German Games & German Friends
[p]As part of the Games Forged in Germany Steam event, I thought I’d highlight some German indie friends of mine that make amazing games! The local game development scene here is bursting with talent and creativity, so I’d love to introduce you to some of the games from German friends of mine.[/p][p]
[/p][p]Without further ado: [/p]
Toukana

STAR BIRDS
[p](^ Click here to see it on the Store!)
[/p][p]Toukana is one of the most inspiring indie studios I know. Since releasing their debut smash-hit Dorfromantik in 2021, they have constantly continued building and giving their community more: A critically acclaimed boardgame spin-off, tons of extra content for Dorfromantik and now: Their next game SPACE BIRDS in which you mine little asteroids for resources to help a flock of spacefaring birds prosper and thrive. It’s an incredibly fresh take on the resource management genre, and manages to please both people who’ve played games like this for ages as well as complete newcomers. SPACE BIRDS currently has a playable demo, so you can fall in love with it yourself:[/p][p]
[/p][p]Also make sure to check out Toukana’s first game Dorfromantik which is currently 40% off![/p][p][/p]
Grizzly Games

THRONEFALL
[p](^ Click here to see it on the Store!)[/p][p][/p][p]This studio will always be special to me because I co-founded it and was part of the team for the first two games SUPERFLIGHT & ISLANDERS. I’m still good friends with these guys and the work they’ve done on their last game Thronefall is incredible. Top down medieval strategy meets the trademark GrizzlyGames minimalism, incredible sound design and super satisfying combat. I think Thronefall is one of the best (minimalist) strategy games out there, if you don’t know it already, definitely go check it out: [/p][p]
[/p][p]If you haven’t played them yet, have a look at ISLANDERS and Superflight too, I’ve worked on both of those games and am still super proud of them![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
RANDWERK

WANDERBURG
[p](^ Click here to see it on the Store!)[/p][p][/p][p]The guys at Randwerk have an incredible knack for visual appeal & satisfying game feel. Their first game Abriss was already gorgeous and I’ve been obsessed with their upcoming Wanderburg ever since they showed me a super early prototype. It’s such a good premise: a minimalist open world roguelike where you commandeer a castle on wheel, fighting and eating up other castles to grow bigger and more powerful! [/p][p] [/p][p]WANDERBURG is incredibly fun & juicy to play, looks gorgeous and I highly recommend having a look: [/p][p]
[/p][p][/p][p]There are many more, but I’ll leave it at these three for now! Let me know if you’d like to see more recommendations like these and if you enjoyed the games here [/p][p]Cheers, [/p][p]Friedemann[/p][p]
