Anomaly Log Update #002 - Dr. Emilia Gates

ANOMALY LOG UPDATE
Dr. Emilia Gates, Operation Victoria
Subject: Post-incident analysis - U.S. Naval Aviation Event “Flight 19” (Reference: Event VIC-0191)

This morning, I received a dispatch from OpVic Headquarters in Universe Mundus. A multiversal anomaly was detected: five aircraft, a U.S. Navy training squadron, vanished into a high-altitude Rift above the Atlantic. HQ flagged the event, Flight 19, as active and advised my team to prepare for a possible incursion.

However, here in Victoria, the story has already come to an end. I instructed ground teams to re-check a known crash site in Sector Charlie-7, where we had previously catalogued an aviation wreckage. A second pass with updated reference material confirmed it: the wreck is remnants of Flight 19.

The fuselage is fragmented and deeply oxidized, but the tail numbers match precisely. We recovered some human remains, those of a pilot who had attempted to make camp in a nearby cave. The other four aircraft remain lost to us, and perhaps still lost in time and space as well.
This discovery confirms a troubling conclusion: time does not flow consistently between our worlds.

While Flight 19 is only now being reported as active in Universe Mundus, they have already crashed and perished here in Universe Sinum. This is not the first time we've noted desynchronization between timelines, but the clarity of this case is unsettling.

Whenever I am able to send communications back across the rift, the Flight 19 incident must be reclassified from active recovery to historical closure. I will record the coordinates and remains for archival purposes.

Anomaly Log Update #001 - Dr. Emilia Gates

ANOMALY LOG UPDATE
Dr. Emilia Gates, Operation Victoria
Subject: Post-incident analysis - Soviet Naval Encounter (Reference: Event VIC-0327)

At 04:17 GMT, dimensional sensors registered a sudden rift ripple in Quadrant 4-C, followed by extreme pressure displacement and a brief but intense electromagnetic flare consistent with interdimensional stress. Preliminary acoustic readings suggested the rupture of non-native steel under pressure. Within 14 seconds of the breach, a Soviet Foxtrot-class submarine appeared with hull markings confirming identity as B-59.

The vessel manifested with visible hull deformation and severe oxidation, inconsistent with its expected condition if preserved in our timeline. Full biological scans were inconclusive; no life signs were found. However, movement was noted within the control room for approximately 43 seconds post-arrival.

Most notably, the vessel’s fifteen-kiloton nuclear warhead is still intact and is undergoing stabilization protocols. The presence of a functional nuclear warhead raises serious ethical and procedural concerns. This event predates our operational timeline and may require diplomatic oversight if data is leaked.

The warhead's radiation signature is currently stable, but anomalously “phased” and drifting slightly out of sync with baseline quantum decay. More pressingly, it confirms that nuclear materials are not neutralized by Rift passage. This phenomenon may provide insight into how time behaves under Rift displacement. The implication is staggering: radioactive material aging at a different rate than its environment.

Playtest Ended & Meet Dr. Fynn Sullivan!
Our playtest is now offline!
Thank you to everyone who played during this stress test. The Lost Rift team remains deep in development as we push toward our Early Access launch. Your feedback from playtests has been invaluable, and we are already discussing how to incorporate your feedback in as much as possible. We’ve read your comments, followed your discussions, and yes… we know there are still bugs to squash.

Early Access is a partnership between our team and our players to shape Lost Rift into the best game it can be. By inviting you in before the full release, we have been able to gather real-world feedback, see how you engage with our systems, and identify what works and what doesn’t long before the final version. A stress test, like our most recent test, allows us to test our servers and make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible on many types of hardware. This collaborative approach also allows us to refine balance, squash bugs, and introduce features based directly on your feedback.

If you played in the playtest over the weekend, we’d love for you to take a short feedback survey. Feel free to include as much (or as little) info as you'd like to share with us.

Please click here to complete the survey.
Dr. Fynn Sullivan: The Cavebound Scientist
For the last thirty years, Dr. Fynn Sullivan has lived isolated in a fortified cave on the same island of Victoria that you’ve washed up on. On his mind is a single obsession: to unlock the secrets of Kennedite, a material located on the island that he believes can open a path back home.

Fynn was once a leading researcher for Operation Victoria, the scientific organization present on the island. However, Fynn’s caution in studying Kennedite put him in direct conflict with the military’s impatient leader, Captain Wade Davis. Their rivalry exploded, quite literally, when his actions caused a deadly blast that severely injured Wade and many others.

Racked with guilt but vowing to continue his research, he disappeared. Understandably, Wade has despised him ever since. Now in his sixties, he’s worn down from years hunched over improvised workbenches, with a wild-eyed stare that hints at both brilliance and the toll of isolation. Fatigued but sharp, his mind never stops working.

When you find Fynn, he will not leave the safety of his cave base. He has managed to stay alive with the help of other survivors on the island, and now you are among them. Too wary of the dangers outside, he will enlist you as his hands and eyes. Exactly what he is working toward by asking you to help with his research, and how far he is willing to go, is something you will have to discover for yourself.

Helping Fynn will bring you closer to understanding Kennedite’s true power and deeper into his decades-long mission of escape, but it also risks opening doors that should remain shut.
