Remember the Fallout TV Show's iconic Roomba Robobrain? It's coming to Fallout 4, but devastatingly not as an adorable follower

Warning: Spoilers for Amazon's Fallout TV Show lie ahead.

Ok, so, you remember that bit in the Fallout TV Show when Norm finally discovers the truth behind the experiment that's been going on in his and Lucy's home vault? More specifially, do you remember a certain little funny robot that's by his side when he learns exactly what's being going down. Well, a modder's now working on bringing that Roomba Robobrain to Fallout 4, but sadly not as the world's most adorable Dogmeat subsitute.

Yup, stop crying because Fallout 4's next-gen updates have - probably - messed up your load order, it's time to think about downloading something kinda bizarre that you'll inevitably forget about, then encounter midway through a modded playthrough and think 'oh, when did I install that?'. Hey, at least this time it's not pictures of Walton Goggins' face that'll make you feel things downstairs.

The first patch for Bethesda's busted Fallout 4 next gen update leaves its biggest problems intact, and you're still better off downgrading the game

Fallout 4's 14.4GB "next gen" update dropped at the end of April, dovetailing neatly with the very popular Fallout TV show on Amazon. It promised all sorts of bells and whistles to bring the (nearly decade old, my god) game up to date to the standards we expect from videogames in 2024...

Fallout 4's latest update has stopped explosive piggy banks turning into red signs, but VATS issues persist

The weird second part of Fallout 4's next-gen update, which we first learned about last week, arrived yesterday, bringing with it a host of fixes mainly aimed at getting the game to run and look a bit better. It's also fixed one of the funniest issues folks had reported experiencing with the first update, though other problems look to persist.

If you're just catching up on things, a lot of the big complants folks had about Fallout 4's next-gen update have involved problems that've since been resolved or the effect it's had on mods. Though, there were some other pesky issues highlighted around its release, a couple of which look to still be a thing.

First, the good news. Players are reporting that the fun new makeshift weapons featured in the quest 'When Pigs Fly' are no longer being replaced by the big red signs that usually signify a texture issue of some kind - something some folks had reported experiencing when delving into the next-gen update for the first time. This includes the new Piggy Bank Fat Man and Piggy Bank mines - which are very fun, if a bit OP to become regular fixtures in everyone's arsenal.

Fallout 4 gets some further tweaks to its mod-destroying “next gen update”

As promised and/or threatened, depending on your perspective, open world game Fallout 4 has gotten some new graphics tweaks and bug fixes to smooth out the bumps caused by its previous “next gen update”. The update broke a bunch of mods, delayed a few interesting overhaul projects like Fallout London, and generally made everyone shake their fists at the sky and shout “Howaaaard!” Remember folks: auteur theory unduly credits a single creative for a group effort - the dice that Todd rolls every time he decides whether or not to break the game are also clearly to blame here.

New Fallout 4 patch does little to fix next gen update problems

It's a strange time to be a fan of Fallout. On one hand you have the TV series bringing the games to a wider audience and successfully nailing the feel better than you could've hoped. You've got Fallout 4 more popular than ever but on the other hand, there's the next-gen update. Its launch introduced a ton of new issues to the game and didn't achieve what it set out to do, especially on PC. A second patch has just launched to try and fix some of these issues but unfortunately it still isn't going well.
