WAR RATS: The Rat em Up News

Version 1.0.7 Patch Notes

[p]Merry Ratmas all![/p][p][/p][p]In this update, I have just added a new Head Slot Skin:[/p][p]SantyRat's Hat![/p][p][/p][p]I hope you have all been good pups this year, so you get lots of CHz in your stocking. Instead of rat poo. Although maybe some of you would like rat poo in your stockings? I won't judge. It's actually quite nice spread over a piece of rattoast. I mean what?![/p][p][/p][p]But seriously now, thanks all for playing and supporting the game (and by extension, me!) I really do appreciate it. As does my family.[/p][p][/p][p]And I will just say as always: please leave a positive Steam review if you've been enjoying the game! It really does help. [/p][p][/p][p]I wish you all the best and hope you all have a happy holiday season, whether you celebrate Ratmas or some other holiday. Like Catmas or something. I dunno.[/p][p][/p][p]Regards,[/p][p] Brian[/p]

Version 1.0.6 Patch Notes

[p]Ello ello Ratto Rattos,[/p][p] Got a new patch for ya here today. Before I go on to the patch notes, I must yet again say thank you to all of you who have played, enjoyed and/or reviewed the game. I am still in awe as to the fact that so many people have not only played but also seem to like the game! And the vast majority of you who do play seem to very much like it. You guys are the best.[/p][p][/p][p]And as always: please leave a positive Steam review if you are one of those who are having a good time raging against the machine rats. It really does help![/p][p][/p][p]Ok here be the patch notes:[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with weapons possibly not carrying over to a mission after picking them up from the Weapons Locker.[/p]
  • [p]When in Horde Mode and choosing to Fall Back and collect the Horde Reward, the screen was supposed to quickly fade to black before transitioning. It wasn't doing this. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Opening a Horde Reward crate after clearing a high wave number in Horde Mode, around 30+, could result in a massive stutter of the game, to the point where it could even appear frozen (if left alone, it should have continued eventually, but the time required differed depending on system specs and could have resulted in some people understandably thinking it was frozen). This stuttering has been significantly reduced, although I wasn't able to get rid of it completely. It should no longer cause any major problems. You might notice a few paused frames right when the crate explodes depending on your hardware, but that should be it.[/p]
  • [p]The amount of CHz awarded in a Horde Reward crate has been increased. Especially in Cheasy difficulty. It's almost 3x the amount there. Ratgular saw modest gains. And Hard mode saw just a slight increase cause it's meant to be hard innit.[/p]
  • [p]The cursor should now lock to the game window unless in the pause menu or alt-tabbing. There is now a setting in the Options Menu to toggle this new behaviour on or off. It is on by default. Off is how it was before this patch.[/p]
  • [p]Changed the name of "CONTROLLER" to "CONTROLS" in the Options Menu to accommodate the placement of the new setting.[/p]
  • [p]Sweeper Rats (The little ones that mop up all the blood) now fade in and out instead of just pop in and out. Just cause I think it looks much nicer and it’s been bothering me.[/p][p][/p]
[p]And I just have to say; most of the things I've been fixing since launch have all been issues or requests that were reported by you guys, so keep it up! It helps make the game into a better experience for not just you but others as well. And I really appreciate it. As I'm sure do other players.[/p][p][/p][p]And that's all for now. I wish you good CHz upon the slaughter.[/p][p]Regards,[/p][p] Brian[/p]

Version 1.0.5 Patch Notes

[p]Hello Fellow Rats![/p][p] Thank you again for all your support, for playing, enjoying and reviewing the game. It really means the world to me and my family. And keep the feedback and bug reports coming! They really help me to fix any issues that I (and all the Early Access players/playtesters) missed. Cause I can't fix what I don't know about. Now can I?[/p][p][/p][p]And as always, please leave a positive Steam review if you are enjoying your time! It really does help.[/p][p][/p][p]On to the patch notes:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Sentry Gun max limit was not resetting if Sentry Guns were active at the time of Victory, or if returning to the nest without dying. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Sentry Guns will now remove themselves (starting with the oldest first) if more than 8 are placed. So if you place 9, the first one will disappear, if you place 10, the first 2 will disappear, and so on.[/p]
  • [p]Added “Max 8 active at a time.” to the description of the Sentry Gun in the Shop Menu.[/p]
  • [p]Updated the code for transitioning from the Victory Screen (the screen after beating a mission) to the Marching Rats cutscene back to the Nest so that it should no longer hang at any of these transition points. Please let me know if this is still an issue for you.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where the game might not let you play Level 7 (Tundrata) if you didn’t go the Omahrat Beach route.[/p]
  • [p]If you were running or jumping when the TechnoRat Base is captured, in the Base Destruction screen you would be either running on the spot or frozen in mid-jump. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]I think I figured out a major memory leak/bloat issue. Every time a unit dies I instantiate a scene that has the loot table in it to calculate all the drops. This scene was not being freed, and so over time, especially in a long play session, the game was holding hundreds and hundreds of these loot tables in memory and never freeing them. And each table has preloads for all the loot in the entire game in it. Those of you who experienced performance issues in late-game play sessions should notice a significant improvement. Please let me know if it’s still chugging for you and I will keep investigating. Thanks! :)[/p]
[p][/p][p]Thanks all! You've made this old rat feel loved by slaughtering the enemy of my ancestors. Kill em all! [/p][p][/p][p]Regards,[/p][p] Brian[/p]

Version 1.0.4 Patch Notes

[p]Hello Fellow Rats![/p][p] My most cordial of rat greetings to you on this fine rat day. My thanks flows forth to you as if it were melted cheese down a rats gullet. No but seriously, my continued thanks to you for playing my game! And I'm so glad so many of you are having fun.[/p][p][/p][p]And as always, please leave a positive Steam review if you are enjoying it! It really does help.[/p][p][/p][p]Now for the patch notes:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Added a Stick Sensitivity setting to the Options Menu. This will control the speed of your right stick if using a controller.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where if you spammed the “Jump” key while trying to skip the pre-mission cutscene it would cause the scene to re-load itself. You had to spam it like crazy to do this. So maybe stop being so spammy? Anyway, it’s now working as it should have been really.[/p]
  • [p]Sentry guns placed in the Nest would appear in the next mission. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]There is now a limit to how many Sentry Guns can be active on a map at any one time. The limit is 8. When one depletes it frees up space for another. Happy to adjust the number if people have strong feelings about it. So let me know. Note: If they are deployed in a place where they never encounter an enemy for the whole mission, they will never run out of ammo and thus never clear themselves. So keep that in mind. [/p]
  • [p]On the Main Menu screen, if using a controller and moving up with the left stick while “QUIT” was highlighted, it would skip over Credits and Feedback and go to Options. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Double Barreled Ratgun will no longer fire if just 1 round is loaded.[/p]
  • [p]Double Barreled Ratgun is now able to manually reload if stuck at 1 round in the chamber.[/p]
  • [p]You will no longer be healed by enemy fire if your Laser or Plasma Resistance is too high.[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue with the “Grindy” achievement not triggering for people who won 10 Skirmishes before achievements were added to the game. Should pop for you as soon as you load up the game after updating.[/p]
[p][/p][p]Thanks again from the bottom of my rat heart.[/p][p][/p][p]Regards,[/p][p] Brian[/p]

Version 1.0.3 Patch Notes

[p]Hello Fellow Rats![/p][p] Got some patch notes for ya here. Thank you again for supporting me and playing and enjoying my game. You're the rattiest rats that ever did rat![/p][p][/p][p]And as always, please leave a positive Steam review if you're enjoying slaughtering the TechnoRat scum. It really does help. Even a one word review counts so don't worry if you don't know what to write.[/p][p][/p][p]Here be patch notes:[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Removed “More troops coming soon during Early Access” text from the Radio. Whoops. Thought I caught them all. And I guess I just got so used to seeing that one there that it kinda became background noise. WELL IT'S GONE NOW OK?! IS THAT OK FOR YOU?[/p]
  • [p]Added an option in the Options Menu for setting the Camera Whip Speed. Which is how fast the camera will move when changing direction from right facing to left facing. 3 options: Default, Slow and Fast. In case default isn't fast enough already (yes it is)[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Fullscreen and Borderless and Vsync options in the Options Menu not saving/loading properly.[/p]
  • [p]Ratzooka would fire infinite Fat Rats if at 1 ammo in the tube. This has been fixed. (Sorry to ruin the fun :D)[/p]
  • [p]On starting a New Game in an empty Save Slot, if Basic Training was already completed, even on a different save, there should have been an option to skip the tutorial this time in the confirmation pop up. That has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]The Intro Screen now says “Full Release” instead of “1.0” cause like, it's 1.0.3 now innit. And I don't wanna change it every time. I already change it on the Start Screen and the What's New Screen. That's enough screens![/p]
  • [p]It should no longer be possible to open any of the in-game menus while another is open. For example the Ammo Dispenser and the Radio at the same time. (I say should cause rat-damn these menus have caused me problems to no end!)[/p]
  • [p]Vsync Options now are just “Enabled” or “Disabled” as it turns out the other two options are not actually supported by Compatibility mode rendering in Godot, which is what the game is running on. And they were just causing issues if players were trying them out.[/p]
  • [p]Rat Dealer’s Kiosk icon (the little flashing icon in the top right of the wave info UI panel that appears when Rat Dealer is in the level) would sometimes flash continuously even after a mission was over. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Sometimes the bodies of dead Special Rats were appearing in the Nest after a mission. As if their endless torture at your hands wasn’t enough.[/p]
  • [p]If pressing Back while the New Game confirmation pop up was up, going back into the Play menu from the start screen would show the pop up still up. This has been fixed.[/p]
  • [p]Leaving the shop is now more stable, should no longer lock the game up in an endless black screen for some.[/p]
[p][/p][p]Squeaky squeaks mlem.[/p][p][/p][p]Regards,[/p][p] Brian[/p]
