • “Desperate Charge” now deals fixed damage, but its damage has been reduced.
  • The attack power increase from “Last Stand” has been reduced.


[h3]Bug Fixes[/h3]
  • Fixed an issue where the exclusive artifact “Spoon” for the “Brave Baby Pig” was applied multiple times when continuing a game.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Plant a Mine” skill created Fungus Mines that could remain on the field indefinitely.
  • Fixed overlapping death triggers
  • Fixed an issue where the artifact “Shovel” did not work properly.
  • Multiple issues related to ally group HP bars have been resolved.
  • Option save files are now excluded from Cloud Save.
  • Fixed an issue where the game could not be launched if the save file was corrupted.

0.2.0.6 Hotfix

The bug that oak boss is able to give stun with no time limit upon awakening has been corrected.

A bug has been corrected in which saving the curse level may not have been successful.

The bug that the poison damage display UI was displayed more than the actual amount in the HP bar has been corrected.

    A new stage themed around chestnuts and Spikess.


[h2]🔧 Keyword Adjustments & New Keyword: Bleed 🔧[/h2]

  • 🧪 Poison
    Poison is a powerful theme that focuses on stacking damage but was too strong against melee allies due to its indiscriminate area attacks. The poison mechanic has been adjusted to maintain its delayed AoE fixed damage while reducing the damage dealt to large allies.

  • 🕵️‍♂️ Stealth
    Previously, stealth only prevented targeting but did not protect against area attacks. Now, stealth ignores all types of attacks (including their effects). As a unique player effect, we hope players will utilize it in creative ways.



  • 🩸 Bleed
    The new status effect Bleed was added alongside the Chestnut stage. Enemies with Bleed take fixed damage with every attack. Additional skills and artifacts related to Bleed are under development.


[h2]🎯 Difficulty Adjustments 🎯[/h2]

  • During early access, we received many feedback points regarding difficulty. We are adjusting difficulty to create an enjoyable experience.
  • Current focus points:
    • To address the variance in experience due to component appearances (artifacts, allies, skills), we adjusted appearance rates based on stage progression. Additionally, we are considering adding more fun relics at the common and uncommon levels seen early in the game.
    • While making the curse lvl 0 more accessible to new players, we aim to keep high lvl curse challenging. Buffs for enemies in later stages will be strengthened.
  • Note that these difficulty changes are not final and will continue to improve during early access based on your feedback.

  • Node event “Yoradi’s Classroom”: prevented upgrade card duplication
  • Node event “Yoradi’s Classroom”: lowered unlock conditions
  • Adjusted projectile locations for ranged area units
  • Added missing VFX for some bosses
  • Added UI for displaying cards gained during battle

  • Ranged AoE attacks now target the enemy center

  • Ballista Tortoise relic “Lock”: fixed issue where reduced range became shorter than the base range
