Cheesevlog #2 - Eggdaddy

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hello Cheese Slices!
Did you miss us?

Once again, we come to you with a new cheesevlog, made by the creator of Bad Cheese, Simon Lukasik. Today, let's talk about the Eggdaddy.
In the game Simon's making, Bad Cheese, the protagonist can meet his dad in various incarnations (see previous cheesevlog). Today we'll talk about another daddy character, Eggdaddy, who was inspired by the 1933 film “Alice in Wonderland”.

At some point in the game, the player accidentally wakes up Daddy and he starts patrolling the bathroom looking for the source of the noise. His body takes the form of an egg, which rolls around patrolling the tiled corridors. Here you can see the first sketches of what Daddy Egg looked like.

If Daddy sees the player, he starts shooting with egg goo. If we get hit, our movement will be greatly slowed, but we still have a chance to free ourselves. Unfortunately, if Daddy is faster, we will die, pecked by the scary chick that is inside the egg.

The horror is increased by the egg waste hanging everywhere and the screaming egg faces. In this sequence, we will succeed if the mouse is not caught and we manage to get to the toilet.

Finally, Gary and Simon would like to thank you very much for your support and also show you the special button they received. Want to see it? Watch the devlog!

Thanks for joining us and don't forget to wishlist the game!

Cheesevlog #1 - Daddy the Longneck

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Hello Cheese Slices!
Cheesed to meet you again - this time, in our first official devlog cheesevlog!

Join the creator of Bad Cheese, Simon Lukasik (and his trusty companion, Gary) to learn more about the game making process!
You may have never heard of it, but Bad Cheese is a psychological horror seen from the perspective of a seven-year-old mouse suffering from compulsive eating disorder.

The child's perception is disturbed by high levels of fear, which intensifies during the game. This causes the kid to see his daddy changing his physical appearance depending on where we are in the story.
The version Simon talks about in his video is called Daddy the Longneck.

Here is one of the first concept sketches of Daddy, in a sketchbook Simon usually carries with him. This is what the first pencil drawing looked like, and the next image is what it looked like when made in Photoshop.

If you're wondering how the creature was made, it consists of sprites, i.e. flat objects that turn towards the camera, and a cable that is responsible for the neck. Everything is put together in Unreal Engine 5 with the help of Krystian, who supports Simon on this fromage adventure.

When you walk around the character, the drawings change to versions from the front, side or back according to the image that you can see here.

Without further ado, let's see how it all looks together when we place it in the game and apply some cheddary filters that remind us of the 1920s. We walk around the level a bit here...

Fancy! It is worth adding that when we look at various elements of the environment or have a jumpscare, we see the creatures in a much more realistic and disgusting version, which can stimulate our imagination. Yes, Simon was inspired here by a certain cartoon about a cheerful chef.

We hope you liked the video and the cheesevlog, and we remind you that you can already add Bad Cheese to your wishlist on Steam. 🧀
