The camera perspective is being optimized, a brand-new experience is on the way!

Meow~ After the small-scale test of Supercat Survivors: Meow or Die, our team made a daring decision based on feedback from test players! We decided to optimize the scene performance and camera perspective!

First, the scene in the previous test version was set on a seaside beach with a yellow color ground. However, many weapon attack and monster attack effects were also predominantly yellow, making it difficult to see projectiles and attack effects during gameplay. To address this, we have overall adjusted the battle scene by changing it to a dark tone, which can better highlight attack effects. Meanwhile, we’ve added several spot lights to the scene to enhance the texture of the environment.

Next, we also optimized the camera perspective. The image below shows the camera perspective from the previous test version. The strong perspective effect caused obvious distortion of monster and object models at the edges of the screen, which easily led to visual discomfort. Additionally, due to the strong perspective, the upper half of the screen had a larger, farther, and wider viewing area, while the lower half was smaller, closer, and narrower. During combat, this made it difficult to observe monsters in the lower half of the screen and avoid them in time.
Players might experience anxiety while playing, and prolonged play could even lead to extreme behaviors like dry mouth, restlessness, rapid heartbeat, irritability, shouting, anger, throwing keyboards, smashing mice, or even breaking monitors—ultimately resulting in refunds. Therefore, we decided to optimize the camera perspective!

The effect of the camera perspective optimization is shown in the image below. The original perspective was an obvious inverted trapezoid (wide at the top, narrow at the bottom), while the new perspective is clearly rectangular and more approximates an orthogonal view.

Overall, we have significantly reduced the perspective effect, shifting the visuals toward an orthogonal style. This solves the issues of edge model distortion and asymmetrical battlefield observation, creating a smoother gameplay experience to help the Supercats save the Meow Star!
