A Thank You and a Sneak Peek at PHASE ZERO’s Future

[p]Hello everyone, [/p][p][/p][p]As we entered 2026, it’s hard not to feel a bit nostalgic for the year that’s gone - and to think about what this one brings. To us, this whole last year has been one heck of a feel-good story. A year that has gone waaaay above our expectations. [/p][p][/p][p]When we announced our game all the way back in May, we never expected to get where we are today. We had PHASE ZERO make its grand reveal at The MIX online showcase. Our demo began with an IGN exclusive, it was played and mentioned by some of our idols, we got nominated for awards, and we had the gaming and horror press and creators embrace our game with open arms. Absolute madness. And, the best part is, that’s not all. [/p][p][/p][p]The biggest surprises came from you, the players. There were over 20,000 of you who played our demo, with, at the time of writing, a 98% Positive Steam rating based on nearly 400 reviews. PHASE ZERO so far has also collected over 80,000 Steam wishlists! This is seriously a number that goes WAAAY above what our small team expected. Seeing all the fan art, the comments, the feedback, and the love coming from you all made us feel that we are working on something that people like and are looking forward to playing. As devs, what more could we ask for?!? So thank you for the outpour of such positivity and encouragement. It’s massive fuel for all of us.[/p][p][/p][p]All of this positivity made us want to deliver a final product that is worthy of your time. Now that there are so many of you waiting, we want to make PHASE ZERO the best game it can possibly be. To be completely honest, our production timeline has extended a bit, which explains why we were quiet about showing new content that we are working on. To all of you who wanted to see more of PHASE ZERO last year, we hope the wait will be worth it. To start the teasing process, here are some screenshots of all-new, never-before-seen locations. What do you think!? [/p][p][/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]And finally, our biggest New Year's resolution is to release PHASE ZERO this year. [/p][p][/p][p]So here was our long-winded way of saying thank you to all of you for showering a small group of devs with some of the greatest support a studio could ask for. Thank you for joining us on this journey and for being a part of the PHASE ZERO process. And here is to a huge and eventful 2026. Hope you will love the horrors that we are preparing. [/p][p][/p][p]Here’s to a fantastic 2026![/p][p][/p][p]Your SPINA Studio[/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

65k Wishlists and Our First Game Awards Nominations

[p]Hello there,

It’s hard to put into words the feeling that we’ve all shared ever since we revealed PHASE ZERO three months ago. Since our announcement, we’ve received tons and tons of positive comments about our game and our demo was played by thousands of people from all over the world (shout out to the one person from Curacao who played the demo!). And to see that we’ve reached over 65,000 Steam Wishlists in just under three months is… nuts. So thank you to all of you who played our demo, left us comments, for the Overwhelmingly Positive demo rating, for joining our Discord (come join if you haven’t - it’s fun!), making crazy-cool fan art, and wishlisting our ode to classic survival horror.

You all are the best.

We also had another pleasant surprise. Last month, PHASE ZERO was nominated in three categories at the PIXEL AWARDS EUROPE (love the capitalised title, just btw). Our game got nominated for the Big Bang!, Retro Roots, and the Indie Grand Prix awards. Unfortunately, we didn’t end up taking any of the award statues home, but just to be mentioned along with other great titles was a reward in itself. And the best part was, on the day we got to show off our game to you, the people! Check out some of the photos from the showfloor. We had a blast.

So, what’s coming up next for us? To be honest, lots and lots of work. We will now bury our heads deep and keep working on PHASE ZERO. We have some new tasty locations to cook, new zombies and enemies to make, and lots of other things that are both big and small, and somewhere in between. Our plan is to share with you what we are working on here on Steam, so follow our game or join our Discord so you can stay up to date with all the gossip.

Alright, that’s it from us. Once again, thank you for all your support. It means a ton to us. And as always, stay safe out there people. The streets of Flint Peak are not what they used to be.

Until next time,
SPINA Studio[/p][p] [dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

Demo Update #1

Hey everyone!

It’s been a week since our demo launched, and we’re thrilled to see how much you’re enjoying it! We’re also incredibly grateful for all the feedback you've shared, both in the Steam discussions and on our official Discord. Thanks to your input, we’ve been able to identify the changes and improvements you’d like to see in PHASE ZERO.

And so we’ve prepared a small technical update for you with the following changes:
- added a separate “Controls” tab in the settings to make the analog control option easier to find;
- added “classic” tank controls to analog modes;
- added an option to set preferred gamepad icons, independent of the detected controller type;
- added an option to easily clear gamepad mappings;
- added a VSync toggle in display settings;
- setting “HUD Interactions” to “None” now properly disables all outline highlights;
- fixed a bug that could cause softlocks during some interactions;
- fixed a bug that caused the character to get stuck in the aiming state if quick turn and reload were triggered at the same time;
- firing a weapon to cancel a reload now requires the aim button to be pressed;
- toned down barefoot stepping sounds;
- tuned up shotgun firing sounds;

All things related to animations and gameplay (like auto-aim) will be addressed - these improvements are being developed for the final game, and we plan to keep updating the demo accordingly to reflect those changes.

Stay safe, and don't skip leg day!

A massive thanks from us to you

Hello everyone,

We just wanted to write a few words to you all and say “Thank you” for all your support. Since last week’s reveal during The MIX, we got tons of positive comments, questions, messages of support, and just general excitement for our game. And we’ve also hit a major goal - we now reached over 10,000 Steam Wishlists in less than a week. To us, this is insane. A wow moment that we’re experiencing live and not just in our imagination.

We’ve been working on PHASE ZERO for a while and never did we expect to see such a reaction. So thank you so so much for showing interest in our project.

Also, a demo is coming real soon too, along with an official Discord server. To have the demo out and in your hands will be another insane moment for us. We hope that you will like it as well. It’s not that far away, so please stay tuned.

Once again, thanks for all your support. We’re making PHASE ZERO just for you.

Stay safe,

SPINA Studio
