Rainbow Six Siege's Crimson Heist update is about to drop

Crimson Heist kicks off Rainbow Six Siege's Year Six on March 16, and Ubisoft has now announced the whens and how bigs of the multiplayer game's next big patch. After seeing the new super-cool anime trailer for Flores, we're keen to get started with the new operator and map rework that are inbound this season.

The Y6S1 Crimson Heist patch should arrive on PC March 16 beginning at 6 a.m. PDT / 9 a.m. EDT / 12 p.m. BST. Ubisoft says you can expect about an hour of downtime while the maintenance is completed, at which point you'll be able to start downloading the update. The size of the patch will depend on which platform you're using for Siege.

For Steam users, it's no muss, no fuss: you'll have a 10.7 GB patch to download. If you're playing on Ubisoft Connect, however, you'll need to plan for a beefier download. The HD-enabled version of the patch is 58.9 GB, while the non-HD version is 33.2 GB. It'll be important to bear that in mind if you're on a connection with any bandwidth limitations or data caps.

Rainbow Six Siege: Crimson Heist goes full anime

Rainbow Six Siege is delving further and further into its own lore as the seasons wear on, with more extensive backstories and flavour trailers for each of its new operators. Heading into Crimson Heist, Flores has gotten what might just be the best story trailer yet. If there are two things we love here at PCGamesN, it's anime and Siege, and it's about time they come together.

The new Crimson Heist story trailer is full of lovely, traditional 2D animation that owes more than a little debt to the classic action anime of the late 90s and early 2000s. It's more or less a Cowboy Bebop episode condensed to under two minutes, just with a little less outer space bounty hunting and a little more covert military recruitment.

A brief framing device sees Flores cooking some meat at a food stand, as he's being scouted for the Six programme. We get a flashback to a heist Flores previously undertook, where he outsmarts some guards in impressive style - while showing off his in-game drone gadget, naturally.

With this program we want to celebrate our amazingly creative and dedicated community artists and give them a chance to be represented in-game. Each selected artist gets to create a full set for an operator of their choice and these bundles will drop over the course of Year 6 and beyond.

Many players can relate to his comics, that often deal with current (gameplay) topics and his adorable illustrations of our operators bring smiles to everyone’s faces.

Caveira's always had a special place in his heart and many appearances in his art, either as one of the main actors of the comic or more hidden somewhere inside it and we all spent some time searching for her. So – Do you see her?

What is the Community Artist Bundle Program?
The Community Artist Bundle Program will launch in Y6S1 and bring you operator bundles created by some of our most talented and dedicated Siege fan artists going forward.

I’m a Siege fan artist too – what can I do to get selected as well?
Given the length of our production cycle for in-game content, the fan artists for Year 6 have already been determined. However, we are always on the lookout for future participants. If your goal is to see your bundle in-game, continue showing us your passion and strive to be an outstanding member of the Siege community.
We have multiple ways for our dedicated community artists to get more involved with the game, such as the Siege Champions Program.

How can I get the Y6S1 SAU_SIEGE Operator bundle?
Link your Ubisoft account with your Amazon account here and claim the Operator set through Prime Gaming once it’s live. After successfully redeeming the content, it will be available in your in-game inventory within 48 hours. Players must have Caveira available as an operator.

Can I buy the SAU_SIEGE Operator Bundle with renown or R6 Credits as well?

How to acquire charms

These charms are only available by subscribing to the respective streamer’s Twitch channel with a linked Uplay account. How to get involved

Given the length of our production cycle for in-game content, the participants for Y6S1 S2, S3 & S4 have already been determined. We are always on the lookout for additional content creators to add to the program and will be exploring new candidates in 2021. If your goal is to see your charm in game, we use the following criteria to begin the selection process for potential candidates:

Requirements to be considered

Approximately 350+ concurrent viewers – preferable.
Average of 10 Rainbow Six streams per month.
Average of 20 hours of Rainbow Six streamed per month.
Positive standing with Ubisoft/Rainbow Six Siege.
High quality level of content.
Rainbow Six Siege reserves the right for final decision.

Consideration for Removal

Less than 10 Rainbow Six Siege main streams over 3 months.
Level of quality dropping below an acceptable level.
Standing with Rainbow Six Siege/Ubisoft compromised.
Any actions that may negatively affect the R6S/Ubisoft brand.
Rainbow Six Siege reserves the right for removal of any charms.

Rainbow Six Siege Y6S1 streamer charms revealed

In every new Rainbow Six Siege season, Ubisoft introduces a load of new weapon charms to celebrate streamers all over the world. In the past, some of the biggest streamers like Michael 'shroud' Grzesiek, Amber Jay 'PaladinAmber' Wadham, and 'AnneMunition' have all had charms, but now four new streamers are set to join the program.

This time around professional player turned streamer 'Braction6', creators 'MrBboy45' and 'Lt Custard', and caster and streamer extraordinaire Jess 'JessGOAT' Bolden have all been selected to receive Y6S1 streamer charms. Braction's features his Yin and Yang inspired logo, MrBboy45's features his flag-bearing anime logo, Lt Custard's is a helmet filled with custard, and JessGOAT's is a geometric design of her as a Siege operator.

These charms (and all of the old ones) are available to Twitch subscribers who have their accounts linked with Uplay. Those of you who have been hunting Twitch Drops in the past will already have this set up, but you can check the process right here.
