Sixth Guardian Program Y5S4: The AbleGamers Charity

In Year 5 Season 4, we are launching the Sixth Guardian Program! We aim to support a charity through an in-game bundle on Siege, spanning a full Season per bundle released. 100% of net proceeds, with a minimum of $6 USD per bundle sold will go to the charity.

Your purchases will help to directly support a charity and help a diverse range of causes. Together, we hope to unite the Rainbow Six Siege community and make a positive change outside of our game.

This Season, we’re releasing the Doc Sixth Guardian bundle. All proceeds will go towards The AbleGamers Charity, whose objective is to combat social isolation and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

This bundle includes for Doc the Sixth Guardian:

- Uniform
- Headgear
- Weapon skin
- Charm

The bundle will be limited in time and available only for this Season. Make sure to check it out before Season 4 ends!

Rainbow Six Siege's new operator bundle benefits AbleGamers

Ubisoft has announced a new line of Rainbow Six Siege bundles that will directly benefit charity groups. The initiative is called Sixth Guardian, and its first is a set of cosmetic items is for Doc. All proceeds from the bundle will go to AbleGamers, a group dedicated to making gaming accessible to people with disabilities.

"AbleGamers is honoured to partner with Ubisoft to support players with disabilities with this amazing Sixth Guardian bundle," said Steven Spohn, AbleGamers chief executive officer and director of peer support. "We couldn't be more thrilled to have the ranks of the Rainbow Six community joining our quest to combat social isolation and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by providing the equipment and knowledge they need to play in the virtual worlds we love so much."

The bundle itself features a new uniform, weapon skin, charm, and headgear for the FPS game's defender Doc, all done in AbleGamers' orange, white, and grey colour scheme. Doc's face is uncovered, with a surgical mask pulled down. He's wearing a ballistic vest with short sleeves over a cuffed cold-weather top, all done in a tiger-stripe camouflage pattern accented with badges that display the new Sixth Guardian logo.

Rainbow Six Siege's Sixth Guardian program launches with AbleGamers cosmetic bundle

Rainbow Six Siege has remained one of the most popular multiplayer games, five years after its launch. With the game’s wide reach, it makes perfect sense why developer and publisher Ubisoft would want to use it as a vehicle to raise awareness for important causes. The Sixth Guardian is a newly announced program that will see new cosmetic content added to Rainbow Six Siege that’s themed around a variety of charitable causes. For it’s kickoff, Ubiosft will be partnering with The AbleGamers Charity for a special in-game bundle.

Ubisoft announced the Sixth Guardian Program and its partnership with AbleGamers on November 23, sharing details with Shacknews. “The special bundle, which includes unique in-game items, will give players the opportunity to support and donate to great causes and non-profit organizations.” The AbleGamers bundle will be the first in a series of planned content drops for the popular FPS.

The AbleGamers Charity bundle will be available for purchase at the launch of Year 5, Season 4 and includes a uniform, weapon skin, charm, and headgear, all designed with the signature orange, white, and grey colors used in the AbleGamers branding. 100% of net proceeds will be donated to the respective charities.

Steven Spohn, COO and Director of Peer Support for AbleGamers spoke about the partnership. “With more than 46 million players with disabilities in America alone and even more worldwide, we couldn’t be more thrilled to have the ranks of the Rainbow Six community joining our quest to combat social isolation and improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. By providing the equipment and knowledge they need to play in the virtual worlds we love so much, doors open up that simply weren’t there before.”

We’ve seen the gaming industry make a conscious effort in recent years to be more inclusive and accommodating of the disabled community, and The Sixth Guardian seems like another solid step in the right direction. Stick with Shacknews for more updates on Rainbow Six Siege’s charity-oriented initiative.

Rainbow Six Siege Neon Dawn release date: every change detailed

Looking for the Rainbow Six Siege Neon Dawn release date? The new season introduces a new defender, reworks several gadgets, and shifts a number of secondary gadgets - there'll be a lot of loadout swapping when launch day arrives.

The new operator, Aruni, is a hybrid of Castle and Kapkan. She can place indestructible Surya Gates on windows, doors, hatches, and wall panels, which deal 40 damage to any attacker who passes through them. Surya Gates also fry any projectiles that go through them, deactivating the gate for 30 seconds - these can be reactivated after the cooldown by shooting them. It's a neat way of slowing attackers down, without putting such a significant obstacle in their path that they couldn't simply run onto site.

The Y2S1 map, Skyscraper, also returns in Operation Neon Dawn, reworked to enable easier navigation for defenders and cut down on runouts and spawn peeks. However, there are many, many more changes that have been revealed in the patch notes. Join us as we run through every change we've spotted, not to mention the predicted Rainbow Six Siege Neon Dawn release date.

Rainbow Six Siege senior esports director: "COVID held us back"

This year has been disappointing for the esports industry. Although user engagement with games and esports has increased as a direct result of the global pandemic, tournament organisers and publishers have been forced to abandon - or drastically change - their plans. Ubisoft is one of those publishers, and a senior director of esports has admitted COVID has wreaked havoc with his plans for Rainbow Six Siege this year.

Speaking at the ESI Digital Winter event, Che Chou says COVID has put a fairly hefty dent in his plans for this year. He also mentions that not being able to have proper majors this year is a "major problem" when it comes to developing regional rivalries, storylines, and worldwide rankings.

"When I look at where we are in the three year trajectory, I do think 2020 is a bit of a wash for us," he says. "I was not able to fulfill a lot of the goals set out for this year, mostly due to COVID. And I'll just be honest, I think COVID held us back in terms of holding international events, and those are key to the story lines of Rainbow Six events.
