V1.34 Patch Notes (7/11/2025)

Surprise update today! This is just a big ol' bunch of bug fixes with the only real addition being a new common perk that I think you will like!

Apologies for going off schedule. I previously said that the next update you'd see would be V1.4 sometime in late summer. After the release of V1.33 (autosave update), there were some really annoying bugs that I wanted to fix before a rather long period of no updates. This build is a lot more stable than V1.33, I hope you'll enjoy the fixes I made here. As always, you can find the full list of changes below.

Bug fixes:
==========
-Fixed the bug where setting up a chain of multiple squids to transform into a "first peg popped" item would result in most of the squids in the chain having their effect skipped. (AKA the "lazy squids bug")
-Added a failsafe for save data corruption. If you've experienced a crash where the game crashes immediately once it launches, that's due to a save file being corrupted and the game trying to read the save data but failing. This isn't a solution to save corruption, but it does fix the immediate crash, thus preventing the game from becoming unplayable.
-Fixed round 900 crash in endless mode
-Fixed issue with crashing in endless after receiving a perk
-Fixed issue in endless where you could come across final bosses again.
-Warlock perk description updated
-You can no longer use the load button to access endless mode in challenges
-Pause button in upper right corner of screen now appears in endless mode
-End game button now appears when loading into an endless mode save
-Alien now appears in nubby mart (like all the other black market items) while playing as criminal tony
-Non-upgraded inflatable dolphin beach ball summon is now counted as a summon.
-House'O'Cards perk now triggers "20 pegs popped" items.
-House'O'Cards perk now triggers "12 pegs popped" items.
-House'O'Cards perk now triggers items with "x pegs popped" triggers as their second trigger while playing on mutant tony.
-Crazy straw can now be obtained while playing as C.E.O. Tony
-Dave and Lentil food effect outcomes are now affected by game seed.
-Fixed bug where if you spammed the "exit" button on the claw machine you could break it and cause the claw machine to stay on screen for the next round.
-Fixed bug where insulation would give points even if it didn't hit a peg.
-Fixed the crash caused by eating the chip item in the cafe and then grabbing another food item while the chip was being consumed.
-Fixed odds issue with flaming skull item: odds changed from 1/11 to 1/10, as was originally intended.
-Fixed the unnecessary extra gap in the item description of squid while playing as mutant tony.
-Fixed bug where 1Q+ pegs were valued at 0.
-Broken socket can now be triggered by other broken sockets.
-Broken Socket now triggers twice on glass tony


Additions:
==========
-Added common perk: "Archaic Perk" - Every 1.5 seconds -> Force-triggers all non-upgraded items.
-This perk does not appear in the "Times Up!" challenge.


Other changes:
==========
-Starting with this update, existing autosaves will be deleted when you update the game due to incompatibility in saved data.

Nubby Patch V1.32 (The Autosave Patch)

Hello! Welcome to the long awaited V1.32! I'm happy to get this out to the public so I can begin work on some really fun stuff. Either way, enjoy autosaving!

Bug fixes:

-Fixed bug where egg missiles from rubber chicken didn't collide with pegs on hunter tony

-Kebab perk and croissant perk now have their triggers randomized in bologna tony

-Fixed the peg revival glitch with cactus and uranium rod (shoutout to Seymour for the help)

-Game no longer crashes are round 467 (thanks again, Seymour)

-Fixed the bug where if you spammed the launch nubby button right at the start of the game, you'd get a 9999x restock.

-Fixed bug where you could steal corrupted items as criminal tony and end up with negative money as a result

-Asbestos insulation summons now count as summons





Additions:

-Implemented autosave system (yippee)




Other Changes:
==========

-For lunar perk: the amount of force triggers is now determined by the round number instead of how many rounds it has been in your inventory

-Warlock perk now triggers all "Nubby Dies ->" items.

-Asbestos insulation now gives 5%-10% of the round goal. Upgraded asbestos gives between 12%-17% of the round goal (sad, but we all knew this was coming)

-Broken socket now triggers on: "item to the right of me triggers"; Has a 25% chance to execute its cluster shock effect.
-Same thing for upgraded broken socket.

-Coin sound effect is less shrill

-In the in-game pause menu, "Abandon Game" button is replaced by "Save and Quit" button.

-For "Pol's Bane" challenge: T-Block, E-Block, and Flibby Flobbies are no longer obtainable.

-For "Time's Up!" challenge: Cheesy Perk is no longer obtainable.

-All-seeing pyramid item no longer appears in the early game and has the same item weight as T-Block.

-Avocado price changed from 11 to 9.
-Evil goose priced changed from 6 to 5.
-Flamethrower price changed from 9 to 7.

Weekly Nubby News #8 (6/22/2025)

This edition of WNN is going to be relatively small because there haven't been many happenings, but I still felt it was important to give some updates on some upcoming events. [/p][p][/p][p]Also, at the bottom of this post is an opportunity for you to contribute to nubby science. More on that below.

Upcoming patch: V1.3.2 (the autosave patch):[/p][p]==========[/p][p]Game autosaves have been a long time coming. I think this is the longest I've ever spent working on a single feature for Nubby. After 3 weeks of debugging, autosaves are nearing completion. I still have some issues to work out with the autosave system, but things are shaping up nicely. I have received some very generous help from a friend with this feature, so hats off to him for helping me get this out as soon as possible. [/p][p][/p][p]Autosaves are the biggest feature in this patch, but not the only change. I'm also looking to fix some bugs from V1.3.1 and make a few balance changes. Whether or not I decide to make any content additions will be dependent on how much leftover time I have before the release date, which is going to be on Sunday, June 29th. [/p][p][/p][p]I'm really looking forward to getting this hurdle behind me so I can start working on V1.4, which will enter production as soon as V1.3.2 is released. Because V1.3.2 took longer than I expected, I'm adjusting the timeframe for the release of V1.4 to August instead of the end of July. Weekly Nubby News #7 (News about V1.4)

Welcome to Weekly Nubby News #7 and happy pride month!

In this edition of WNN, I'm going to be briefly discussing my current progress and works in progress, and then setting some expectations for the next major update to nubby... V1.4!!!


Update on V1.3.2 (upcoming patch):
==========

In the development of nubby, V1.3.2 is my current focus. This is the last big patch before V1.4 and it will introduce an autosave / load system. This has proven to be a bit of an obstacle because it involves reworking a lot of code to make this system fit. However, I'm looking forward to finishing this addition because it's a big quality of life improvement. It's a bit difficult to give an exact time estimate on when this will be finished, but I'm hoping to have this patch released around June 12th. That is tentative and subject to change because technical difficulties are likely.

Regardless, it will be nice to be able to start up a game of nubby, save your game, then load back into it the next day when you're bored. Cheers to progress!




Update on nubby mobile:
==========

For those curious about the progress of the mobile port for NNF - things are still trucking along and progress is being made. It isn't near completion yet, but I'm feeling confident about our work pacing and I'm very excited to share this with you all. One day you can bring nubby along with you in your pocket! Pocket nubby!




Discussing V1.4:
==========

Now for the exciting news on V1.4!

I've talked a bit about V1.4 in previous editions of WNN, but I was leaving things vague and my time estimates were quite off. This is going to be a big update and add a lot of things. Before I talk about a release date for V1.4, I want to discuss what you can look forward to!

In V1.4 you can expect:
---
-A cosmetics menu with unlockable nubby skins and peg skins, most cosmetic nubby skins were made by the community way back in the demo days! This menu will be accessible through the title screen. The cosmetics menu will be managed by a very fashionable new character, "Lady La Mode"! (See gif below)

-A "warehouse" menu that is akin to a "bestiary" or encyclopedia of sorts. This menu will display info about items/perks/mechanics and talk about the lore of the number factory (items, characters, nubby, etc.), just for fun! The warehouse will be accessible through the title screen and also introduce a new character, "Sparkplug"! (again, see gif below).

-An ultimate challenge mode (haven't come up with a name yet) that can be accessed after beating all challenges. This game mode will have 10 levels of increasing difficulty. New content will be added in each level that makes the game more difficult. Completing this game mode will be a tough challenge and require an understanding of the game's mechanics to succeed.

-Steam achievements will be added. I'm hoping to add around 12-15 achievements.

-1 new supervisor, "Dwarf Tony". (from the winner of supervisor design contest in march(?)).

-Probably a couple new items and perks.

As for a release date on V1.4, I want to have this done sometime in July. I'm not going to give a specific date for this because it's a lot of new content and its hard to give an estimate when I'm working at this scale.

After V1.4 is released, localization efforts will begin and hopefully many languages will be implemented in the following weeks, credits to the wonderful people who have volunteered to make that possible. To those who will be helping with localization, thank you for your patience.

In the weeks leading up to V1.4, I will continue to make WNN posts and share my progress on V1.4.

Hotfix V1.3.1.5 Patch Notes (5/26/2025)

V1.3.1.5 Hotfix Notes:
==========

Welcome to V1.3.1.5! This is a surprise patch that I wanted to sneak into the current update schedule. The goal of this patch is mainly to fix bugs.

The next patch will implement autosaves. That will be the last patch before V1.4 (which is going to be a big update that adds a lot of stuff.)


Bug fixes:
==========
-Abolished max restock tax
-The croissant perk now actually does what the description says.
-Fixed crashes with minds eye on amnesiac challenge
-Fixed bug where playing as glass tony and then playing as another supervisor would set lives to 2
at the start of the game.
-Fixed more technical issues with force-ending the round.
-Fixed item drag and drop sound fx
-Fixed charity perk and drainer perk crash when googol is reached.
-Actually fixed the squid duping bug this time.
-Added closed and half-open animation frames to the mind's eye toggle button (purely cosmetic)

Additions:
==========
-Added "Moldy Sandwich" item (common, food).
-This item is exclusive to balogna tony.

Balance Changes:
==========
-Completely changed the effect of asbestos (it summons insulation now)
-Buffed alien (changed trigger to "2 pegs doubled ->")
