First Look - Episode 4: Tycoon

[p]In Transport Fever, the ultimate objective has always been clear: drive the expansion of thriving cities. That ambition evolved throughout the series, with successful town development hinging on the player’s ability to design and manage highly profitable transport networks. In Transport Fever 3, there is much more to it, requiring the full skill set of a true tycoon to make the population flourish.[/p][p][/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]In our last episode, we explored the infrastructure tools behind your transport empire. You can check it out here. This time, we dive into the heart of the game. While financial management has been reworked to provide a lasting challenge, building a profitable network is only the first step. Transport Fever 3 requires you to revisit and optimize your network as your world evolves.
[/p][p]Towns grow through distinct town levels, starting as a small hamlet eventually becoming a sprawling metropolis - if provided everything they need. Passenger and cargo deliveries directly fuel that expansion, while your reputation, passenger happiness, timely delivery, traffic congestion, noise and pollution are the limiting factors. The more towns grow, the bigger the demands and challenges, and the more difficult it is to solve them. On top of that, a newly introduced company progression system unlocks unique landmarks, headquarters upgrades and special perks, that provide additional bonuses to municipal regions and unlock new management approaches.[/p][p][/p][p]As a true tycoon, you decide about the measures. Highly customizable map generation and difficulty settings allow you to set your own perfect level of challenge, including expert options for the most experienced players. [/p][p]PS: We are happy to officially confirm today, that Transport Fever 3 will also be making its way to Mac and Linux on Day One.[/p]

Transport Fever 3 Hands-On Preview: A Campaign with Direction

City and business simulators can feel impenetrable to newcomers, but Transport Fever 3 sets out to prove that the genre does not have to be intimidating. I don’t regularly play city/business building simulators regularly. That is largely due to the steep onboarding curve, which can feel overwhelming, as each game’s systems and dense user interfaces often appear tailored to established fan bases. The design philosophy can feel rooted in the idea that “it’s like riding a bike.”

But what if you have never learned to ride a bike? That is where Transport Fever 3 comes in, offering players a chance to get in on the ground floor with new systems and gameplay that cater to both newcomers and veterans. When given the opportunity to step into the role of a business mogul for a few hours to explore the new features and campaign in Transport Fever 3, I stamped my tram ticket and jumped on board. After only a short time with the game, I felt confident I could play it effectively, which... Read more
