Rainbow Six Siege's Halloween event is live

The Doktor's Curse has been unleashed on Rainbow Six Siege - or in other words, the multiplayer game's Halloween event has begun. The popular Doktor's Curse limited-time game mode that debuted in 2019 has made its return, running today through November 2. In it, one team of five hunters has to find the five monsters hiding in the Doktor's Castle, and there are spooky Halloween rewards to be had for playing the mode.

The event takes place on a spookified version of the Theme Park map, which has been decked out to transform it into the lair of an evil mad scientist. To queue up for the mode, you'll want to select a 5v5 match of Hide and Seek in Doktor's Castle. Once you begin, you'll play as either a hunter or a monster, without any of your chosen operator's usual firearms.

Hunters, instead, will have to use melee weapons and gadgets to find and destroy the team of five monsters who are hiding inside. Monsters have the same restrictions - it's an all-melee mode, but you can use gadgets and booby traps. The monsters win if they manage to survive all the way until the end of the countdown timer, or if all the hunters are eliminated.

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a "revamp" of the Doktor's Curse event for Halloween

It looks like Ubisoft is revisiting the popular Doktor's Curse event for Rainbow Six Siege this Halloween. The Siege team has released a live-action teaser trailer for the event that seems to suggest it will be a "revamp" of Doktor's Curse, rather than a sequel.

Doktor's Curse was the big Halloween event back in 2019 and was set in a modified version of the Theme Park map using the Hide and Seek game mode. In what now sounds like a precursor to the upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction - or the recent 'Containment' tie-in event - one team seeks to eliminate the opposing team, who are all playing monsters. The catch is that neither team have melee attacks or standard weapons.

Other than the teaser trailer there's no word yet on how much of a revamp Doktor's Curse 2021 will be compared to the original - but with Extraction on the way, it's possible the event could have an alternate mode where the monsters get a chance to fight back.

Rainbow Six Siege Y6S4's new operator sounds like Kapkan meets Ela

While there's no word yet of a Rainbow Six Siege Year 6 Season 4 release date, some details appear to be emerging ahead of its arrival. A dataminer has shared some info that could give us a good idea of the FPS game's next operator - and it sounds like they're going to be a real mix of Rainbow Six Siege operators Kapkan and Ela.

Dataminer Benjaminstrike, who previously correctly indicated Flores' arrival and gear and Year Six Season 1's name, Crimson Heist, ahead of time, has posted some info about Siege's new Year 6 Season 4 op. on Twitter. First up, it sounds like she - yep, it looks like she'll be a female character - is a defender. This season's operator Osa is an attacker, so having a defender inbound makes sense as that'll help keep the roster balanced. It also appears she'll be called Thorn, going by another of the dataminer's posts (below), which additionally reveals some details about her gadget and playstyle.

The new operator will have a "throwable proximity-activated gadget called the Razorbloom Shell" which will stick to any surface, the dataminer says. When an attacking op. triggers its sensor this shell turns red and, after a short delay, "explodes into many high-velocity projectiles", with damage dealt being based on proximity to its blast radius.
