Birdigo News

Birdigo (bird word game) is coming to Steam July 30th 2025!

[p]Birdigo (bird word game) is coming July 30th 2025! [/p][p]Wishlist now! 🦜🦜🦜[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink]Birdigo was created and designed by John August (Big Fish, Corpse Bride) and developed by Corey Martin (Bonfire Peaks, Tire Boy). The two met after John put out a call for a game dev collaborator on his screenwriting podcast Scriptnotes.
[/p][p]John wanted to adapt his physical word game AlphaBirds into a Slay the Spire/Balatro-like single player experience. Corey got in touch and, in spite of having played neither Slay the Spire nor Balatro, convinced John he was the person for the job.[/p][p][/p][p]The resulting game, Birdigo, is super fun. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Thanks for reading and, again, wishlist today! [/p]

Egg Hunts!

Hey folks! We just posted a new update to the Birdigo demo, featuring:
EGG HUNTS
Challenging (optional) side quests that gives you a significant permanent upgrade. For example, an additional word per round, or an extra letter card.
KEYBOARD BRILLIANCE
In case you missed it from the last update, Birdigo has great support for keyboards! You can play a complete migration without your fingers ever leaving the keys.
ALSO!
- Many new Feathers
- Many new Songs
- New environments, from the arctic to the tropics
- Restockable Trading Posts
- LOTS of rebalancing*

* Many feather values have been adjusted, but also the word length upgrades have been tamed dramatically. They used to upgrade by 1.5x every 5 hands played, and now they increase +1. They're still an important consideration, but no longer dominate the outcome of a given migration.

If you have any questions or suggestions or criticisms, please reach out! We want to hear about it.

New demo now available with UNLIMITED rounds

Hey folks! We've just pushed a new update to our demo which no longer limits play to 50 rounds. Instead, it's limited to the first migration path and the standard deck, but you can play as much as you like!

In other exciting news, there are now cute biome-based environments, which evolve along with you as you travel across the planet. It's really visually refreshing, I think.

Lastly, we've added a dozen new feathers and a couple new songs, adding new mechanics and dynamics to the game. More to come! We'll keep evolving the game with player feedback (thanks to those sharing it here or via email, both are appreciated!) Keep it coming :)

Best,
Corey

Typing as input! + migration path balancing

We've just pushed a new patch - here's some info about it.

We've been delighted to get a few requests for typing as an input method since we launched the demo. As of the latest patch, you can now type to select letters! Enter/Return to play a word, Delete to discard, Backspace to deselect letters. It's very efficient.

A few players have told us that the early game was too hard, or that migrations would fail due to bad luck, and we agree. The first path (Swainson's Hawk) should be consistently beatable once you know the game well, and that wasn't always the case, so we rebalanced the target points with that in mind.

We also decided to rename the "SPEED" multiplier to "POWER". Some players will inevitably interpret "SPEED" to be related to how fast you input the word, and that's not the case. There's no efficiency or timing-based aspect to the game.

 • Target points now taper off more throughout your migration
 • "SPEED" is now called "POWER"
 • Support typing as an input method
 • Added a few words to the wordlist that were reported absent
 • Feathers are now reorderable, as it can have an impact on gameplay
 • Fixed a bug where upgraded letters would lose their new class
