How does the process of entering the study look?

Before the actual research, the participant is requested to fill out a twenty-five page agreement between them and Neurem Labs. It contains a brief summary of the Dreampainters project, payment information, and potential health risks.
After that, the participant may begin the actual preparation:

First step - the selected participant undergoes extensive brain scanning and a physical assessment to ensure maximum compatibility with the research equipment.

Second step - If all requirements are met, the participant is connected to a laboratory apparatus that captures electromagnetic brain waves, and thanks to our advanced technology, visualizes them on researchers’ screens.

Third, and final step before the examination begins - The participant is administered a sleep-inducing substance (which is earlier agreed upon), and gradually led into a state of slumber.
Usually all the preparation and dreaming takes about 8 to 10 hours.

Due to the individuality of each participant, we cannot foresee how exactly the dreaming during the examination process may look and feel like. To ensure credible results, Neurem Labs cannot interfere with it. The dreams often depend on the participant's creativity level, their wants, needs, memories, and many more aspects of their life.

Neurem Labs does not take responsibility for the participants’ experiences, since they are fully dependent on their individual minds. Regarding individuals’ mental state, the dreams that occur may not always be pleasant. We recommend you take a careful approach and take great care of yourself at least a week before the study.

If you’re interested in further cooperation, please respond to this e-mail with:
a scan of your identification card or passport,
the date that is most suitable for you,
medical history related to sleep issues, or schizotypal disorders (if any).

Please, also include information if you will need assistance with accommodation and travel*, so we can make sure your experience with Neurem Labs will be a pleasant one.

*overall costs of said assistance will be deducted from the final pay

We are looking for paid participants in the “Dreampainters” study at Neurem Labs – limited spots available.

The Dreampainters study is an innovative project conducted by Neurem Labs, aimed at extensively exploring the creative processes during dream sleep – what triggers our dreams and what conditions influence them? Using state-of-the-art technology, our lab can visualize dreams in real time and study the imagination at work while you sleep.

We assure you that the study is safe (in the majority of cases), conducted by the most experienced oneirologists and pioneers in the treatment of narcolepsy, insomnia, and various sleep-related issues.

The lead researcher - Dr. Cynthia Andrews, has many years of experience in the study of dreams and a deep passion for the Dreampainters project. She conducts the simulations individually, acting as a dream guide while ensuring the participant’s safety and comfort.

How to take part in the study?
We are seeking highly creative individuals skilled in the arts, or those with knowledge and passion for art history. This includes:
painters (any technique)
digital artists (any technique)
individuals with an academic background in art history, or a strong passion for the subject
sculptors (any technique)
graphic designers (both digital and printmaking)
photographers
Artistic experience documented in the form of a portfolio is highly welcome. This call has no set deadline, however a non-negotiable condition is that you have to be 18 or older to participate due to the possibility of unpredicted circumstances.

We’re open to helping with arranging your travel if needed, as well as the accommodation, however it will be deducted from the final paycheck.

My name is Xibuk, former House Flipper 2 game director and I'd like to tell you about my new project, Dreampainters.
We are a small, passionate team strongly inspired by games such as Portal, Superliminal, and Viewfinder. Dreaming is a fascinating process, some people remember their fantasy while others only wish for it. We aim to create a title that immerses you in an amazing surrealistic world of dreams.

So what is Dreampainters about? It's a first-person game, where you travel through your dreams trying to solve puzzles using paints of different colors and abilities.
