Introduction to the narrative of Elusive - Zoe’s Memories

[p][/p][p]Hello Elusive raiders, it’s been a while since the last update! [/p][p][/p][p]We are completely immersed in the development of Elusive, but we have gathered some content that we want to share with you so that you can know more about this game and its characters.  [/p][p][/p][p]Elusive won't be a game with extensive dialogue, but we have a lot to tell and convey. One of the channels we'll be using is Zoe's Memories: collectibles hidden in the corners of Giant House that will tell us more about Zoe, her father, and Elusive’s lifestyle. [/p]
“Second Lives”
[p][/p][p]A button? It could be a curious gift if you open your mind. [/p][p][/p][p]The Elusive, especially the raiders, are adept at seeing the possibilities in the objects they borrow that others would overlook.[/p][p][/p][p]Zoe's father always encourages her to look beyond and seek out the incredible potential of things around us.[/p][p]
[/p]
“Falling down and getting up”
[p][/p][p]We will fail more than once, but we must learn from those moments to do better next time.[/p][p] [/p][p]It will be frustrating, as we will lose part of what we have collected on our raid, but it will make us more cautious and wiser for next time.[/p][p]
[/p]
“It doesn’t bite”
[p][/p][p]Careful, that mouse looks big![/p][p][/p][p]It's very easy not to be afraid of many animals if you're bigger than them, but when it's the other way around, things are seen from a different perspective.[/p][p] [/p][p]However, with caution, respect, and empathy, we can learn a lot from them. We can even build relationships where we help each other survive in a world that can sometimes be very hostile.[/p][p]
[/p]
“Guardian Cloaks”
[p][/p][p]The Guardian Cloak is an icon that Elusive raiders wear with pride. [/p][p] [/p][p]In addition to recognition, it is their most precious tool in their adventures, helping them to hide and protect themselves.[/p][p]
[/p]
“Check it twice”
[p][/p][p]As a good father and teacher, Zoe's dad teaches her from a young age to check and prepare well before going on a raid.[/p][p] [/p][p]You must be prepared to complete your mission successfully, but also in case something unexpected happens. Imagine if your hook failed during a jump!
[/p]

[p]This is just a glimpse of all the Memories you'll find, so keep your eyes peeled![/p][p][/p][p]In the meantime, you can support us with a wishlist so that more people can discover us and stay up to date with all the progress leading up to the launch. Of course, you can also join our Discord community! We start each day with a serving of treats 🙂[/p][p][/p][p]

Elusive’s new gameplay trailer

Hello Elusive raiders!

We’ve waited a little longer than expected, but we had to do it. And it’s because today we have shown a new trailer with exclusive gameplay at The Indie Media Exchange Summer Game Showcase.

Check it out!

[previewyoutube](trailer)[/previewyoutube]

The Elusive are very small beings, but full of resources with which to survive and thrive in a world where everything is usually much bigger than they are.

Among those threats, especially when exploring the outside of the house, is the raven. This raven has a very bad temper, without a doubt, but it also seems to be affected by something strange that makes it even more dangerous.
Interactions with large animals in Elusive
While being the size of a pencil has its benefits, it is certainly a disadvantage when there are large animals around. And by big animals, we mean “harmless and funny” (if you’re human, of course) creatures like a crow or a cat.

These two animals will be our biggest threats during our raids, and it’s because the Elusive are part of their diet, as would other small animals such as mice or insects.

The crow relentlessly watches the outside of the house, where the garden and other intermediate areas are located. The outside offers less protection and we will have to be especially cautious when moving between plants and branches, but we will also have to be prepared to confront it directly if things get complicated!

Although they will be moments of great tension, these chases and confrontations will also be a great opportunity to test our combat, stealth and platforming skills, and show what the Elusives Raiders are capable of!

Inspirations behind Elusive’s development

Hello elusive little friends! Come out of your hideouts for a moment please, we want to share something with you.

In the time left until the release of Elusive, we want to share things about the project and its development, not only the progress and improvements, but also about the talented team that is working on it. Today we will talk about how the idea of this game came up and the works that have inspired it.

Although I'm sure you can already imagine some of them!
The fantasy of being tiny in a huge world
There is something captivating in the idea of feeling very, very small and that everything around you, especially things that in your day to day life are so normal that you don't even notice them, is so much bigger.

The world becomes a great (no pun intended hehe) adventure, especially if you have tools and skills with which to explore and overcome dangers and obstacles. The meaning and potential of things changes: a small needle can now be a powerful weapon, a big button, a new table for your house, and with a piece of bread you can eat the whole month 🍞

In part, this is a new but familiar feeling that brings back memories of childhood. The world seemed wider for our small size and we didn't yet have all the fears and doubts we acquired as adults. It brings back a reckless, but addictive feeling!
The Secret World of Arrietty, The Borrowers and It Takes Two
This concept is not new, of course, and these are just some examples of great and wonderful works that have done an excellent job with the idea of being little kids living great adventures (again, sorry haha).

At Chibig we have always taken Studio Ghibli as a reference when creating our games, especially for the beautiful visuals and the way their stories touch the heart. The Secret World of Arrietty has inspired us a lot to create our own aesthetics, but also some very interesting elements for game mechanics, like the needle-sword.

As good 80-90’s kids, The Borrowers have a special place in our hearts, and now also in Elusive's ideation. This film shows us not only this fantasy, but also the feeling of community and family.

Being so small in an environment where everything can potentially be a threat can make us feel alone and helpless, but if there are more people like you and you can support each other, you can not only survive, but enjoy and thrive together.

Of course, It Takes Two, but also Ori and the Blind Forest or The Plucky Squire are video games that have created incredible experiences with this premise, and that have inspired us (and will continue to inspire us in this development path) to create our own.

Although we can't give you more details yet, we‘ll be able to show you new unreleased content of Elusive very soon. You can add the game to your wishlist to follow our updates and join our Discord server to discover more content of the project and talk to us.

For now, we wish you a happy and fruitful raid!

First time testing Elusive on Steam Deck

Hello elusive friends!

The announcement of Elusive has been very well received so we couldn't help but put together the most advanced work to date (still WIP) and test it on Steam Deck. Here's the result!

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
What have you seen?
Elusive combines 3D and 2D (2.5D) scenarios, so in the 3D scenarios we will have a free camera to appreciate all our huge environment, but also to explore more easily in our search for resources and treasures.

The Memories are some very well hidden collectibles that will reveal details about the Elusive, the history of Zoe and her father or winks to other adventures from Chibig.

If you have played Mika and the Witch's Mountain, you will quickly recognized the Memory that appears in the video!

You've also seen Zoe cracking open a walnut, but why? These nuts hide very useful gadgets for Zoe, like a hook or special boots. Just a few seconds before we can see Zoe using the hook to get around an obstacle, and thanks to it she can access an area she couldn't reach otherwise.

During your adventure you will have to search and find these equipment upgrades if you want to reach every corner of this huge house. And you should want to, you are Elusive raiders after all!

Even though it was short, we're excited to see Elusive running on a platform like Steam Deck - it makes us feel closer to fully play it too!

For now, wishlists are heartily appreciated, but you can also go one step further on our Kickstarter campaign, which is only a few days away from ending.

Watch your steps!
