Discovery Scanner [Weekly Update] - 25/04/2022

It's time for this week's Discovery Scanner post! Let's talk Elite Dangerous.

[h2]Heatsink Module Update[/h2]

In a GalNet article on the 13th, we mentioned that the megaships in the Coalsack Sector Vu-O B6-6 and Onoros systems will provide pre-engineered heatsinks. However, these were recently offered as a CG reward and we want to extend their exclusivity for a while longer to uphold the importance of CG rewards. Therefore, these megaships will stock the heatsinks, but at a later date.

[h2]Non-Damaged Starports[/h2]

The team have noted that a few starports that you may have expected to be damaged last week were miraculously unharmed. Look out for this to be rectified this week, most likely Thursday. The Thargoids won't give up that easily.

Greetings Commanders!

I'm back after a week's break so apologies if I'm a little slow to get caught up today! Let's dig into some Elite Dangerous community news.

[h2]Community Goals[/h2]

After a busy week recently with multiple possible community goals, the galaxy is taking a slight breather over the past week! Let's take the opportunity to recognise those Commanders once again who were the top contributors to the most recent CG's:



I think it's fair to say that Commander Namix is a strong advocate of Salvation, appearing in both lists! Congratulations to all those involved, I'm sure Salvation is most pleased with your efforts.

Now that we've had a recent mining CG, I'm interested to know your ship and outfitting of choice during the event! Any unusual builds on display or was it the tried and tested miners like the Python and Cutter out there last week?

Greetings Commanders!

Apologies for bringing you your Discovery Scanner a day later than usual this week, but here we are! Let's talk about all things Elite Dangerous.

[h2]Fleet Carrier Interiors & Update 11 Feedback[/h2]

First up this week, I want to talk about Fleet Carriers, specifically, your feedback to the launch of interiors, and Update 11 as a whole. We're very happy to see that the vast majority of Commanders are enjoying the update, and of course the jump sequence that I like to bring up every week because it's just THAT good. Your feedback, however, has been incredibly valuable as we look to improve the experience further moving forward. Of all the feedback, I believe the following are the most prevalent:

  • Bartender Service storage cap (already tweaked)
  • Bartender Service sell pricing cap
  • You would like to use menus whilst sitting
  • The panel next to the Commander's chair in the bridge should be interactive


The above has all been fed back to the dev team who will be taking these points into consideration. If there's a point here that you believe is worth raising that I've missed, please do leave feedback below! I'm interested in hearing your thoughts in detail on the Bartender Service sell pricing cap.

Elite Dangerous Odyssey Hotfix 11.1 | 22/03/2022

Greetings Commanders,

A patch is due to go live this afternoon at 14:00 UTC to implement the changes listed below. Downtime is expected to last around 30 minutes. These changes follow feedback and issue reports after the release of Update 11:


[h2]Fleet Carrier Bartenders [/h2]

  • The Fleet Carrier Bartender material capacity has been increased to 1000, from 100.
  • Fixed a disconnection caused at the Fleet Carrier bartender when two players try to buy, sell or transfer the same items simultaneously.


[h2]Stability [/h2]

  • Fixed a crash that triggered when jumping in a Fleet Carrier.
  • Fixed a crash that triggered when players were escorted to their chair for a Fleet Carrier jump.


[h2]Livery [/h2]

  • Fixed Commanders being able to stand up before the jump completion notification.
  • Fixed Fleet Carrier owners being added to a new instance when updating livery options.
  • Fixed a bug preventing the default Drake Layout for the Fleet Carrier being re-selected.


[h2]Protect Missions [/h2]

  • Fixed AI sometimes not prioritising disabling the Cargo Loader shield during Protect missions.
  • Fixed the Cargo Loader state sometimes not updating when hacked by AI during Protect Missions.


[h2]Other [/h2]

  • Fixed players floating and losing access to menus when exiting seated position.
  • Fixed an issue causing crew avatars to be duplicated when Carrier facilities are installed in quick succession. 
  • Fixed truncated mission text in some languages
  • Fixed Engineers not progressing when requirements are met
