Rainbow Six Siege removes the bios of its Spetsnaz operators

Ubisoft has quietly removed the biographies of five Rainbow Six Siege operators that either represent or previously served for the Russian Spetsnaz faction from the official Siege website. This is almost certainly related to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

As spotted by an eagle-eyed Reddit user and reported by SiegeGG, the biographies of Tachanka, Glaz, Kapkan, Fuze, and Finka have all been removed from their operator pages. All five of these operators have ties to the Spetsnaz faction and all five were born in the former Soviet Union. Tachanka, Glaz, and Kapkan are Russian, while Fuze is from Uzbekistan, and Finka is from Belarus.

Despite being taken down from the Siege website, the bios for all five operators are currently still accessible in-game at the time of writing. The Loadout has reached out to Ubisoft to see if in-game bio removals for these operators will also be taking place.

Rainbow Six Siege Demon Veil release time confirmed

March 14, 2022 Rainbow Six Siege: Demon Veil's release time has finally been confirmed.

Last month Ubisoft revealed the next chapter of Rainbow Six Siege and confirmed that the FPS game's Year 7 Season 1 will be Demon Veil. Now - after piles of contradictory announcements - Ubisoft has finally confirmed exactly when we'll get to play it.

The new season will introduce the multiplayer game's latest operator Azami, who can throw kunai blades and even repair holes and breaches. Ubisoft already revealed Siege's Year 7 roadmap, but failed to specify the exact release date for Demon Veil at the time.

If you've been confused by this, you're not alone. A couple of store pages suggested that Demon Veil would be kicking off this week. Anyone who picked up the Year 7 Premium Pass would have noticed that the special "exotic weapon skin for the MPX" unlocked this coming Tuesday, March 8. Buried in a recent press release, Ubisoft quietly noted that Rainbow Six Siege's Demon Veil season was indeed "launching March 8" - and the page for the new season on Xbox consoles even provides a release time, although a slightly different date.

Rainbow Six Siege disruptions were caused by Ubisoft hack

For a small window last night, playing Rainbow Six Siege - or just about any Ubisoft multiplayer game - with your mates was next to impossible, as friends lists refused to load due to server degradation. This might sound like a familiar story for returning players, but this wasn't your run-of-the-mill technical hiccup. Instead, Ubisoft points to a "cyber security incident" causing the disruption.

It's difficult to know the extent of the attempted hack as Ubisoft doesn't go into detail while its IT teams are "working with leading external experts to investigate the issue." You can rest assured that your account details should be safe, though, as the company says there's currently "no evidence any player personal information was accessed or exposed as a by-product of this incident."

Still, it's worth ensuring you have two-factor authentication (2FA) switched on and changing your password just in case. Better yet, you could arm yourself with a trusty password manager to secure all your accounts, considering cyber attacks are a dime a dozen in this day and age.
