Small update: Fixed the issue where curse words, doors, don't trigger, etc

We finally found out what went wrong when players sent bug reports where they couldn't trigger curse doors, curse words and rebirth eggs. Thanks to the community, we finally pinpointed the issue.

It was related to the Push-to-Talk button being activated when the feature was supposed to be off. So even though PTT was off, if you pressed T, it would still enable PTT. Hopefully that would fix this annoying bug.

Other changes include renaming Push-to-talk to Toggle-to-talk, as you didn't press T to talk but instead toggled it on and off. Thank you for one of the community for great feedback.

We also made some minor improvements to the QOL.

[h2]Fixes[/h2]
  • Issue where players cannot trigger Curse Words, Curse Door and Rebirth Egg should be fixed. Please let us know if it hasn't and send us your error logs.
  • Twitch users who connect to Twitch will not trigger the Twitch Connect webpage every time they launch the game
  • Added Happy Holidays furniture and cosmetics
  • Fix issue where Horse Face skin and Hotdog head skin is bugged - pointing at the wrong achievements
  • Minor improvements to QOL, basic tweaks, UI/UX improvements.
  • Language-beta: improvements to Japanese, Spanish, German,Ā French,Ā Russian phrases

[h2]Working on these Major Bugs [/h2]
  • We are still trying to figure out why some mics do not work during voice chat. Some players experience this, where they are not audible to other players, but they can trigger spells and curse words. So they can hear their friends, but their friends can't hear them. This is a hard one to fix because we haven't been able to replicate the issue. So if you do encounter this, please let us know and send your error logs so we can figure it out once and for all.
  • Drop-in/Drop-out Mid Game Desync: Players who enter the game when the portal is opened will experience missing items or closed treasure chests and so on. Sometimes even see different dungeons. We are working on this.
  • Players still get dungeons where they overlap each other: We're working making sure this does not happen. Because our dungeons are random, there is a small chance a bad dungeon gets generated. It doesn't happen during testing but with a larger group of players, this becomes likelier to happen statistically. We are trying to reduce that likelihood to zero.


[h2]Working on Endless Mode [/h2]
We're working on the Endless Mode right now as well. It's almost ready, just making sure we fix the other issues and getting the balance right. Hopefully will get it ready before the year ends.

Traitor Mode Bug: Players Unable to return Treasure, working on a fix

We’ve discovered a bug in Traitor Mode where players are unable to return treasure. We’re already working hard on a hotfix, and it should be resolved within a few hours.

Cursed Companions is Officially Live

Cursed Companions Early Access is officially live! 🄳Thank you to everyone who followed us, wishlisted, played the demo, and supported us along the way. This release means a lot to our tiny team, and we cannot wait for you to experience it, we've added so much more content since the demo and we will add much more in the months to come.ā¤ļø

Your feedback has shaped so much of the game. We read your comments, your ideas, watched you play and we kept refining and fine-tuning the mechanics, and fixing bugs (as many as we could) to ensure you have a smooth experience from start to finish.

We enjoyed making this game and even after months of testing and playing, we still find it fun, and we still laugh out loud. Sometimes we end up in tears cos the situations were utterly hilarious. We love making this game and we have so many ideas and concepts we'd love to try as the voice-control mechanics of the game has so much potential!

[h2]What's new since the Demo[/h2]

If you've played the demo, be prepared for tons of new content and new game modes.

NEW MONSTERS & DUNGEONS
  • We've added over 100 new rooms and an entirely new dungeon theme to make sure your runs are always different.
  • Many more monsters - and some are very unique, like the Conductor and Screamsucker
  • There are new objects like Sarcophagi, Teleportaloos, etc in the dungeon that you can take advantage of
  • More traps and more traps. And the floor is lava!

NEW EQUIPMENT, DECOR & SKINS
  • We added lots more 'fun' equipment to the game, check out the Windbreak Potion, Potion of Insight and Summoning Staff

[h2]Game Modes Available[/h2]
  • Act 1 - Easy Difficulty. Hit the treasure quota in 3 days then face off with Antoinette
  • Act 2 - Medium. New Abyssal Lands. New dungeon - Ruined Temple. Same as Act 1, but face off with Simon
  • Challenge - Medium. You take on all monsters in Act 1 and 2, after 6 days, face off with either Antoinette or Simon
  • Traitor - Find the betrayer among your team, a social deduction mode

[h2]Language support[/h2]
The early access version of this game currently support English. We wanted to do more but we realized when making the spells, it isn't so simple to translate them to another language. The spells had to be funny. There were hours spent refining them, making sure they're easy to say when you're panicking, making sure that they can work with most accents.

That said, we've included a basic set for non-English speakers to start with. Please note that they are in early stages of development, with Chinese, French, Spanish and German in a little better state then the rest. We're hoping for the community to help and you can join our Discord to make new spells. We've designed it so that the spells can easily be modded by anyone. More on this later on.

Here's a list of languages the Beta version of the EA can support:
Spanish / German / Chinese / French / Brazilian-Portuguese / Russian / Japanese / Polish / Turkish / Italian / Dutch / Korean

We're still working on these:
  • Mid-game drop-in / drop-outs may cause desync issues (I.e. If you join a game after the portal has opened)
  • Stuck monsters in tight spaces or if their paths meet and get stuck
  • Some monsters don't retarget well
  • Lag issues with Summoning Staff
  • Other balancing issue, minor bugs and QOL improvements

Demo Closing on 16 November

As we approach our Early Access launch on 20 Nov, we will be shutting down the Demo on Sunday, 16 Nov.

So what does this mean?
  1. You will not be able to transfer your settings, skins and house decor to the main release. However, there will be tons of new skins and house decor to unlock!
  2. Limited edition skins (Traitor, Discord, etc) can be used in the main release - we will give instructions on how to redeem them again later on our Discord
  3. The current demo build will no longer be playable on Steam
