Community Naming Contest Winners Are In

We recently ran a naming contest on our Discord, and the response was great - thanks to everyone who took part!

In the first round, the community submitted a huge range of creative (and slightly unhinged) names. We shortlisted a few, and then the community voted to decide the winners.

The contest was for two new Treasures coming in the next update:

[h2]Treasure #1 (working name "The Lantern")[/h2]

A mysterious light source hidden in the Dungeon. It works like a torch - no spells required. Just find it, and let there be light.

Several good names came up - Dimlit, Friendly Fire, Lucky Lumen, Gaslighter. The community eventually voted for ... drumroll🥁🥁🥁 GASLIGHTER

[h2]Treasure #2 (working name "The Revive Doll")[/h2]

A strange little figure with powerful magic. If a player carrying it dies, they are revived automatically.

In the shortlist of names - Random Human Name (like Peter or Fred), Do-over Doll, Plan B and Stitch-back Simon - and the votes went to ... more drumroll 🥁🥁🥁... PLAN B !!

And honestly… Gaslighter and Plan B are hilarious. These are too good.

New update combines Spell Journal, Dungeon Codex into one, and more improvements

Your feedback has been incredibly helpful in shaping the game, and we want to say thanks to everyone who has shared their thoughts with us.



[h2]Combining Spell Journal and Dungeon Codex[/h2]
Based on your suggestions, we've combined the Spell Journal and the Dungeon Codex into a single interface: the Spell Book, so that frees up one slot in your inventory space and simplifies the mechanics a little. Though we know some players prefer the old two book option, we feel it's the right move and lowers the learning curve a little while not impacting the gameplay heavily.



[h2]Lowering the difficulty[/h2]
We've also adjusted the difficulty of Act 1 and Act 2 by lowering the Treasure targets slightly, following feedback that the early game felt a bit too demanding. The other modes are still at the same difficulty, so for players who want a challenge, they can try the Challenge and Endless modes.

[h2]Other improvements[/h2]
In addition, we've implemented several bug fixes. Most notably, we've worked on resolving the issue where overlapping dungeon rooms could cause walls to intersect and trap players. This should now be fixed so players won't get stuck when dungeon layouts overlap. Hopefully we'll see the last of that.

  • fixed negative Gold in shop
  • fixed show different map names for random map selection
  • fixed dungeon overlap issues and blocked entrances (hopefully)
  • removed boss maps for traitor mode (side door issues will put it back once fixed)

You Asked, We Listened: The Official Cursed Companions Soundtrack is Live!

We honestly didn't expect these tracks to take off the way they have! We wanted some music for the Party Box for the holiday season, something fun and happy to dance to. So JaggedSky (our co-founder) looked around and decided to make some music for fun, trying some tunes, samples and remixes out.

And then what started as something JaggedSky made for fun in his spare time has turned into the most requested thing in our community! OMG! Totally unexpected!

Thus, by popular demand, the official soundtrack is now LIVE ON BANDCAMP!

Small update: Mostly bug fixes and a new cosmetic

  • fixed issue where boss dungeon not generated properly for mid-game drop-ins (players joining midway)
  • fixed issue where all consumable items occupy an inventory slot when players swap inventory items before the consuming animation completes (Cure-All Potion, Lightning in a Bottle, Lungs Of Steel, Muscle Elixir, Queen Tonic, Stink Potion, Potion of Insight, Soul Potion, Windbreak Potion)
  • fixed issue where Summoning Staff stuck on inventory after used
  • fixed house decor not reloading after game restarts after the game is over
