High Above Skylog Number 2: Birds, Rain, Sounds, and More
Hello everyone,
It’s been a little while since my last dev update, so I wanted to share what I’ve been working on recently for High Above. A number of small, quiet changes have been coming together - little touches that help the game feel more alive, relaxing, and personal.
Please keep in mind that many of these additions are still being tested and refined. Some things may change slightly as I polish them further. But with that said, here’s a look at what’s new!
New Objects & Customization
I’ve added a handful of new objects to help you shape your rooftop retreat in more unique ways. One of them is placeable rocks, which can now be added to your environment for an extra natural touch. I’ve also added two new chimneys and two lighthouses, I'm hoping to make the lighthouses even more versatile soon, allowing for decorative placement on them as well. There are now more roof materials and color swatches too, giving you extra options to personalize your space. And I’ve added different types of balconies and windows so you can really make your building your own.
Small Creatures, Big Atmosphere
I'm also exploring simple animations and ambient effects to bring the world to life. When plants are placed together, you might see butterflies or fireflies flutter into view. I thought that this small detail might add a bit of magic to the game. I’m also playing around with other ways to bring life to the game, such as adding birds, and how I can give you more ways of interacting with them.

Time & Weather
I’ve been improving the time-of-day system, and added a time slider to move between sunrise, golden hour, night, and more to allow you pick the time that best suits your scene. And for those rainy-day moods, I’ve added a rain toggle. Want a quiet, stormy evening? Or a bright, sunny morning? It’ll be all for you to decide. Or if you like just going with the flow, you can do that too and see where the day, night, and weather takes you.
Thank you again for all the support so far, it really means a lot. I can’t wait to share more soon (and get the demo into your hands!).

Until next time,
Alex
