  • Reduced number of shield-wielding enemies in Endless
  • Added the tougher glasses-wearing enemies to Endless
  • Fixed and improved mosquito spawning in Blood Endless
  • Added more weapon type variety to Flesh, Blood, and Bone Endless,

GORN 2 (SteamVR) Review

Back in 2019, virtual reality was in a very different place. The original Oculus Quest had just launched, bringing untethered VR gaming to the masses, while Valve had entered the hardware space with the high-end Index. It was a breakthrough moment for VR—one that felt like the first true consumer boom for the platform. Alongside hardware innovations came a wave of standout games: Half-Life: Alyx, Blood & Truth, and nestled among them, GORN—a wild, over-the-top, physics-driven gladiator brawler from indie developer Free Lives. With its cartoonishly violent combat, flailing limbs, and a complete disregard for realism, GORN quickly became a fan favourite and even a system seller.

But that was six years ago. In the years since, the landscape of VR has changed significantly. Meta has released the Quest 2 and 3, pushing for better performance, wireless play, and comfort. Sony has doubled down with PSVR2, and the games themselves have become more ambitious and immersive. As someone... Read more

GORN is back, baby!

That's right, GORN 2 is really happening!

Many of us at Cortopia were big fans of GORN, so we reached out to Devolver and Free Lives with a pitch for a sequel. Not only were they gracious enough to hear us out, but they ended up publishing the game and helping us with development, and it’s been a pleasure working with them.

Our goal with GORN 2 was simple: focus on maximizing fun. We amplified all the things that made GORN great, removed some of the annoyances, built five unique worlds, added actual boss fights, and implemented modern VR conveniences. But most importantly, we made a ton of unique traps, weapons, hazards, creatures, and contraptions to provide endless opportunities for creativity and chaos. The result is an immersive escape from reality, where you’re guaranteed to feel like a badass and have a lot of good laughs.

Inspired by the modern VR combat games out there, we wanted to take all of the over-the-top destruction, humor and general absurdity that makes GORN so unique and charming, crank that up to eleven and match it with really tight combat, weapons, hazards and powerups, all at your disposal to live out your best destructive gladiator fantasy.

Oh, and did we mention our crowds of up to over 800 rokibe? All excitedly watching, waiting to see you fall... OR see you become the champion of the arena!

If it’s as much fun to play as it was to make, you’ll have a fantastic time.
