The Hive 0.122 update is now available!


Hello everyone, today we are releasing update 0.122 for The Hive

Our plan for this update was to fix bugs, add new gui information and new kind of stats to items


Bug fixes & Features:



  • New item properties
  • Critical strike - Deal double damage
  • Poison - Deal 40% additional damage over 4 seconds
  • Maim - Lower targets damage by 30% for 5 seconds
  • Life Leech - Gain a % of damage done as health
  • Armor pierce - Ignore X defence
  • Reflect - Return X damage when hit
  • Unit selection now has highlight on middle gui
  • Double clicking unit on middle gui selects it
  • Construction bar size fixed
  • New font added to options, loadingscreen and ingame
  • Medic skill cooldowns are longer
  • Maps now have more enemy patrols
  • Enemy patrols show in the minimap
  • Attack damage removed from levelup
  • Tab selection fixed
  • Boss names changed
  • Resources renamed to Minerals
  • Middle gui now shows tooltip on Food, mineral, population and dna
  • Insectoid eggs added to the first spawning pool

The Hive 0.12 update is now available!


Hello everyone, today we are releasing update 0.12 for The Hive

Our plan for this update was to to add new unit, new unit abilities and more items.
We also worked on improving the A.I and pathfinding


Bug fixes & Features:



    New Insectoid Unit - Rhino
    27 new items
    New Medic ability - Resurrect
    New Avatar ability - Chain bolt
    New Queen ability - Call worker, spawn unit
    New Rhino ability - Taunt
    Squads now use improved Pathfinding
    Enemy units now have more patrol routes
    A.I targeting improved
    You can now see enemy stats
    Old items have been rebalanced
    Buildings now have construction bar on top of them
    Buildings now have health bar on top of them
    Research progress now shows on top of the building
    Deselection bug fixed
    Defence max cap set to 70% damage reduction
    More Advisor information sounds added
    Worker selection stays after structure is built
    Worker dig up animation is now faster
    Unit now plays whole attack animation when target dies
    Unit volume now actually does something
    You can now cancel unit and research production by clicking queue
    Dodge and block stats have been added
    Force attack on buildings now overrides aggro
    New unit and ability icons added

    Hello everyone,

    As requested by the community, here are new items we are currently working on. One of the suggestions was that items that Insectoids can carry are more organic instead of normal gear like armor and swords.

    We would also like to decrease the current stats of items and make the attributes more interesting. You could have passive and active item effects like cleave, lifesteal, hp regen or "cursed" items that have posivite and negative effects at the same time.

    We would love to hear suggestions on what kind of new items you would like to see, both visually and how they affect the current game mechanics.


    We are also developing new Insectoid unit upgrade from Legionnaire to "Rhino" This unit would act as a armored "tank" of the Insectoid army that has taunt.

    Hello everyone, today we are releasing update 0.11 for The Hive called "Lost City"

    Our plan for this update was to make add more puzzle elements and add treasures to make exploration more rewarding.

    We have also added new features for testing, for example options menu.

      You can now skip cutscenes using space
      Audiodatabase added to handle custom audio volumes
      Treasure Chests added to all maps, can be opened using Worker

      Drag selection box collision improved
      Pathfinding improvments
      Lizardman faction buffed
      You can now shift select multiple items from inventory
      Inventory has Dissolve trash items button
      AI changes target if kited
      Sunken City models have better collision
      Tech reseach time increased
      Item drop % reduced
      Legendary item stats reduced
      AI defend has range and reset radius
      Workers now always gather meat from source
      "Next update in" Timer no longer shows negative values
      Medic heal range increased
      Hive heal increased based on %
      Hive heals less when in combat
      Hive Queen can now attack Scorpion boss
      Retreating units can be commanded
      Some voice commands were too loud and have been reduced in volume
