Game Launches on 20 November 2025

[h2]We're finally launching Cursed Companions! [/h2]
After months of testing, tweaks, and watching you all laugh and scream in the Demo, we're finally ready to open the dungeon doors to everyone. The Early Access version of Cursed Companions will be released on 20th November 2025 (8AM PDT).

It's been such a long journey since the very first time we tested the game concept of using voice control in the game. We are so excited to share the news with you! ❤️



[h2]What's gonna be in the Early Access release?[/h2]

In the Demo, players were restricted to 3 in-game days, a few maps and limited dungeons, equipment, furniture and monsters. In the upcoming release of our Early Access, it's going to be so much more!

This is what you’ll expect to see!
  • SIX new maps or Abyssal Lands to explore and get smashed to bits in
  • An entirely new Dungeon environment (as covered in our Roadmap)
  • 80+ new Dungeon rooms
  • 20 unique scary and funny Monsters
  • TWO tough Bosses to beat
  • Many more deadly traps
  • Lots more fun and useful items/equipment and facilities
  • More home decor
  • Over 70 new skins/accessories
  • 99 Achievements to earn (some will reward you skins)
  • Act 1 and Act 2 short game modes, Traitor Modes and Challenge Modes (see our Roadmap post)

Demo Update: Major Changes and Screamfest Spooky Skins

A final update to the Demo 😉 We're getting close to the finishing line! The updates to the current Demo has quality of life improvements, UI/UX updates, network sync fixes, game balance and other bug fixes.

We're also taking part in Screamfest 2025 and so we have a special skin you can redeem. Head to our Discord channel and find out how you can get the redeem code!



[h2]Key Updates: [/h2]
Update for 0.9.13 For Public Demo, Build ID: 20576309

🔥Major updates
  • Dark Shrine now revives ALL Companions
  • Players now start with TWO Treasure inventory slots instead of one
  • But this means that Treasure targets increased
  • Inventory UI overhaul: Items can now be accessed with 0–9 and F1–F10 keys.
  • Hide the item in your hand using the [`] key.
  • New shortcuts for: Spell Journal and Dungeon Codex. As long as you have them equipped on you, you can use the shortcuts to call them up without scrolling to the books
  • Dance emote is now shown in 3rd-person view (so you can watch yourself dance!)
  • Speech-to-Text captions added to the UI
  • Facilities are now available within dungeon maps.
  • Added Mic and Voice Onboarding at the start
  • Removed "Hard" map category (for now).
  • Skull Points (XP) system implemented
⚖️Balance Changes
  • Items at Gregory's are now cheaper.
  • Lurkers deal less damage
  • Rebirth Egg revives players at Full health.
  • Black Coin spawn rates upped.
  • More items can be bought with Black Coins.
  • Stamina Potion max stack reduced to 4.
  • Poison damage now ticks less frequently.
  • Player jump height slightly increased.
  • Running stamina increased.
  • Totems spawn rates upped.
  • Watcher attack cooldown increased.
  • Mannequin speed reduced.
  • Poison & Death Curse traps now deal 1 Heart of damage.
🐞 Bug Fixes
  • Fixed desync issues when falling off maps or spawning in broken dungeons.
  • Fixed crash when players leave the game.
  • Players can no longer double-drink potions by spamming inputs.
🔧 Other Adjustments
  • Public Game Filters: all regions and game modes are now visible.
  • UI and general Quality of Life updates
  • Optimization to improve framerates
  • You can reset voice detection in Settings.
  • Furniture can now be rotated both directions.
  • Added confirmation pop-up when saving your house.
  • Traitor Mode: player positioning in the voting hall has been adjusted.
Known Issues
  • Mannequin missing its sound effects
  • Keybinding still work in progress
  • Drop-in/Drop-outs (Late joiners) still work in progress

Roadmap Ahead: Part 3

Hello everyone, welcome to Part 3 of our Roadmap series! In Part 2, we talked about the structure of the new Dungeons, Traps and more, now we're super excited to share something new - Achievements and Skins!


We were surprised to see how much time everyone spent in the wardrobe customizing their outfits in the Demo! Lots of you loved the variety of skins available straight out of the box. That inspired us to expand the number of skins in the game. Don't worry, they're not a DLC or something you have to pay for. Instead, you earn them with Skull Points, our in-game XP system.

[h2]Skull Points = Skill Points[/h2]
Skull Points are awarded when you return Treasure, survive the Days, and complete Missions. Spend them on new Skins or decorating your home to show off your style. It's really easy to earn Skull Points, just keep playing! Before you know it, you'd have plenty to spend on new skins to fully customize your character, or on new furniture to show off your new house to your friends.


After we've added the extra skins, we soon realized that there's no proper way to admire them! So we’ve added a feature where while you’re dancing, the camera pulls out of the first-person view and goes into third-person spectate mode, where you can admire your skin from every angle possible.

[h2]Lots of Achievements[/h2]
We’re also adding a wide variety of Achievements - from straightforward ones like completing quests to more chaotic ones like getting taken out by monsters, accidentally (or not!) killing your teammates, or healing your friends.



Achievements will unlock special Skins too, giving you even more reasons to explore every nook of the game. At launch there will be at least 100 Achievements, with lots more planned after.

Whether you’re hunting treasures, surviving dungeons, or just decorating your character and home - Skull Points, Skins, and Achievements are here to reward you and your engagement. Dive in, explore fully, and see what surprises await!

Roadmap Ahead: Part 2

Hey everyone, welcome back to the second part of our Roadmap series! In our last article, we talked about the structure of the co-op experience (Acts 1 and 2, Challenge and Endless Modes, etc), now it's time for us to share what lurks inside those dungeons and beyond.

[h2]The Ruined Temple Dungeon[/h2]

What did the Dark Queen get up to? Looks like there’s more to her story than meets the eye. In Act 2, you face an all new environment. You and your squad will descend into a ruined temple where sandstone walls, deep caverns and sinister rituals tell you you're not welcome. Plus we mustn't forget to mention the scary inhabitants.

[h2]New Traps[/h2]
Monsters aren't your only problem. The Dungeon itself is out to kill you. Here are some new traps for the upcoming Early Access.

The Crusher Trap: pulverizes anyone who dares step inside unless you say the right words, then it will stop momentarily, with just enough time for you to cross it. Run across before it restarts. You only have a short time until it starts again.



The floor is literally LAVA: exactly what it sounds like. Step wrong, and it's instant boiling death.



The Meathook: A swinging pendulum of death. Time your movements around it. Get it wrong and it will push you into the lava and you get cooked.



[h2]New Abyssal Lands[/h2]
And beyond the dungeon walls? New lands for you to explore with more creatures that make going back more treacherous than ever. It would be wise to stock up on teleport stones and find more ways to get home.



This is just the beginning of what we're building to make every run unpredictable, deadly, and memorable. Part 3 of our Roadmap will take you even deeper, but for now… stay tuned my dear Companions.

Roadmap Ahead: Part 1

Hey everyone, this is the first of a series of roadmap articles where we'll share our plans for the game and explain the direction we're taking for the game's march towards Early Access.

[h2]Different Playstyles[/h2]
In other co-op games we've watched and played, sessions with friends often range from 1 to 3 hours casually, and even longer for groups who really want to push their limits.

Our early idea was for the game to progress endlessly as players got better. But that approach had drawbacks - especially for casual players who don't want to grind through the same early stages every time just to see the mid- or late-game. We also felt that runs needed a sense of closure, so players can feel they've completed something together.

We also know it's not always easy to get a crew together, so we've built modes that work for any kind of team.

Whether you're jumping in with close friends or teaming up on the fly, there's a mode that works for you.

[h2]Game Modes for Casual and Hardcore players[/h2]

The Co-op Game will have different game modes, giving both casual and hardcore players experiences that fit their playstyle.

Chapter 1 – A ‘gentle' starting point for casual players and beginners. There will be three in-game days, and if you pass, you get to fight the Chapter 1 Boss. If you enjoyed the demo, this will feel familiar.

Chapter 2 – A tougher challenge with a Ruined Temple dungeon, new Abyssal Lands, traps, items, and monsters, etc, ending with a Chapter 2 Boss battle.

Challenge Mode – A longer, riskier adventure: six in-game Days, plus a Boss (either Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 boss), combining monsters, items and environments from both chapters.

Endless Mode – No stopping point - keep going as long as you can. Every 6 days you can choose to face a Boss (either Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 boss). Try to get as far as you can.

Hard Difficulty – Available in Chapter 1, Chapter 2, and Challenge Mode for those who want to test themselves. The Queen heartily approves...

Rewards – Unlock unique Achievements and skins as proof of your progress.

[h2]Sneak Peek: The Ruined Temple[/h2]

Chapter Two gets an all new environment - the Ruined Temple. More monsters and creatures await in this second act of the Cursed Companions.

We'll cover more in the upcoming posts as we dive deeper into the new features we're developing towards Early Access.
