- [p]The fishing system is both fully client side AND uses the OG mechanics that everyone is both used to and enjoys. This has been tested by a lot of the vets in the community for many hours so the experience should be very similar to what you are used to. [/p]
- [p]One of the core problems that was addressed with the new system is dealing with those frustrating line snaps where you would hold down left mouse button for the entire duration yet still lose the fish due to it bottoming out. [/p]
- [p]The backend, however, went under a full rewrite and will improve performance greatly, especially in multiplayer. On my Ryzen 7 9800X3D I gained between 10 and 15% CPU use for each player that was fishing in my server due to the lackluster netcode.
Now, each client that joins into the game will contribute less than a percent when fishing as the fishing system now runs on client side. This also results in a much smoother experience for the client while they fish. You should notice much smoother bobber movement as well, as it was somewhat choppy before. [/p]
[p]The quick time event (skill check) has not been added yet as I want to make sure yall are enjoying the new system as if. Once it has been fine tuned and were all on the same page ill add the skill check mechanic[/p][p]There have been some other changes too, like now fishing at night time provides a 10% boost to Bait score.[/p][p]A lot of the lower tier fish have also received point value buffs to help meet quota in the early game.[/p]

- [p]Butcher Table now requires 20% more fish point value for each tier of bait
-For example, before, you would need a point value of 45 in order to get the best butchered bait. Now a fish will need to be worth at least 60 points[/p] - [p]Adjusted the exposure graph to make nighttime just a bit brighter[/p]

- [p]Fixed a bug where fish traps would sometimes need to be picked up and replaced in order to get them to catch a minnow again.[/p]

[/p][h2]ARCTIC MAP PROGRESS UPDATE WOWOWOW[/h2][p]As you may have noticed, the download for this update was rather large... This is because it contains all of the files for the new arctic map meaning once the arctic map releases you wont have to download much.[/p][p]Much progress has been made on the Arctic map. All of the new bait and their spawning algos is complete along with the map itself. What is left to do? Finish the new primary monster for the map, add all of the new fish, a few minor tasks, and most importantly play testing.

- [p]New bait AI logic along with snow interaction allows players to track the location of bait by following their trails left in the snow[/p]
- [p]New bait exhaustion mechanic… Certain high tier bait like penguins will migrate if you threaten the baby penguins. How does this work? If you scare the baby penguins (or take them as bait), the following day or to there will not be any penguins at that location as they will have fled to a new location. You can expect them to return after a day or two.[/p]
