Version 2.9.15 Now Available

An update for Primal Carnage: Extinction is now available on Steam!
Update Highlights

Visual Tweak:
Holstered Weapons
A new visual feature we've added is being able to see holstered weapons on human characters!

For example: if a scientist is using her tranq pistol but is also carrying an assault cannon, you can see the cannon attached to her back while it's not in use. Sidearms are a bit harder to see, but both those and primary weapons are displayed on the character's body.

Aside from just being cool, we think this should be helpful in general to sharp-eyed dinosaurs. You now have a chance to see what you're going up against instead of being completely surprised now when they pull out a weapon.
Gameplay Tweaks
One community suggestion we decided to explore for this patch has to do with Tyrants. As of today, they are now body snatchers. If a raptor is pouncing a human, or a Pteranodon has someone in their claws, a Tyrant can bite and hijack that human for themselves to eat.

In fairness to raptors and Pteras, they receive kill credit for the human that was stolen from them.

An interesting side effect of this change is that Tyrants can now feed humans to each other if they're fast enough (both of them receive health)....

Tupa has received a rework to how its impact momentum is actually calculated, leading to a big reduction in vertical knockback when ramming into humans with its head. The distance is about the same, but we think the amount of damage the human feels is a bit more fair now.

Elsewhere, we have continued to address bugs and annoyances such as raptors pouncing people while netted, or it being difficult to ignite acid with the flaregun.

A lot of focus has been on improving controller support as well, with menu sizes and navigation being improved in several key areas. This should make things better both for regular gamepad users and those on Steam Deck.
In-store: Retro Rotations
Easter is now hopping aside to make way for a roaring retro rampage of classic skins, taunts, mutations and more over the next several weeks!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Starting with a Tyrant Takeover, there are ~100 Acro / Rex / Spino items back today with epic discounts! Check back each week as we shine a spotlight on other classic item collections going forward...

You can quickly browse all of the returning items on our Special Trello Board, and preview them in-game.

Easter 2023 Update
Happy Easter!
Grab your Greneggs, a new update for Primal Carnage: Extinction is now available!

This update includes a seasonal Easter Event along with several fixes and improvements, plus adjustments to several weapons and dinosaurs. Read on for all the details...
Balance Changes
Tupandactylus has received some tweaks to make it less of a headache to deal with. Namely, the air ram "headbutt" attack is now less damaging and there's not quite as much knockback from it. To offset this, both Tupa and Ptera now have the same health (350).

The flaregun has seen a radical reworking, its shots now have a small amount of heat-seeking when they fly close to a target. Coupled with this, flaregun shots that land on the ground can now ignite enemies that walk over them. Finally, it has a faster reload speed, but much less ammo than previously, with the projectiles flying slower through the air.

Humans in general should now be a bit more effective in combat. Most guns outside of sniper rifles / special weapons (flamethrower, netgun etc.) now have better mid-range damage output. From the humble MK Pistol, to the speedy Spaz-12, most guns now pack more of a wallop without needing to be in a dinosaur's face.

There are a number of other changes as well, such as more damaging Cryo acid pools and tweaks to the stungun, which you can see in the full notes further down. We're interested to see how these changes play out, as it seemed the mercenary team were still at a disadvantage oftentimes in recent months.
Easter Event
We're celebrating Easter with a fresh batch of new looks in-game today, focused on our feathered fiends! From glorious (and gigantic) Oviraptor mutations, to fluffy Novas and Spitters, there's a tonne of cracking new cosmetics...

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Grab the 2023 Easter Gift to award up to 24 other players with special Easter items! It includes a new Rex mutation, tracking devices for all dinos, new human outfits and a whole flock of Ovi skins! This bumper box contains 33 different items total, with splashy new looks galore such as the epic Gold Slash Spino...

And don't forget - over 50 classic items are returning today as well!

Looking outside of the store, there are a handful of new free drop skins and sprays added to the game. These aren't time-limited and will be sticking around after the Easter Event concludes.

As always, you can check out all of the latest items added to the game on our Special Event Trello board!
Looking Ahead to 3.0
There may be a stretch without content updates for a while as we finalize the revised PlayStation version of Primal Carnage going forward. We're in the final stages of getting our closed console beta approved (once it stops crashing, we'll be accepting testers).

The next big release on PC will be version 3.0, which will bring a lot of the added polish and enhancements being made for the revised PS4 edition to the Steam side. These include more gameplay improvements, large-scale map reworks, expanded lore and backstory, refined UI and HUD with more customizability, and maybe even some new voice acting.

We're unsure when this update will release, but it will most likely be after the PS4 relaunch. We look forward to sharing more about all this in the coming months, and hope you'll like the new overhauls once they're in your hands! Until then, here is the changelog for Easter...

Green Menaces, Deluxe Edition and Steam Deck

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

A new update for Primal Carnage: Extinction is now available. Alongside today's patch, we have a fresh rotation of new looks in-store, a special Deluxe Edition DLC bundle, plus official support for Steam Deck!
NEW Deluxe Edition
Today we're launching a Deluxe Edition bundle for Primal Carnage: Extinction on Steam, which features a generous assortment of classic items!

We have two cosmetic DLC packs as part of the Deluxe Edition bundle - the Mercenary Megapack and Prehistoric Legacy Collection. In total, owning both of these grants you over 300 items, ranging from regular skins for humans and dinosaurs to model mutations and taunts.

Some of these items have previously only been available during special time-limited events such as the Summer Scavenger Hunt, but now you can acquire them as part of the Deluxe Edition bundle!

With even the official soundtrack included in the bundle, we think this is a great value starter pack for new players! If you already own PCE, you can choose to upgrade to Deluxe with a discount. And for those only interested in one of the item collections, you can also choose to buy each DLC pack separately.

Importantly, by purchasing the complete Deluxe Edition you will be supporting future development!
We're committed to providing more updates and new content for the game (Version 3.0 is on the way!), but your help is invaluable in keeping us going.

Players who own both the Prehistoric Legacy Collection and Mercenary Megapack DLCs will receive a special golden nameplate in-game that is visible to other players, as a sign of their supporter status.
Steam Deck
We're rolling out official support for Steam Deck this update. We'd received quite a few requests for this, and since we love the Deck we were happy to oblige!

It might be a while before Valve reviews our compatibility status again, so for now we may not show in the "Great on Deck" section. But fear not, with today's update installed you should be able to boot the game up with no problems on Steam Deck. You can now play PCE multiplayer wherever you go, so long as there's good internet access (or do some solo Survival if the wi-fi is out).

If you're lucky enough to own one, please let us know how your experience on Steam Deck goes! We've fine-tuned the graphics options on first boot so that you should have rock solid performance, but if you encounter issues we'll endeavour to investigate.
St. Patrick's Event
[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Spring is almost upon us and this St. Patrick's Day we're celebrating again with a gaggle of green cosmetics. Two new sets of bold dinosaur skins headline this store rotation, the Green Menace packs! Between them there's 14 voracious veridian creatures ready to be set free...

Marching into the store are several new mutations as well, ranging from the snarling Sarcophagus Acro to the terrifying Thanatos Carno, ready to give you a snap. Not to mention, there's two weird and wonderful Pachycephalosaurus variants - Annectens and Kapros!

Outside of the store, there are a handful of new free drops being added to the game. Why not get into the spirit with a Lucky Fedora, or bling out your Acro with the Goldrush skin!

As always, you can check out all of the latest items added to the game on our Special Event Trello board!
Changelog, Version 2.9.13
Special Valentines Event

A new update is available for Primal Carnage: Extinction on Steam!
We hope you'll just love what we have for you this Valentine's Day...
February Update Highlights

Gameplay Fixes
We're continuing to fine tune things for Flyers after the addition of manual flight modes last update. They now have better blending between hovering and regular flight, and several bugs / exploits relating to changing flight mode have been fixed. There's some additional polish planned for Flyers in future, but things should be a lot more stable now.

Elsewhere, several issues with achievement and challenge tracking have been resolved. So you won't get an achievement for blocking bullets with your dome skull as a human now, and tranquilizer-related tasks should complete properly.

Additional minor fixes are listed in the changelog further down, but the bulk of today's update is our...
SPECIAL VALENTINES EVENT
Love is in the air, we're celebrating Valentine's Day by rotating in a parade of colourful (particularly pink) new looks for you to enjoy!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Having said that... they're not all as loud as Mister Pink! We also have some slightly more reserved styles arriving today, such as the Rugged Rex and Risen Novaraptor...

Although we simply couldn't say no to an Anomalocaris Hat- this weirdly adorable (if slightly creepy) new head warmer is now available in-store...

In addition to the new looks, there are two fresh taunts added today!
Check out the Spinosaurus Display Taunt and Ceratosaurus Defensive Roar...

And of course all of the legacy Valentines items are back at a discount for the duration of the event. Share the love with a classic Valentines Gift, showering up to 24 other people on a server with items!
New FREE Drops!
A collection of new drops are activated today, from the blinding Pink Paws Burst Rifle to the terrifying new Torvus Cerato mutation. As well as new looks, we have a selection of fresh sprays and avatars dropping as well, such as the totes adorbs Raptor Heart:

You can view all of the latest special event items on our Trello board!
Paint Mixers Availability
We've expanded the ways you can obtain Paint Mixer Tools! These are the single-use items required to save your custom look when using the dinosaur colourizer. They're still available on the in-game store, but are now tradable and can be obtained as free drops.

With this change, you now have the chance to acquire Paint Mixer Tools during regular gameplay, or by levelling up, and by completing challenges. Just as a reminder, any multi-pack of paint you buy in-store comes with a Paint Mixer Tool included as well.
Until Next Time!
We'll be continuing to make more minor changes and fixes throughout spring while we prepare to relaunch Primal on PlayStation. Thankyou for your patience.
