MARINES VS GOD News

Development Update #3

Hello everyone! We've reached an important milestone in our development process and would like to share our progress.

🎨 Visual Identity Decided
After careful consideration and reviewing the valuable feedback from our previous update, we've finalized our visual direction for Marines vs God. This wasn't a simple decision - we evaluated the merits of low-poly simplicity against the potential of more detailed stylistic approaches.

Community feedback indicated that while low-poly has its charm, players expect more detailed visuals from a PC title. Conversely, semi-realistic graphics would feel to serious for the fun concept of the game. After multiple iterations and thorough team discussions, we've settled on a stylized, colorful visual approach that we believe fits our game the best.

Art Development Progress
We're pleased to share these screenshots showcasing our new visual direction:

Additionally, we've prepared concept art for one of the God variants players will be able to choose:

🔮 Looking Forward
With our visual identity established, our art and development teams are now fully aligned and focused on building the complete experience.

We're interested in hearing your thoughts on our chosen visual direction. Your comments and feedback continue to influence our development process in meaningful ways.

Thank you for your continued support and interest in our project.

Development Update #2

Hello everyone! We're excited to share some news about our development progress.

Our community has grown tremendously over the past period, with around 15,000 people now awaiting the first playtest. We're incredibly grateful for your interest in this project - your support and engagement mean the world to us.

Now, let's dive into what we've been working on:

🎮 Prototyping Game Modes
Given the innovative nature of our gameplay, we've focused on creating straightforward, clear objectives for matches. Currently, we have two modes:
  1. Escape & Survive: Marines must navigate from start to finish through a maze-like map, overcoming obstacles such as locked doors and challenging pathways, while the god player attempts to stop them.
  2. Resource Collection: Marines must retrieve specific objects from various locations and return them to their base, while racing against both time and the god player's interference.

Both modes were tested with various options including time limits, respawn mechanics (individual vs. team respawns), and ability restrictions.

⚖️ Balancing Gameplay
We're fine-tuning various parameters across both modes, including:
  • Weapon damage values and marines' health amount
  • Marines' evasive abilities
  • God player's mana pool and regeneration rate
  • Ability costs, durations, and cooldowns
Creating a fair and enjoyable experience for both sides has proven more challenging than anticipated, but we're making steady progress.

🎨 Visual Style Evolution
Our initial low-poly aesthetic, while functional for the prototype and trailer, may not be the best fit for the game. While it offers advantages like vibrant visuals and low performance requirements, community feedback suggests it might not meet expectations for a PC title.
We're considering three visual directions:
  1. Original low-poly style
  2. Semi-realistic graphics
  3. Stylized colorful graphics

We'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject! Which visual style appeals to you most? Share your preferences in the comments below.

Thank you for your continuous support!

The first playable demo is on it’s way

We are happy to see some interest and response to our game.
Currently we are working on playable demo that you all could enjoy, play-test, share your thoughts and ideas.
What you'll see in the demo:
  • One map to have fun on
  • Marines players will be of two different classes
  • The God player will defend it's ground using up to 7 different spells

To get to that point we have quite some stuff to figure out:
  • The exact conditions of victory are not yet clear and we are testing several ideas
  • The whole balance of a play is in active tuning
  • We are trying out various Marine player class abilities and exact differences
  • Some God player spells are to be done

We are super excited to bring you the first playable version of the game. And we really hope for your engagement and participation in the development process. If you would give us your thoughts, feedback and your engagement then we would do our absolute best to deliver the game you would truly enjoy.

Meanwhile we'll keep you up to speed.
So long dear followers, to be continued...
