Age of Survival 2024 is uploaded!
I have just uploaded the 2024 update of Age of Survival! It is a very early build still.
I originally built the game in the Unity engine, and as everyone knows it wasn't a good release, for a lot of reasons. I behaved badly towards the community and bad reviews. A lot of bad things happened, no more excuses can be made and my focus is to move forward on the project.
Moving forward this release is fully multiplayer enabled. I have one dedicated server runnig in the USA WEST region, which can accept 20 concurrent players at one time.
I have included the server files for you guys, which you can run online yourselves. In your game folder you will see a folder for the server files.
You need to open tcp/udp port 7777, and also tcp/udp port 27015 on your router to be able to run a dedicated server from your machine.
You can edit the server name, the number of players the server will accept, and the spawn rates of items for your servers in the server folder on steam, under AOS2023/content/ServerConfig.json
Open that file with notepador etc and configure the file to your liking.
I have not updated the store graphics as of yet, it is 10 pm on a tuesday night........... and TBH I don't have a lot of multiplayer video footage for a trailer. I would like you guys to take your best videos if you are into it, and post them here on this post! I will use your videos, and still pics for the steam page, and the new steam trailer.
There are a lot of bugs.......... I'm going to list what I am aware of here :
THe in game menus when you are playing in the map are kinda crappy to navigate through. Press I to get to the inventory menu , then navigate through all the other menus through there... but you have to go back to the inventory menu and press I to close that all out. I realize crappy UI developemnt. I will work on that for the next update.
The animal AI is VERY basic. This project has been a huge learning experience, and the AI (as well as the whole project), is blueprinted from scratch. My known issues with the AI, besides the basic behavior are that the agressive AI will freeze up and then decide to pursuit the player in certain situations. THe passive AI seems to behave pretty well, although also being a pretty basic AI behavior.
There's not much underwater yet to explore, although there are two shipwrecks under the map, and some small coral reefs i painted out by hand.
The animals on land are spawned out in a procedural fassion, but there's no procedural fish spawned out yer in the water in this build. I just need to do a check for certain parameters within the players radius to the spawn zones to be able to make tha thappen, and make sure they spawn underwaer and stay there.
There are some physics oddness with ragdolls when you kill an animal.... the wildebeest is ok, but because of the size of the rhino and it's collision settings it may act oddly with the player when you kill it and loot it.
Otherwise the majority of the structure of the game is in place....
I'm considering this a shadow release, and I'm going to go to bed because I have to work in the morning.
I will post a video, and more info tomorrow and the rest of the week as I can.
