NEW ITEM: The Fish Smoker
[p]The new Fish Smoker helps you combat fish rot. It functions similarly to the clam but for a much more affordable price.[/p][p]There are a few key differences between the fish smoker and the clam[/p]
 • [p]The smoker is much more affordable[/p]
 • [p]The smoker requires x number of seconds to smoke a fish instead of requiring the fish to be left over night[/p]
 • [p]The smoker does not give your fish any extra point value.[/p]
 • [p]The smoker can be purchased from the balloon trader instead of the secret shop[/p]
 • [p]Each map has 2-3 spawn locations for fish smokers. If you find them, you can pick them up and bring them back to the cabin.[/p]
[p][/p]
What does the smoker do?
[p]Based on how long a fish is smoked, rot will be reduced by the given percentage smoked. So if you smoke a fish for half of its full smoking duration, it will have a “smoked” percent of 57. We then plug that into our rot formula.[/p][p]Let's say we have a 100 point value fish that is not cooked and has a smoked percent of 50… V (new point value) = V (old point value) * (1 - (0.25 * (1 - S / 100)))[/p][p]S = Smoked percentage[/p][p]0.25 = 1 - Default Rot of .75[/p][p]Lets plug in our values…
V = 100 * (1 - (0.25 * (1 - 57 / 100)))... V = 89.25 points[/p][p]Given that the fish was smoked to a percentage of 57, it is now worth 89.25 instead of 75 if it were not smoked at all[/p][p][/p]
How long does it take to smoke a fish?
[p]If a fish has a point value of 10, it will take 10 * 8 seconds to smoke the fish. The total amount of seconds to smoke cannot exceed 360 seconds. This means, regardless of how valuable your fish is, it will never take longer than 360 seconds [/p][p]It is up to you on how long you would like to smoke your fish. If smoked to 100%, the fish will not incur any penalties from rot, but the smoker will be occupied for a much longer period of time.[/p][p][/p]
Unlike pearls, smoking a fish is not a permanent buff.
[p]Every time the fish undergoes rot (once per day), the smoked percentage will deplete by 3%.  This means that if you smoke a fish to 100%, the fish will be considered no longer smoked. If a smoked fish is also cooked, the smoked percentage will deplete by half (1.5) instead of 3. Cooking a fish no longer reduced rot damage by half like it used to. You always do have the option to smoke a fish again, however, smoking a fish will not recover any lost point value due to previous rot ticks.[/p][p][/p]
What is the purpose of the smoker and the rot changes?
[p] My goal is fourfold. [/p]
 1. [p]First, the smoker intends to expand on the core gameplay loop. As of now, the core gameplay loop is non stop catching fish and then placing them on the grill so they can afk cook. By increasing rot and providing players with the smoker, it incentivizes players to spend more time processing their fish and making critical decisions on which fish should occupy their valuable smokers to help ensure you have enough fish for the future[/p]
 2. [p]Second. From a realism perspective, fish left out in the open for days on end would normally result in a rotten mess. The smoker provides a realistic solution to preserving your fish.[/p]
 3. [p]Third. At the moment, gambling is busted. I don't want to nerf the gambling odds because gambling is a good time so instead, gambling a fish will no longer prevent it from taking rot damage.[/p]
 4. [p]Fourth. Assist in the natural progression of the game. Clams now cost 125->200, which solidifies them as a true late game upgrade. The smoker item costs 50 gold, which fulfills the role of a midgame upgrade and helps players progress to late game.[/p]
[p]Of course, I am always open to ideas for adjustments. This system was designed with the help of the general chat in the GONE Fishing Discord. If you think this idea is a mistake, tell me what you think would be a better design to help tackle the three challenges I mentioned above. The original idea was to add an ice chest to freeze your fish. The reason I did not proceed with this idea is that it was simply too afk. I wanted to add something that players would actually interact with and think critically about, instead of an item that players used and forgot about. This change will not impact those players who are already struggling to sacrifice enough fish on a daily basis, since they consume all of their fish each day regardless. What it does do, however, is increase the difficulty for those players who are able to stockpile fish within the first in game week, which catapults them straight from early game to late game.[/p][p]

Updated the quota formula
 • [p]There has been some minor controversy regarding the slowing metabolism totem. Previously, the totem would simply reduce the current quota for the given day you purchased/upgraded the totem. Now, it will continually reduce the quota for each following day.[/p]
 • [p]What is the formula? ((CurrDay (clamped at 35) * randomFloat) * slowingMetabolismFloat) + CurrQuotaFloat[/p]
 • [p]The slowing metabolism modifier is now applied daily and will result in your quota growing slower. The “randomFloat” variable depends on the map you are playing on and the difficulty you are playing on. Maps like the jungle grant a larger random float. Playing on harder difficulties also grants a larger random float.[/p]
