Now on Apple Silicon!

No new features have been added, but it should now be working on Apple Silicon.

Special thanks to Russell for helping me get this working. It ended up being very easy, but I didn't know that beforehand. Until he got it working on his own, without even having the code! Turned out there were some minor dynamic library issues but it should be taken care of now.

As usual, let me know if you encounter any bugs. Preferably through the dedicated bug report discussion thread.

There is also a thread for feature requests. Next up is showing some love to the player client web build.

Pinned notes, ping locations, hex grids

Now you can leave notes anywhere! Only the DM sees them and they are auto-saved between sessions. Simply right-click anywhere on the DM screen to leave a note.

You can also ping a location by using that same right-click menu. It shows a little bullseye animation on both the DM and player screens. Pretty cool!

And lastly, there are now hex grids available. Not quite as robust as they could be (there are like 8 different configurations when using hex and I just stuck with the one I liked) but they do seem to be working well.

As always, let me know if you encounter any bugs and let me know if you have any feature requests.

Update 12-29-2025

Just added a toggle to hide the initiative tracker from the player screen. Some people were having an issue where they wanted to keep track of initiative, but didn't want their players to see off screen enemies listed there.

I actually forgot that there was already a solution to this problem: SET THE INITIATIVE OF THE NPC'S YOU WANT TO HIDE TO ZERO!

That is actually a better solution, so I probably should not have bothered adding this toggle to the settings. Oh well, it is there now so I won't be taking it out. Doesn't clutter up the UI and maybe someone will find a use for it.

I also made a new tool so that you can use Arkenforge with a touchscreen much better. Kind of strange as Arkenforge is a "competing" VTT. But I just want to sell hardware. So making sure my new touchscreens (which are awesome by the way - check out my website) work well with other products is important.

Update Notes 12-24-2025

Added a minor new feature: now when a token is selected in the initiative tracker, a series of concentric circles appear. They measure 2, 4, and 6 grid units which corresponds to 10, 20, and 30 feet.

This should make measuring quite a bit easier on everyone. As well as quickly showing the active player how far they can move.

I did not extend it to the dash (double) range as that is a 60 foot radius, or a 24 inch diameter circle in real world space. On most displays, that will eat up the entire board!

Reminder: to bring up the initiative tracker, press "i" on the keyboard from the DM screen or use the button on the token menu

Also fixed a minor bug where font was showing through fog of war on player screen for tokens.

Fixed Token Blurriness, Added "Visibility" Toggle

It's been the #1 bug report for a while, but token blurriness is no more! I was going about it the wrong way and put off fixing the code. But it is done, and tokens should be getting rendered at up to 256 ppi!

Better yet, there shouldn't be any performance penalty! It might slightly improve performance even though all tokens are being rendered twice.

Most displays are much lower than 256 ppi (mine is a measly 56) and if you do happen to have a super high resolution display, at least the tokens will be about 4 times crisper than before. Hopefully that is enough :)

This change made it trivial to add another feature: a "Visibility" toggle for individual tokens. To access it, simply right-click on any token from within the DM screen. Toggling it on/off makes the token visible/invisible on the player screen.

It will only appear for NPC tokens. I could not think of a compelling reason why player tokens, which have accompanying torches, would ever need to hide just the token. The torch would still be lit unless I automatically also hid the torch.

To avoid all that confusion and not clutter up the UI, it is assumed player tokens are always visible. As a workaround, if you really need player tokens to be invisible for a period of time, you will need to convert them to an NPC token (right-click menu), hide them, then swap back when you want them to reappear.

Not working correctly with the web build, that thing needs a lot of work and will likely be the next big update.

Happy holidays everyone! As usual, let me know if anything breaks or if you have any feature requests. Thanks!
