[p][/p][p]Glad you guys are enjoying eating each-other! Admittedly, it's a BIT much so now that you've all had your fun we're introducing some changes to cannibalism to just make it a little less crazy.

There's also a couple nice fixes for performance and crashes, and fall damage adjustments!
[/p][h3]Patch Notes[/h3][p][/p][p]OPTIONS[/p]
  • [p]Added an option called “ENABLE CANNIBALISM” which is on by default. For folks who don’t want to engage with this mechanic, simply turn it off at the Main Menu. By turning it off, you will no longer see other players become chickens or be able to eat them, and other players will not be allowed to see you as a chicken or eat you.[/p][p][/p]
[p]BALANCE[/p]
  • [p]Improved fall damage calculation while sliding to be more forgiving.[/p]
  • [p]Players will now become cannibals at 70% Hunger instead of 60%.[/p]
  • [p]Players will now take 10% Curse status upon cannibalizing, up from 5%.[/p][p][/p]
[p]FIXES[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where players would experience reduced performance ever since the last patch. It’s because the chicken model was always active on your body, just invisible…I'm a bad programmer sometimes ok?[/p]
  • [p]Potential fix to the crashes some players would experience when halfway up the volcano, and improved performance for those who don't crash![/p]

[h2]HOTFIX 1.10.b[/h2][p][/p][p]Fall damage still had issues after yesterday's patch. It seems like we only resolved half the issue-- so a bigger refactor has been done to hopefully squash it for good. As always, let us know if you're still having issues with it!

For those wondering why its so finicky, it's because it's handled via 'time falling' instead of 'velocity on impact with the ground'. That's because the characters have ragdoll physics, so relying on velocity on impact with the ground is super inconsistent. However, 'time falling' wasn't properly accounting for scenarios where a player was stuck in geometry in midair, but neither falling nor properly in a grounded state. Thanks for your patience while we investigated this!

Peak cannibalism is delivered by the co-op climber's latest patch

Well, after a prolonged period of teasing, Peak developers Aggro Crab and Landfall Games look to have bitten the human bullet. Nestled among the notes for the climbing game's latest patch are the words "added cannibalism".


It's not enough that you can mod Peak so that you and your buddies will be surrounded by the corpses of fallen climbers as you attempt to do an Edmund Hillary. The folks behind Another Crab's Treasure and Content Warning want you to casually nibble on your colleagues on the way.

Although I will mention that Polish and Turkish translations are in!![/p][p][/p][h2]Issues on our radar[/h2][p]We know some folks are experiencing issues with the game that this patch doesn't solve. Our ability to fix them heavily depends on our ability to reproduce them on our end, so detailed bug reports that include your hardware specs and graphics API are super useful. Your continued patience is appreciated
Below are just some of the issues we know about and we're working to solve:[/p]
  • [p]Ongoing issues with the backpack. We've resolved some of the weird edge cases but seems like we haven't caught them all. For now, try not to stand too close to a wall while dropping it.[/p]
  • [p]Alt-tabbing crashes the game. For now, default to Windowed Fullscreen instead of Exclusive Fullscreen.[/p]
  • [p]Microphone issues.[/p]
  • [p]Disconnect and rejoin issues.[/p]
  • [p]General performance issues.[/p][p][/p]

  • [p]New Setting: "Climbing Extra Field Of View". This lets you adjust how the FOV changes while climbing.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]New Setting: PUSH TO MUTE. This works the opposite way of "Push To Talk." No more having to listen to your streamer friend talk to chat.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Settings that were previously hidden outside of the Main Menu will now show up but be disabled. Hopefully this reduces some confusion![/p][p][/p]
[p]BALANCE CHANGES:[/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where Trail Mix, Granola Bar, Medicinal Root, and Airline Food would not give extra hunger reduction after cooked. [/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where cooking something Well-Done and then stashing it would remove the buffs. For reference, the intended behavior is that Well-Done items give the same bonus as Cooked items. It's your warning before it burns :)[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Remedy Fungus now also cures poison in addition to injury, because it seems like it would.[/p]
[p][/p][p] MAJOR FIXES:[/p]
  • [p]We have a temporary solution to the FALL DAMAGE BUG where you would take a signifcant amount of fall damage when falling a short distance, often from spamming the climb and lunge buttons. A more comprehensive improvement will come in a later patch. Let us know if you still see any weird fall damage behavior!

    EDIT: It seems like this only addressed the issue when sliding down while holding the wall, but not the one where you are on a slope. Sorry about that folks, we'll continue to investigate.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]THE NAPBERRY PLANT IS TEMPORARILY DISABLED. Some folks were having issues with lag and crashes due to our implementation of the Napberry Plant. Trust me its a weird one. While we work on a better implementation asap, the Napberry Plant won't show up in the level.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Performance at the PEAK is greatly improved. It was the dang wildflowers.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where an item would get stuck in your "Hands" Item Slot. This issue happens when the server can't keep up with items that are swapped too rapidly, so a tiny delay has been added after swapping items before you're able to pick up a new item.[/p][p][/p]
[p]MINOR FIXES:[/p]
  • [p]You can no longer get the Bookworm Badge by simply reading the final page without the others.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where reading the guidebook pages out of order could result in inconsistent stat tracking for the Bookworm Badge.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Removed an un-spatialized sound effect that would play when players landed from a fall.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where Ticks counted as berries toward the Foraging Badge, lol.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where an item in the temporary slot would display the wrong amount of Cooked.[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where eating a Scorchberry wouldn't contribute toward the Forager Badge,[/p][p][/p]
  • [p]Fixed an issue where getting an Anti-Rope Cannon wouldn't get you the Esoterica Badge. [/p][p][/p]
  • [p]You can no longer obtain progress achievements (such as Beachcomber Badge) while you are a ghost. Reaching a new area while alive should grant you achievements for all the areas completed that run.[/p]
