DeadCore Redux News

DeadCore Redux is out now!

DeadCore Redux is finally out now!
[p]It took us 10+ years to reunite and the first thing we wanted to do is revisit the Tower and give it the extra love it deserved: it is now done and the team is very proud to present you this ultimate version of DeadCore![/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]
DeadCore Redux features many improvements compared to the 2014 game like revamped Graphics / Audio / UI, a gigantic new Level, a new Ranking system and supports Gamepads.[/p][p]We also took the liberty to make some minor changes to the original level design and we are so eager to watch you play and find new creative ways to reach the Summit!
[/p][p]To celebrate the release, the game launches with a -20% discount and we set up a bundle that includes both versions of DeadCore with an additional -40% discount, mainly to allow the owners of the original game to grab Redux at a significatively lower price.[/p][p][/p][p]If you feel like challenging the best, the BreadCore community kindly created a dedicated page on Speedrun.com: https://www.speedrun.com/DeadCore_Redux
[/p][p]We have created a FAQ and you can exchange with us via the Steam forums but let’s say we are way more reactive on our Discord server: https://discord.gg/fpbBeqgu9u[/p][p][/p]
What’s next?
[p]Unless there is an emergency like a game breaking bug we didn’t see beforehand, we are probably going to take a few days break to recover from the launch ^^’...[/p][p][/p][p]After that we will keep taking feedback from players, fixing bugs or polishing some minor pieces of content.[/p][p][/p][p]We have some ideas regarding additional content we would like to add to the game or even a brand new game project but to be fully transparent it will greatly depend on DeadCore Redux sales.[/p][p][/p]
Special thanks
[p]Many people helped us during the development of Redux and we wanted to thank them, with a special mention for our community and especially the fine people that helped us playtesting the game: we couldn’t have done it without you guys, so, THANK YOU![/p][p][/p][p]That’s all for now: see you at the Summit![/p][p][/p]

Merry Christmas!

[p][/p][p]Hey everyone!  [/p][p]A quick news to let you know that we pushed localization further for DeadCore Redux: thanks to our friends at Lockit QA, the game will now be available in Simplified Chinese, Russian and Ukrainian! [/p][p]
Back in 2014, DeadCore was supporting English, French (obviously ^^) and German but we took a look at where the majority of our players came from and decided it was time to let them enjoy the game in the most accessible way possible. [/p][p]
You can already give it a try as we updated the demo accordingly and are eager to get feedback about it! [/p][p]
As you may already know, DeadCore Redux will be released on January 15, 2026: there's still a lot of work to get there but we are really excited to see players race each other again in Speedrun mode and obliterate developers times on every single level : ) [/p][p]
[/p][p]Cheers, [/p][p]Team 5 Bits Games.[/p][p]

[p]Now it’s official![/p][p][/p][p]It took us more time than expected but after a bit more than 1 year of hard work, DeadCore Redux will be released on 01/15/2026.[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]Thanks to our playtesters who gave us a lot of feedback, we’re really happy with this new and improved version that completely revamps the game look and feel in addition to adding more content.[/p][p][/p][p]If you want to give it a try, we’ve just uploaded a new demo that features the usual bug fixes and overall improvements but most importantly that brings back :[/p]

  • [p]Logs menu in an updated version
    [/p]

Archeology - 7DFPS 11th anniversary

[p]Hey there,[/p][p]To celebrate the start of this year 7DFPS, we put together a little surprise for you : )[/p][p][/p][p]While digging into some old and dusty hard drives, we found ancient builds of Deadlock, the original prototype of DeadCore made during the 2012 7DFPS![/p][p][/p][p]Playing these builds, taking a look at old screenshots of different stages of development and old pictures of (way) younger versions of ourselves really brought back many fond memories of the numerous steps we took during this journey!
And what a journey! It all started after we graduated from a master in video games where we all met: some of us were starting to work in the industry and were longing for an opportunity to make games together again.[/p][carousel][/carousel][p][/p][p]The opportunity came up when the first 7DFPS was announced back in summer 2012: the goal was to make a first person game within 7 days and due to the limited time and other constraints the idea of a FPS-Platformer without any damage/combat system quickly came to our minds and we rushed during a week to make something we found really cool back in the days (well, it does feel a bit rough today…).[/p][p][/p][p]We kept pushing the prototype further, polishing it for months, adding more features and content until we reached a point where we thought we would actually have a (small) game in our hands that we could sell and would at the very least serve as a portfolio to land a job in the industry.
[/p][p]We did a small crowdfunding campaign to pay for a few Unity licenses and started showcasing our prototype during events and festivals, getting feedback from players and iterating on the level design to make it more accessible (and sometimes doubling the size of some platforms as initially it was insanely difficult!).[/p][p]
[/p][p]This has been a bumpy ride and yet full of many precious moments we will always remember like when we were invited by Unity to their booth at the 2014 GDC (watching the game’s trailer being displayed on a disco ball later on in a night club in San Francisco was really something ^^’).[/p][p][/p][p]Back to the initial topic, we’ve created a page on Itch.io: [/p][p]https://5bitsgames.itch.io/deadlock-7dfps[/p][p][/p][p]There you’ll find:[/p]
  • [p]The original Deadlock 7DFPS prototype (~1 week of work)[/p]
  • [p]DeadCore alpha build (~1 year of work)
    [/p]
[carousel][/carousel][p]Be aware that these old builds come in the state they were more than 10 years ago and might be a bit buggy…
[/p][p]Anyway, we hope you will have fun digging these old builds that truly are testimonies of how DeadCore evolved through all these years and don’t hesitate to share your times/thoughts on them, it’s always cool for us to hear from you : )[/p][p]
And wishlist the remaster on Steam !!
[dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p][p]Cheers![/p][p]

[/p]

DeadCore Redux closed alpha playtest starting now!

[p][/p][p][/p][p]Hey there,[/p][p][/p][p]As DeadCore Redux is (slowly) nearing completion we are organizing a closed alpha playtest session.[/p][p][/p][p]\[DISCLAIMER] It’s an alpha version which means it’s still Work In Progress:[/p]
  • [p]Level Art / Audio passes haven’t been done on every level[/p]
  • [p]Art pass hasn’t been started on enemies[/p]
  • [p]Cutscenes are still placeholders (old versions from the original game)[/p]
  • [p]Logs menu is still inaccessible[/p]
  • [p]Level Design still needs to be tweaked / polished on Level07[/p]
[p] That being said, if you want to participate, here’s what you need to do:[/p]
  • [p]Go to our Discord server:  [/p]
[p]https://discord.gg/fpbBeqgu9u[/p]
  • [p][/p]
  • [p]Post the following message in channel “dr-playest”: Hello, I would like to participate in DeadCore Redux playtest [/p]
  • [p]If we still have keys available, you’ll get a DM with a Steam key : )[/p]
[p] A few things we’re asking you regarding the playtest:[/p]
  • [p]Please do NOT publish any video of this version as it’s still WiP (no, seriously!)[/p]
  • [p]Ideally, fill the playtest questionnaire once you’ve played Level 07 (The Gateway), this would really help us polish the game![/p]
    • [p]Click on “send feedback” button on Title screen to access the questionnaire[/p]
    • [p]It’s totally anonymous, no data will be collected or whatsoever[/p]
    • [p]It’s not long, most questions are of the “Yes/No” or “on a scale of 0 to 10, rate this thing…” type, while comments sections are optional (but we would really appreciate to hear more from you ^^)[/p]
    • [p]To avoid corrupting the data, please submit the form just once. (maybe wait until you’ve played Level07 / Cycles before doing so) [/p]
[p]NOTE: as we really need feedback on Level07, it is available from the start for you to try in “Exploration” mode but keep in mind it’s the final level of the game and probably the hardest / biggest one ^^[/p]
[p] [/p][p]That’s pretty much it, thanks![/p]
