Update 0.92.4 - QoL and Fixes

Hey everyone!

A lot of small updates lately, and here's another one.
There will probably only be one more of these until the next large-ish update (0.93.0) is ready.

As always, thanks for reports, suggestions, and comments!

0.92.4:
Items:
  • Tome of Knowledge now stacks up to 100 times
Localization:
  • Added the new hero screen and class info to localization files (menu file)
  • Added waypoint interface to localization
Performance:
  • Improved efficiency of collision detection of projectiles
QoL:
  • Chests now spit out loot more rapidly when you have strict filters and have enabled the option to remove filtered out items from the game world
  • Random Anomaly portals should now spawn away from nearby interactable objects like shrines and chests
  • Adjusted size of "click boxes" of some larger interactable objects as they would partially cover nearby smaller objects
Fixes:
  • Fixed Wolf Tooth Necklace (Warden) incorrectly applying its effect to all companions
  • Fixed quest update texts on-screen being drawn weirdly
  • Fixed a set item typo
  • Fixed text position problems in confirmation dialogues, boss intros, inventory, shrine tooltips, speech bubbles, and the character creation screen
  • Fixed speech bubbles being too small sometimes
  • Fixed loot filter filtering out TL items if they were unchecked for radial loot
  • Fixed killstreak bonuses using the difficulty and mf/crystal stats at the end of the streak, rather than at the time of kill, to determine bonuses (so it's now safe to jump back to tinka's before the killstreak ends)
  • Fixed issue where the game would in some cases confuse hardcore and standard character global data
  • Fixed issue where if the save wasn't done quick enough, it might fail
  • Fixed issue where in some cases global data wouldn't save properly when quitting to desktop
  • Fixed the controllers notice going behind buttons on the menu

Update 0.92.3 - Tweaks and Fixes

This is another small update which should improve some things and fix most known issues. As always just let me know if you run into problems and we'll sort it out.

QoL:
  • Lowered the volume of some enemy hurt sounds
  • Lowered the amount of junk you get at lower levels and made drop rates (quantity) consistent across all levels
  • Dungeon Anomalies now grant all rewards upon opening the chest, rather than popping out runes after the boss' death animation finishes
  • Improved a lot of text rendering in the interface
  • Improved the skill bind context menus for gamepad
Fixes:
  • Fixed crash if swapping to disabled interface pages from a vendor via the keyboard shortcuts (ie pressing K to open the skills over the gemcutting interface)
  • Fixed description of Ruin (Warlock) to indicate that it deals damage when cast in addition to the curse effect
  • Fixed the chain reaction effect of the Shroom Tender set not working and rendering some shrooms useless as they refused to pop
  • Fixed issue where some users would have zone corruption when resetting them from the waypoint
  • Fixed being able to drop a single item into a locked stash row
  • Fixed warnings not repeating themselves if repeatedly performing an error (like trying to put something in a full stash tab)
  • Fixed many enemies overshooting their projectiles / spells as they would prefer to use max range instead of landing them on their target
  • Fixed a crash related to bad/outdated stash data
  • Fixed Magma Hydra's attack cooldown not being correctly affected by the Berserker's attack speed
  • Fixed dialogue options having a hidden unselectable option at the bottom (would blip when hovered over)
  • Fixed "Companion Use Effect" always been listed as 100% higher than what it actually is
  • Fixed issue where buff and debuff durations might now show properly in some cases
  • Fixed issue where the skill keybind context menu in the skill tree could reach slightly below the screen
  • Fixed issue where interface context menu navigation didn't fully line up with the mouse cursor and could do strange things in co-op
  • Fixed issue where you couldn't bind the escape key (and as such couldn't rebind the pause button)

Update 0.92.2 - More fixes

I think this should cover the main pressing issues for now, but please let me know if something persists or something new pops up.

Misc:
  • Storm Mender is now purple-ish as the icon
  • The Gear Power, name, etc listed in the inventory screen has been moved slightly to not clip into the belt slots
Fixes:
  • Fixed waypoints beyond Mushroom Cavern not being remembered
  • Fixed issue where progress got reset when playing local co-op (it will unfortunately still be reset upon update but it won't keep resetting now)
  • Fixed issue with save file conversion mechanic resulting in a crash when certain quests were unobtained
  • Fixed issue that prevented temp data from being cleared for users with some system languages that uses non-ascii paths
  • Fixed issue where anomalies and world areas would spawn without doors or freeze on loading screens for some users
  • Fixed "lost and found" cache causing a crash
  • Fixed (probably) rare crash when gemming/enchanting equipment
  • Fixed gambling giving class-related items when buying off-class items specifically
  • Fixed 3 to 1 random conversion recipes of Transmuter giving off-class items similarly to gambling
  • Fixed some item & enchant typos

Update 0.92.1 - Fixes

Hey everyone!

Well, that update was unusually shaky, I guess rewriting several core system all at once isn't the best idea...

This update should fix all the issues reported - please let me know if any issues remain!

0.92.1:
Fixes:
  • If there is temp save data (as a result of an error in file renaming) this data will be prioritized over non-temp as it is more recent and should let you play as normal
  • Fixed issue where some saves became invisible on the hero select screen
  • Fixed issue where using elixirs and scrolls with a gamepad would just delete the entire stack
  • Fixed shrine-related crash
  • Fixed test build characters appearing on the load hero menu and crashing the game when loaded (should no longer appear)
  • Fixed game not remembering last played difficulty
  • Fixed issue where game would confuse hardcore and normal mode global data and stash files
  • Fixed world sync issue in local co-op where the game would bundle up a lot of shared data like waypoints rather than strictly use player 1's data as intended
  • Fixed loot filters not remembering some settings like "toggle instead of hold"
  • Fixed all waypoints showing up as unlocked even though they weren't
  • Fixed True Legendary items not correctly working with the filters

Update 0.92.0 - Engine update, performance fixes, new save system, keybind profiles, new loot filters, and much more!

Hey everyone!

It's been a while and I got a pretty big update for you!
This update upgrades a ton of internal systems and makes use of the most recent GMS2 engine update. So if you've experience framerate issues or the game running sluggishly, this update should (hopefully!) solve those issues!

If you're playing Chronicon on Linux, you may have to do some tweaks depending on your setup, as the updated engine targets ubuntu 18 LTS instead of 14 LTS. However, thanks to liberodark, Chronicon should support more distros without the need for tinkering. A big thanks to him :)

Additionally some major points of this update are brand new loot filters that can be saved and shared across characters, computers, guides, etc! You can make one per character, or make several types of filters for different purposes, and switch between them from the pause menu from any character.

There's also a new keybind system that works in the same way! Per character, per style, per whatever, really. Just set them up and select them from the pause menu. Easy peasy! Both the filters and keybinds are stored as plain text files in a json format (in your Chronicon save directory) so you can easily grab them and share them with friends or copy-paste their contents into guides, for example.

I've also written a new faster and more reliable save system. It allows more frequent auto-saves, and should prevent loss of data if you experience a sudden shutdown or power outage. Pretty neat. Please also note that starting the game after updating will convert all existing save data to a new format that is not backwards compatible.

On top of all this, Anomalies have been tweaked a bit (more to come on that front), many items have been given cool new powers, and I've added a few new runes and legendary + true legendary equipment.

And as always I've fixed a bunch of issues - thank you very much for your reports, suggestions, and support!

As we draw closer to 1.0, I will have more news to share regarding progress, estimated time of "release", and upcoming pricing changes to the game sometime soon!

0.92.0:
Performance Fixes:
  • Engine updated to most recent which should fix performance and framerate issues revolving around vsync, high hz monitors, power saving settings, and many similar issues - please let me know how it runs for you!
New Save System & Format:
  • Autosaves are now more frequent, faster, and safer
  • An icon has been added to the top left when saving/loading data - don't close the game while this icon is visible!
  • Data corruption due to sudden PC shutdowns or power outages should now only be a traumatic memory and likely won't happen again
  • All data will be converted to a new format when launching the game after updating
  • !Note: The new format is not compatible with older versions of the game!
New Loot Filters:
  • Added new Loot Filter which can be customized to exclude any rarity (including TL) or misc item types outside of equipment
  • The display filter and Radial Loot filters are now separate
  • A "default" loot filter is generated on first startup on 0.92.0 or later
  • This can be copied and edited externally or in-game
  • If there are no filters or the selected filter does no longer exist, the "default" is re-generated and used
  • Filters can be found in the save directory
Keybind Profiles:
  • Similar to loot filters, keybind profiles can now be set up and bound per-character
  • Note: Changing the profile on one character changes it for all other characters who use the same profile, so if you estimate doing a lot of changes it's worth setting up a few different
  • Also note that all controller/keybind settings settings, including co-op partners, click to move and controller options, are tied to the same selected profile
  • Keybind profiles can be found in the save directory
Lesser Rune Drops:
  • Rune drop data has been reset to prevent an issue where people were seeing dupes before getting all Runes, sorry about the inconvenience!
Anomalies:
  • Open forest layouts: Removed a lot of single tree blocks
  • Open desert/cave layouts: reduced the avg size by ~15%
  • Lushlands layout: reduced overall size by ~30%
  • Catacombs layout: removed (might return in a more spaceous format at some point)
  • Improved door spawning of Dungeon Anomalies so there should be more variation and possible locations for the doors
  • Added some more layout-tileset combinations
  • Adjusted light tinting for desert Anomalies somewhat
Enchants & Powers:
  • Quieted the Hellfire enchant proc a little
  • Changed how powers are evaluated slightly so that powers such as Despair can be chained into other powers as you would expect, for example the Despair effect (bonus damage to slowed foes) is added before any other effect relying on damage is evaluated
Enemies & Affixes:
  • Bleeder effix buffed so enemies deal approx 50% more bleed damage
Interface:
  • Added a new Loot Filter Settings menu
  • Added an auto save warning thing to the intro, which will also verify and convert any old format save files
  • Removed the Reset Hero button from the menu as it caused more harm than good - it may return later
  • The minimap and quest tracker now moves to the left corner if there's a player in the top right slot in co-op (still need to do something neat for when there's 4 players though)
Items:
    General:
    • Keys, Potions, Elixirs, and Scrolls now fall under their own separate item categories rather than "consumable"
    • Their relative values have been adjusted
    • Added some lore texts to a few legendary items
    • Slightly adjusted the drop rate of Prismatic Stars as due to an error they would be disproportionally low with lower mf values (they are still more rare than other Prismatics though, which remain unchanged)
    • Many items have had their minimum levels raised to spread the loot out a bit so you haven't seen everything by level 50
