No One Leaves the Field News

Dev Log – June 1, 2025: Footsteps and Filling Out the Field

✅ What’s New:
Footstep Audio
You’ll now hear your own footsteps as you move through the wheat—just enough to remind you you’re not alone.

Player Controller Upgrade
We migrated to Unity’s Player Controller system to improve movement feel and give us more flexibility down the line.

Landmark Additions
The dried well and work shed have been added to the world and will play key roles in exploration and narrative.

Environmental Details
We’ve begun scattering random grass, small trees, and bushes throughout the field to make each run feel more alive.

🔜 Coming Up:
Completing the inventory system

UI for reading journals and letters

Building out level states and mapping progression

Adding music cues and more ambient sound triggers

🗒️ From the Studio
While we’re not participating in this June’s Steam Next Fest, we’re cheering for all the amazing indie games being showcased. We’ll continue to build toward our own demo launch later this summer.

🧠 Dev Log – May 25, 2025: Wheat Patrol and Setbacks

Not everything went as planned this week—but the field is louder, the scarecrow is walking, and bugs were squashed.

✅ What’s New:
Scarecrow Patrol AI
The scarecrow now patrols the wheat field. If you're inside the wheat and he senses you, he’ll reset your progress. We’ve added a Cinemachine camera trigger to make those moments hit harder.
Wheat Rustle Audio
The field now reacts to you. As you walk through the wheat, it rustles softly—adding tension to every step.
Singleton Bug Fix
We ran into a nasty singleton mismatch issue that only appeared in builds (not the editor). It took time to isolate, but it’s been fixed.
🛠️ In Progress:
GUI updates for the main menu and pause menu
Steam wishlist and feedback links now integrated into the UI (demo prep underway)
🔜 Coming Up:
📖 Finish the letter/journal reader
🏚️ Add key landmarks like the dried well and toolshed
🔄 Begin building level states and mapping out story progression points
🗒️ Notes from the Studio
This week had its share of setbacks—but meaningful systems are taking shape. The field is no longer quiet. The scarecrow is no longer idle.

Dev Log – May 18, 2025: Tasks, Sounds, and Global Access

✅ What’s New This Week:
Pause Menu Upgrade
We’ve updated the layout and added spaces for your inventory and current task, so you always know what you’re carrying—and what you’re supposed to be doing.
Task Management System
We implemented a full system to track which tasks the player has received and which ones are complete. It’s the spine of how the game will progress.
Inspector Fine-Tuning
You can now zoom in on specific objects—whether it's a letter, a tool, or something better left alone.
Sound Manager Integration
Ambient audio is live! The field now rustles, hums, and whispers the way it should. It’s subtle, but it changes everything.
🌍 Localization Progress
We’ve localized the Steam page into the following languages:

🇲🇽 Latin American Spanish
🇧🇷 Portuguese
🇷🇺 Russian
🇯🇵 Japanese
These are the first wave of supported languages we plan to offer at launch. If your region is on the list—welcome! If not, we’re listening.

🎮 Wishlist No One Leaves the Field on Steam
🛠️ Coming Next:
Finalizing the inventory manager
Adding more environmental sounds and music cues
Implementing the UI for reading letters and journals
The field is getting louder, deeper, and stranger.

Thanks for joining the journey.

🧠 Dev Log – Steam Page Launch & Building Foundations

Hey everyone!

Big milestone for us this week—No One Leaves the Fields is officially live on Steam! 🎉
We also released our first teaser trailer, giving a glimpse of the eerie atmosphere we’re building.

Behind the scenes, we’ve been hard at work:

Player controls have been fine-tuned to match the slow-burn tension of the game

Procedural generation updates are underway to start building full playable levels, placing key assets and story elements

We’re preparing to implement level states that unlock more of the farm and field as you explore

This is the foundation for delivering the story—and the scares—to come.
