Customer Update

[p]Hello chefs![/p][p][/p][p]This week's update is all about the CUSTOMERS! We've added 14 new customer portraits: 3 brand new customers and 11 existing customers got a makeover, so every customer now has a unique portrait.[/p][p][/p][p]4 of these customers were voted for in the latest Discord poll. Which one are you most excited to see?[/p][p][/p][p]A couple of these customers have the new Bully trait which means they snatch a dollar from you every time you take an ingredient with a specific tag.[/p][p][/p][p]Additionally, the customers will line up and hold their plates during Principal Clucker's omelet inspection.[/p][p][/p][p]But this update isn't just about the customers in the game, it's also about the customers of the game! We've added 2 of the most highly requested features: mid-run saves and an info tab in the catalogue.[/p][p][/p][p]Your current run is now saved at the start of each round and the start of each shop. So when you've got a long endless run and it's time for bed you can feel free to exit and continue some other time![/p][p][/p][p]Thank you to the chefs in our Discord who helped playtest the beta branch! It's likely we might've missed some bugs or exploits so if you notice anything weird please let us know via the in-game form, the Steam forums, or on Discord.[/p][p][/p][p]We've added a 4th tab in the Catalogue that shows tips for each of the major mechanics in the game. This should be a helpful reference if you can't quite remember the initial popups or want a slightly more in depth explanation.   • [p]Adding pulsing color when you have a locked apron selected (so you know why it's locked)[/p]
  • [p]Game is playable on controller (not recommended but works similarly to Steam Deck)[/p]

  • [p]Haunted Trait: each ghosts takes 4 seconds longer than the previous ghost to spawn[/p]
    • [p]This should help make things more manageable in endless runs[/p]
  • [p]Ascetic Trait: won't appear on first round[/p]
  • [p]Vegetarian and Carnivore Traits: won't appear in first 2 rounds[/p]
  • [p]All customers are available in any given run [/p]
    • [p]previously there were 4 customers that only appeared as boss Teachers on Green Apron[/p]
  • [p]Ribs are now Sticky[/p]
  • [p]BBQ makes Meat ingredients Sticky[/p]
  • [p]Honey Glazer makes Vegetable ingredients Sticky (instead of Meats)[/p]

    • [p]Added "+0.2x to each Seafood per Veggie touching"[/p]

    • [p]Added "+0.2x to each Dairy per Fruit touching"[/p]

    • [p]This helper was insanely overpowered with some chefs reaching +80 to every ingredient if they earned enough money. We try to avoid nerfing but something had to be done. This is my attempt at allowing it to scale without letting chefs endlessly hire + fire in a single shop[/p]

Thanskgiving Update

[p]Happy Thanksgiving, chefs![/p][p][/p][p]For today's patch notes I'm gonna start with the thing that all great online recipes do where I share a personal story. If you wanna skip ahead to content, feel free to scroll past.[/p][hr][/hr][p]Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Every year my sister (who came up with the name for Omelet You Cook) hosts Thanksgiving at her wonderful home (filled with dogs like Sunny and Brother btw!). She started it in her college days for people who didn't have nice family homes to return to, and it's continued on for over a decade now. After moving away from the US it's the only holiday I truly miss.[/p][p][/p][p]Part of what makes it so special for me is a little tradition where we go around the dinner table and everyone shares what they're thankful for. It's very cheesy and sappy and vulnerable and I love it. Since I'm not home for Thanksgiving I wanted to take a moment here to say how grateful I am for everything and everyone that's lead to the success of Omelet You Cook.[/p][p][/p][p]I'm grateful for my sister, my parents, my brother, and my friends who've supported and encouraged and believed in me for all the years I was making things before there was proof I could do this for a living. I'm grateful for all my game dev friends at Spelkollektivet, Stugan, and Ludokultur who've helped immensely by sharing their game dev journeys with me. I'm grateful for Hjalte who's the best bidness partner I could've asked for, and for Mareike, Nico, and Gus who've made incredible contributions to the game.[/p][p][/p][p]I'm grateful to Wholesome Games for featuring us, to NorthernLion and all the other streamers who showed the game to their audiences, and to all the game studios who've bundled with us. I'm extremely grateful to all 12,000+ chefs who've bought the game, to the 530+ who took the time to leave a review, and the 1,100+ chefs in our Discord![/p][p][/p][p]Every step of developing Omelet You Cook has surpassed my expectations. That's partly due to luck, partly due to our hard work, and mostly because of all you chefs who've supported us, reported bugs, recommended the game to friends, and helped make Early Access so fun. Y'all are far too kind and we appreciate you [/p][p][/p][p]Plus 3 new big-number-enabling Legendary helpers (and Hjalte absolutely cooked on the art for these).[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]We also finally got around to overhauling our menus, including a new Pause Menu.[/p][p][/p][p]And we finally added some proper art to the Settings Menu, as well as refining the existing settings.   • [p]Rock Salt is now Raw[/p]
    • [p]All of the above were previously Processed, which is heavily overrepresented compared to Raw/Baked. This helps bring them closer in line with 38 Raw, 33 Baked, and 49 Processed. Future updates will continue to bring these more in balance[/p]
  • [p]Cloning Vat is now Rare instead of Legendary[/p]
    • [p]Going forward we want Legendary helpers to be your primary source of scaling. Cloning Vat doesn't directly let you scale and is also fun + enables cool builds so we want it to be more available[/p]
  • [p]Chocolate Cake now gives -1 per Vegetable on omelet[/p]
    • [p]This is an attempt to add a little nuance and identity to Cakes/Pies[/p]

  • [p]Turned off the parallax camera effect in the shop[/p]
  • [p]Weekly Run now shows an indicator if you haven't attempted it at least once[/p]
  • [p]Weekly Run now stays selected if it was your last played run[/p]

[p][/p][p]For chefs that read this far I also wanna mention that mid-run saving is on the way! I'm expecting to have it fully implemented by the end of the year. In the coming weeks I plan to open up a beta in our Discord for chefs that wanna help us iron out any remaining bugs. [/p]

Sticky Update

[p]Hello chefs![/p][p][/p][p]Looks like we've got ourselves in a sticky situation, chefs. Principal Clucker has introduced 6 new Sticky ingredients that will, as their name suggests, stick to other ingredients and form one massive cluster.[/p][p][/p][p]We've also added 3 new Sticky-related helpers.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]And of course with new mechanics comes new customers: 3 new Drizzler customers who drizzle a bit of immovable Sticky honey on your omelet.[/p][p][/p][p]Yet again Principal Clucker demanded we prod the completionists with 2 new Sticky achievements:[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Go check it all out in our latest Weekly Pantry and let us know what you think![/p][p][/p][p]Lastly, we must acknowledge that we just reached the OVERWHELMINGLY POSITIVE mark on Steam thanks to 500+ positive reviews!     • [p]Ghosts spawn every 10-20 seconds instead of 8-12[/p]

    • [p]We've been hearing from some new chefs that Firing and OnFire were confusing, with phrases like "increase Fire value" being ambiguous. Therefore we made this change to distinguish the 2 mechanics more[/p]
  • [p]All references to "Firing" helpers has a different text effect and color[/p]
    • [p]We went with green to help make it clearer this interacts with your money and not Flaming[/p]
