High Above is Coming Out on April 9!

[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]I am very excited to finally say that High Above will launch on Steam on April 9, 2026!
[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p][/p][p]In a few weeks time, you will be able to step away from the noise of everyday life and design your own peaceful retreat in the sky. The game will launch with four themes - Mediterranean, Japanese, Modern, and Sci-Fi. Each one of them will have its own unique set of props, decorations, and building types. I hope you’ll like them all.  [/p][p][/p][p]High Above is designed as a relaxing, creativity-first experience where you can let your imagination run free. No timers, no stress, no quests. However, for those of you who do want a light challenge, I’ve designed 12 decorative and building missions to take on.[/p][p][/p][p]It feels quite not yet real that a game that I’ve been working on for a while is soon coming out. Thanks sooo much to all of you for following the development and for providing amazing feedback and encouragement throughout this time. I can’t wait to see what you all will create within the game, and I can’t wait to hear what you think. I hope you’ll have a wonderful time crafting your own rooftop worlds![/p][p][/p][p]Not long to go now.[/p][p][/p][p]Speak to you soon,[/p][p]Alex[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

High Above Skylog Number 5: Japanese Theme

[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]Some of you on the High Above Discord server have been asking to see more of the Japanese Theme that’s coming to the full version of High Above. So today’s Skylog is dedicated entirely to that. Grab a pot of freshly brewed green tea, or a chilled matcha if you prefer, and let’s dive in.[/p][p][/p]
New Structures
[p]The Japanese Theme lets you shape your rooftops using a wide range of traditional-inspired architectural elements. You’ll find new designs for windows, doors, roofs, railings, and wall finishes, along with a fresh palette of colours. You can adjust eaves in different sizes and decorate your builds with subtle wall ornaments. All of these details and designs are exclusive to this theme.[/p][p][/p][p]In the screenshot below, you can see how these pieces come together. Whether you’re constructing a single peaceful home or an entire village, you can enrich your scene with blooming cherry trees, power lines, and decorative gates, all crafted to evoke a distinctly Japanese atmosphere.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Props and Decorations
[p]This theme comes with a selection of furniture: couches, tables, chairs, benches, and more. But what I really wanted to concentrate on were the details. You’ll find plenty of oriental lamps and food props - ramen bowls, sushi plates, dumplings, and other treats, so your rooftop residents will never go hungry.[/p][p][/p][p]You’ll also be able to create your own Zen gardens. To help you shape these quiet corners, the theme includes rocks, plants, lanterns, and other calming elements perfect for meditative spaces high above the city.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Three Unique People Challenges
[p]The Japanese Theme introduces three new challenges from people hoping to find peace on your rooftops. They’ll ask you to create:[/p]
 • [p]a tranquil Zen garden,[/p]
 • [p]a cozy Noodle Terrace,[/p]
 • [p]and a relaxing Public Onsen.[/p]
[p]Smart design will be key to keeping your new residents happy, because every challenge must be completed within a fixed budget. Plan carefully, avoid overspending, and make sure you fulfil all your guests’ needs as you shape their perfect rooftop homes.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Hope you liked what we have coming to the game. And between you and me, we are REALLY close to the final release. I will let you know when High Above is coming out real, real soon. In the meantime, join our Discord to be up to date with things High Above, and share your creations there as well. And if you haven’t, add High Above to your wishlist.[/p][p][/p][p]I’ll see you on the rooftops real soon.[/p][p][/p][p]Until next time,[/p][p]Alex[/p]

High Above Skylog Number 4: Futuristic Theme

[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]Today we’re taking a little trip into the future. I want to give you a closer look at the Futuristic Theme, one of the four themes you’ll be able to play in High Above. The future isn’t a distant, faraway dream. You’ll be able to build it! So let’s dive in![/p][p][/p]
New Structures
[p]The Futuristic Theme introduces a whole collection of cyberpunk-inspired structures and building elements. You’ll be able to build and create however you like: new door and window designs, vents, pipes, antennas, and billboards, holograms and neon signs, fresh wall decorations, moldings, and other architectural details.[/p][p][/p][p]Use them to craft a quiet rooftop escape above the noise of the city, or go all in and design a dense, buzzing metropolis of your own.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New Props and Decorations
[p]Just like every theme in High Above, this one comes with its own set of unique props to help you shape your perfect rooftop. In the Futuristic Theme, you will be able to use sleek couches and chairs, desks for your hackers, cargo crates and operator platforms, and brand new designs of lights, shelves, monitors, antennas, and more.[/p][p][/p][p]Everything you need to bring your sci‑fi rooftop to life.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This theme also includes a special extra feature. Once you’re happy with your build and ready to take a screenshot, you can enhance the mood using three exclusive filters, plus the original view, giving you four total options. I wanted to add this small touch so that your creation feels even more personal.[/p][p][/p][p]
[/p]
Three Unique People Challenges
[p]The Futuristic Theme comes with three new challenges from people wanting to settle on your rooftops. You’ll be asked to create:[/p]
 • [p]A shady operations hub,[/p]
 • [p]A hacker’s hideout,[/p]
 • [p]A repair station for everything from drones to robots.[/p]
[p]Each challenge has a set budget, so you’ll need to plan carefully and avoid overspending on unnecessary details.[/p][p]
[/p][p]I’m still working hard on polishing and expanding High Above. There are a few more things I want to refine, but I’m excited to say that development is nearing the finish line and the release is coming very soon.[/p][p][/p][p]If you don’t want to miss it, make sure to add High Above to your Steam wishlist. You’ll get a notification the moment it launches. I’ll be revealing the release date shortly, so keep an eye on the Steam News section too.[/p][p][/p][p]And of course, if you have suggestions or feedback, feel free to share them in the comments or join the High Above Discord community. We’d love to have you there.
[/p][p]Speak to you soon,[/p][p]Alex[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][dynamiclink][/dynamiclink][/p]

High Above Skylog Number 3: Meet Your Modern Theme

[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p][/p][p]Hope you all have been doing great! Today, I wanted to share with you a first look at High Above’s upcoming Modern Theme. This is one of the four themes that will be available in the full version of High Above. I’ve been working on this one for quite some time, and today I want to show you some of the details behind it. So pull up a seat and get comfy![/p][p][/p]
New Structures
[p]With the Modern Theme, I’ve created several new building structures designed specifically for this style. I wanted the buildings to still have some character, such as exposed bricks, different types of roof barriers, ornaments, and such. One of my personal highlights is the Roof Layers. These can be placed directly on top of rooftops to help you build truly unique creations.[/p][p][/p][p]Right now, there are four types available: two for flower beds, one for swimming pools, and one for creating decks. To place them, simply select a Roof Layer and drag it onto a rooftop, adjusting its size to fit your vision. You can also customize their height, colors, and more. These can help you make different types of areas, such as a dancefloor area or a rooftop pool space. It’s all about making that chic modern rooftop living.[/p][p][/p][p]This theme also introduces new props like street lamps, roads, and graffiti, adding that urban feel to your builds. On top of that, you’ll have access to a completely new collection of modern windows, doors, molding options, trees, and building finishes, just to name a few. You can see some of these new structures showcased below.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Modern Decorations
[p]Once your building is complete, it’s time to decorate. I’ve added a wide range of modern furniture and decorations to this theme, giving it a distinct vibe that stands out from the other themes in the game.[/p][p][/p][p]Expect sleek, minimalistic chairs and couches, patterned rugs, metal lamps and lighting, outdoor kitchen cabinets, potted plants, and modern bookshelves and tables. I won’t show everything here - I don’t want to spoil the fun of discovery, but for all of you that like to throw parties, you can definitely expect a few special surprises.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
New People Challenges
[p]If you’ve played the High Above demo (still available on Steam), you already know how this works. I’m planning to create three unique People Challenges for each theme, and the Modern Theme is no exception.[/p][p][/p][p]You’ll be given a set budget and tasked with building the perfect retreat for your residents. Each individual will come with a list of needs that must be fulfilled to keep them happy, and your challenge is to meet those requirements while staying within the set budget. I’m currently working on the stories behind the challenges, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to share them in the comments or join the High Above Discord and let me know there.
[/p][p]Thank you all for playing the High Above demo and for sharing your feedback and suggestions; they truly help shape the development of the game. I also want to thank you for sharing your creations with the community. They’re incredibly inspiring and give me the motivation to keep pushing forward. I’ve also got some big news coming soon too. High Above is not that far away from being complete. I’ll tell you more about that another time. For now, I hope that you like the Modern Theme. And do send suggestions on what you would like to see in it![/p][p][/p][p]Until next time,[/p][p]Alex[/p]
